I bought them mostly for how good everyone said they sounded only to be greatly disappointed. The sound was no where near the volume I expected, and even trying to use Sony’s EQ couldn’t get anywhere near great sound. These I felt definitely were not worth what they cost.

Not fully compatible with all Android devices

Call quality is extremely poor for both the headset user and caller. It sounds like you are in a tunnel. I raised my ssue with Sony technical support and they sent me a replacement device. However, the replacement device is having the same issues. Speaking with Sony technical support again they said my phones are not fully Bluetooth compatible. This was shock since these headphones are clearly designed for Android phones - Sony has on the box and on the device compatible with Google Assistant functionality, not working on Google's own branded devices seems odd. While there some great features, not having even decent call quality on this Sony WF-1000XM3 is an issue and moreover a basic requirement of any headset in today's competitive market. Unfortunately, I am unable to return them to Best Buy and because it is a compatibility issue, Sony mentioned I cannot exchange or get a refund.

We're sorry to hear that you are having some intermittent audio issues. The communication between the devices will be poor if there is an obstruction between the unit and the connected device. As a suggestion, you may try setting the Sound quality mode to Priority on stable connection and see if it resolves the problem. Also, check that the headphones are running on the latest firmware version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.

The WF-1000XM3 comes with different sizes of earbuds to ensure there is a great fit for all ear sizes and an optimal noise canceling experience. As a suggestion, to reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones, try to use the right size according to the size of your ears. When wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold and better noise canceling experience. • For sound quality, we want to make sure you are getting the most out of your headphones. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Headphones Connect app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune your WH1000XM3 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ for bass and treble sound. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
• For noise canceling, please try adjusting the noise canceling function and ambient sound mode (Ambient Sound Control) from the Sony Headphones Connect app and see if it resolve the problem. The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
