    No Volume Control

I would have to agree with a lot of the other reviews that I just read on these headphones and wish I would have read them prior to purchasing them because now they have to be returned. I purchased these headphones to replace a pair of yurbuds liberty which I loved. The presentation is GREAT!!! However, the loudness miss by a mile in my opinion. The quality was great but it was very low compared to what I had with the Liberty. I will say that the clarity was outstanding. That leads me however to the reason I will be returning them there is NO volume controls on the headphones what a MAJOR flaw... This means that I will have to stop and reach for my phone EVERY time I want to adjust the volume... Way inconvenient. Another issue I have is the fact that there are only presets in the EQ feature of the app. Why not have the option to adjust? I also could not tell rather or not the noise cancelling was even on at low or high volumes... Overall a good product but due to the issues I pointed out, these are not for me. Going to try the Bose even though they don't have the noise cancelling feature the volume control on them will make my day...

Hi MikeG1522, We apologize for the time it has taken us to reply. Sony takes into consideration all feedback to improve the performance and quality of our products and services. We're always looking to make Sony better. The WF-1000X wasn’t designed with its own volume control, but its volume can be controlled by whatever source it’s connected to such as PC, Mac, Smartphone, MP3 Player, etc. -Erin sony_US

Great Quality w/ One Major Downside

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have been on a quest to find the perfect earbuds and these came close, however they don't quite match up with my needs. The sound quality on these is A+ with plenty of configuration options within the Sony Headphones Connect App allowing you to fine tune the EQ to your individual needs. They fit comfortably within my ears and come with 2x sets of replacement soft tips in 3 different sizes. The major drawback and reason for my returning is the clear and distinct audio lag when watching videos. The sound lags behind, not too long, but just enough to make all of your videos look like badly dubbed versions where to voice and mouth movements are not in synch which is quite annoying. Other than that, for music listening I give these an A+++ rating. If you are planning on watching videos on your smartphone or computer, I would recommend looking somewhere else. TL:DR - Sound quality is amazing for music, input lag when watching videos (mouth and sound doesnt match up)

Sony I've updated the firmware and....

I just bought these today. Put them in and was blown away, great sound quality, they are comfortable and the Sony app is well thought out. However, and this is a show stopper for me and most I would think, watching/streaming video is impossible. The lag is ridiculous, remember Sony, before you send me that cookie cutter comment, I updated the firmware. I am very, very disappointed. I went from being over the moon to living under a rock (made sense at the time) the moment I tried to watch youtube, netflix, hbo now...come on Sony, you are better than this. I bought my first Sony product in 6th grade, the Sony CFS-45 Boombox, I have been a Sony fan ever since. Cameras, TVs, laptops when they still made them, I could go on and on. That/this is the reason I am so disappointed. I will be returning the WF 1000X earbuds tomorrow.

First, the app for the headphones doesn't work unless you give it permissions.(android) Secondly, one ear bud will go in and out whenever it decides to do this. If you get both working correctly they're a set of ok headphones. No gps if you lose one.

Sounds amazing. Audio gets better with every use. Noise cancellation works like magic. I don't understand the negative reviews at all. Only con is the battery life. Got approx. 3.5 hrs of use on a full charge. I had doubts after seeing the reviews but remembered having awesome experience with Sony headset previously. You won't regret it.

Good Sound but it Drops, Need more Touch Features

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm very happy with the sound quality, but immediately I experienced the sound dropping and it happens rather frequently, primarily from the right earbud and occasionally from both. This is occurring with version 1.07 and with the phone in my hands or right next to me laying on the desk. The ANC is suitable to me in the Active mode. However, the "Ambient" and "off" versions seem identical to me. Unfortunately you cannot tap the earbuds to pause, skip, forward tracks or to adjust volume. Also, the music doesn't pause when you remove an earbud, in my limited trial thus far. The size, fit and comfort are all very good. It comes with a charging case, which is a plus, and although it is a little larger than I wanted, I appreciate the sturdiness of the case in protecting the earbuds. The Headphones app is kludge and non-intuitive. I really want to like these more because of the sound quality and for the ANC, but with sound dropping and without being able to skip tracks or adjust volumes by tapping the earbuds (instead of having to pick up the phone), I will likely be returning these. NOTE: After using these a bit longer I haven't had the sound dropping out, so I'm wondering if the app auto-updated the firmware version without notification, and resolved the sound drop-out?

I love Sony but was sorely disappointed with these I had bought 2 sets for me and my husband but returned them the next day for other headphones which still dont work for me either but anyways. These looked great come with a bunch of features best of all being noise canceling. But very flat sounding and didnt seem good enough for the money we spent. And on my end it's the battery life that killed it... I need a set for work so up to 8 hours I wouldn't have minded charging them on breaks but Sony doesnt have them charging like other brands. So it was a deal breaker for me. I could live with not great quality but I need them to last.

At first I thought maybe these wireless earphones will be great since they are Sony. The specs say that they last for about 3 hrs per charge but they don't, they last around less than 2 hrs. You get connection problems too because usually the right ear phone loses signal and it comes and goes. Even with the software updates the problem is still there.

The connection would drop out A LOT on the right earbud and randomly would ding and "re connect" while my song played. YouTube videos have a 1-2 second delay with audio. Just look elsewhere. I am waiting on the Audio Technica ATH-CKR7TW s to release they are only $50 more for professional studio grade quality and from what I heard amazing comfort.

Picked these up yesterday and was having some issues with left and right playing at the same time, left works then right works then both work then neither work. downloaded the app that it suggest and it said their was an update for the headphones, figured that would fix the problem, It didn't. after trying to get them working correctly for a while, I looked on sony.com for trouble shooting. it informed me that you should not use these near a 2.4gz wifi source and should be at least 50ft away if you encounter a problem. Where can you be 50ft from wifi these days. seems like a really stupid problem to know about and not have had a fix before releasing these to sale

THE GOOD: 1. The sound quality from these is actually good, Nice even bass, crisp clean highs. 2. The fit is very comfortable, and they stay in place well. THE BAD 1. you cannot control volume level from the earbuds! You can skip songs, fast forward, rewind, go to previous song. . . . . But NO VOLUME CONTROL. That's crazy. 2. I noticed no benefit from the "Ambient Sound" feature. It actually made no difference at all. 3. There was a software update (download) needed for the earbuds, which took almost half an hour to complete, and then another software update appeared. . . . it was all rather disappointing. 4. With my cell phone (iphone 5) sitting directly in front of me, the sound from the earbuds cut out quite often intermittently.

    DO NOT BUY

I wish I had the option to give 0 stars. These headphones are terrible. For starters the right earbud only works intermittently. I googled why this happens...something with “stability” and how priority will automatically go to the left earbud. If you are paying $200 for headphones both earbuds better work. Second, when I watch videos on my phone while using the earbuds there is a lag with the sound. Again, if you are paying $200 for headphones they better work perfectly! I highly recommend NOT buying. I will be exchanging the Sony for Bose wireless set.
