Excellent Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wf1000xm3 are very good sounding headsets. They have Active Noise Cancelling that really is a game changer for earbuds. They have a well balanced sound and for you bass heads bass boost does the job. I listen to all genres of music and no matter what you desire they will not disappoint. If you have smaller ears like me the 10mm OEM gels may feel uncomfortable I solved this by buying 9mm eargels from Sunmns on Amazon. 1mm makes a huge difference in the way that they fit,and are more comfortable than the smaller 10mm Sony eargels. This seems to be a complaint all over the reviews rendered...Sony if you read this 9mm eargels work and ANC is not compromised. If you are having voice call quality issues like many have complained about turn off voice messaging in the app. There is a bug that happens when messages come through that causes your voice to sound garbled....so far this solved my issue. Sony if you read this when messages from WhatsApp and Google messages come in the voice call quality degrades tremendously. You should thank me for being kind enough to help others possibly solve this glitch. For sound and performance If the voice call glitch is fixed I would give 4.5 stars. If smaller eargels and sound controls were implemented I would give a 5. These are better sounding and have longer battery life than my Jabra elite active 65t. If you don't mind doing what I did to make them work go all in.

No noise canceling
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these and wore them on a flight - the basic audio sound is fine but there is absolutely no noise canceling with them at all. In fact - they actually seemed to enhance the engine noise of the jet. I was more comfortable taking them out and having nothing in my ears rather than these. The only reason i bought them is the noise canceling and i thought it would be easier to carry these rather than the over the ear headphones. I have returned these. I do not recommend.

Incredible Earbuds--*almost* Perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These earbuds are absolutely incredible. Compared to many, many other earbuds that I tried out, the Sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds blew me away in almost every single respect. The sound quality is amazing, it's like having a movie theater in my ears. Bass is fantastic, and the app allows you to play around with the equalizer. They are super comfortable in my ears, and the touchpad sensors are very responsive. Active noise cancelling also works very, very well. I would've stuck with these buds if one thing was improved: there are no wing tips, so these earbuds fell out of my ears rather easily with just a little jostling and movement. So, if you want to run or exercise in these, don't get them. If you don't use earbuds for that though, definitely get these because they will be the best you can get. I ended up returning these and ultimately deciding on the Sony WF-SP800N (just one model "lower") and they were just as incredible all around, but those come with wingtips on them and they stay in my ear much better. I also had tried out the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live, LG TONE Free HBS-FN4, JLab Epic Air Sport ANC, Jabra Elite 75t, Powerbeats Pro, Bose Sport Earbuds, and Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro. You can see my review on each of these on the BestBuy website.

Doesn't achieve 5 stars...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF-1000XM3 True Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones are an amazing leap towards perfection - but they fall short. These ear buds are big. And in terms of 'ear'gonomics - they are uncomfortable, have a strange center-of-gravity and as such - they don't instill confidence when wearing them. Those are just the facts. Not quite sure what dictates the shape & size, perhaps it is the noise cancelling/ambient sound microphones and/or the battery, but It doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense no matter how you look at it. I've tried the various ear pieces and none of the smaller ones, more suitable for my ear canal, stay snug or provide what I would deem a truly comfortable fit. It's kind of a shame... The Sony Headphone Connection app for Android is actually one the best I've used. All the functions and status information is laid out in a nice linear fashion. You get battery status, a super logical EQ and various other setting controls. There's even a 'power off' function at the top of the screen. I don't believe I've ever seen that provided by the competition. Pairing was quick, smooth and simple. I had these ear buds working with my S10 Plus in mere minutes. Another area keeping these ear buds from achieving perfection is the presence of compression artifacts (high frequency noise) that is generated and sits dead center in the sound field. If you turn off all the sound enhancement features - which these have a nice set of for various use scenarios - the detection of the noise in the upper treble region is diminished. DSEE HX doesn't help but avoiding the brighter EQ settings does help mask the problem... as does disabling Adaptive Sound Control and Ambient Sound Control. One thing worth noting is that Ambient Sound Control keeps defaulting to 'On'. I'd prefer that it didn't to be honest. The sound quality vs. connection reliability control is also another that impacts the severity of the compression artifacts. So in the simplest of terms, the app is good - but the obvious stack up of DSP functions of this product is a bit over-the-top and combinations of them contribute to the distortion issues. The voice prompting is pleasant and precise. The overall volume (gain) is also good - even considering the presence of the digital compression distortion. These headphones have excellent bass response. Clear, articulate and punchy! Battery life is outstanding, the charging case is solidly constructed and intuitive to use - and I really appreciate the decision to use a USB-C connector. Generally speaking, these ear buds sound good (almost great...) - assuming that you find the right settings to tone down the sharp & noisy treble region, but they are bulky and nowhere near what I would call 'ear'gonomic. Not what I expected to come away with for a pair of in ear, stereo headphones at this price point. Pros: Easy to set up. Great battery life. Excellent charging case. Impressive bass response and plenty of sound volume. Cons: Digital, compression distortion in the treble region. Bulky and not snug fitting. Can be uncomfortable to wear for longer listening periods. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone until such time that Sony cleans up the sound processing, after which I would say - see what you think about the fit & feel in your own ears. So they receive 3 stars as-is and I would bump them to 4 if they can clean up the noise issues. But with that said - there is no way these are a 5 star product considering shape, size & fit.

Best for music - comparison to Bose & AirPods Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.# Headphones Review I bought the AirPods Pro when they came out. I had the first AirPods which, although didn’t sound great, where easy to use and carry, and I thought had a great microphone. Although the Pros are much better, I’ve always had a problem with them: they fall of my ears. I just got the new Comply 2.0 tips for them yesterday, which prompted me to write this review. By the way, so far, the tips are great. The Pros sound better, and have stayed in my ears. I also have the Sony WF 1000XM3, which, as much as I like them, also fall off my ears. The “ear falling” problem led me to try the Bose. Sound: I tried a number of songs on all 3. I streamed the music from Tidal Hi Fi, so they’re all at higher resolutions. I’ll list some here: 1. Are you even real? James Blake - this song sounded terrible on the Bose. Muffled to the point that I wonder if these headphones are working correctly. As you might have read, the Bose Music app doesn’t have an equalizer, so there’s nothing you can do on this one. On the AirPods Pro, the song sounded much better than in the Bose. On the Sonys, about 3% better than in the Pros. 2. Blinding Lights - The Weekend - This song came out great in all 3. Edge to Sony over the Bose, but not by much. It sounded tiniest on the Pros. 3. Morning Dance - Spyro Gyra. This is a classic smooth jazz song. The Bose won this round. The song was expansive, lots of small details came out, it was great. I also played a couple of Joshua Redman songs, and I would say the Bose sounded better on those. I feel that the Bose will probably play better jazz music, if that’s your thing. 4. Malamente - Rosalia. The Sonys won this round going away. Once again, the Bose sounded a bit muffled. Song was good on the Pros, but perhaps a little bit too trebly. 5. Paranoid Android - Radiohead. This song was really good on all 3, Bose was not that far off the Sonys. 6. The Only Thing - Travis. This was another song that the Bose couldn’t play well either. Once again the tinny, muffled sound came up. It felt like i turned the music down on the headphones (I didn’t). Definitely better on the Sony and Pros. Overall, on music playing, I would rate the Sonys number 1, especially if you use Tidal. For my taste, the “360 reality audio” does make songs sound better. The Bose are number 2, but not by much over the AirPods Pro with the Comply tips. The new ios update that added the spatial sound to the Pros with the Comply tips has made, to my ears, a huge difference. In fact, if you don’t listen to jazz, you might prefer the Pros. Microphone/Phone calls I did several blind test calls with my partner, so she could tell me which one sounded better to her. In all tests, she said my voice sounded “about 70% better” (her number) with the AirPods Pro. She said that my voice sounded “feminine” (I’m male) with the Sony/Bose compared to the AirPods Pro. I then tested the Bose and the Sonys with her as well. She said that the Bose sounded better. For the record, I did a call with my parents with the Bose, and they never complained that they couldn’t hear my voice well. They have complained several times with the Sonys (as well as other people). As for hearing phone calls, to my ears, the AirPods Pro sound more natural. I would say that the Bose are second. Phone calls are the Sony’s weakest link. If you want to use the headphones mainly for phones, as much as I love the Sony’s for music, their microphone is just not good. Fit AirPods Pro - the Pros have always felt comfortable to me. However, as I mentioned previously, the Pros routinely fall off my ears. They have fallen when I’m sitting on my desk, when I’m running, walking, or riding a bike. I NEVER had this problem with the original AirPods. The Comply tips arrived yesterday. I want to take them out on a run. For being in the house this past day, they’ve been a huge improvement. I’m glad I bought them. Sony - the Sonys fit comfortably in my ear. However, they will eventually fall off. This happens if I’m walking or exercising. I have to be checking them every few minutes. Bose - I will start with the good: they stay in my ears. I’ve tried them in the house so far, but they’ve been very stable. The bad: 2 things. (1) the tip flies off my ears. The small is too small to do anything. The medium and large just end up flapping, and have to adjust it. It’s very noticeable. (2) They hurt. They stay in my ear, but the seal is seemingly so tight that it hurts my earholes (the biology term is probably the concha). I used to have the old Bose Soundsport wired headphones, and the tip in those was incredibly comfortable and stable. I might be doing something wrong when putting them in, but this will probably lead me to return them. I won’t wear headphones, especially ones at this price, that hurt. Noise Cancelling: 1. Bose - they did a fantastic job with this. I stood next to the dryer, and I could barely hear it. My partner stood next to me to talk to me, and I couldn’t hear her either. If I turned it off to 0, I could hear her, but even then, the seal is so tight that it wasn’t fully perfect. On noise cancelling, these are far and away the best. If that’s the most important thing to you, stop reading the review and order them now. 2. AirPods Pro - I’ve always been amazed at how good the Pros block sound for their size. I’m looking forward to trying them outside with the Complys, as I think it will be even better. However, the Bose are better. 3. Sony - the Sonys block a lot of outside noise as well. I don’t know if it’s better than the Pros, but it’s right there. Hard for me to pick a number 2 here. Conclusion It’s possible that, if the Bose didn’t hurt my ears so much, that they could be the best overall set. I don’t like how some songs sound, but in others, it’s almost as good as the Sonys, which to me, are the standard. I actually have the Bowers Wilkins PX 7s, and I prefer how music sounds on the Sonys. However, given the pain on my ears, this is how I would rate all of them: 1. Music playing - Sony, Bose, AirPods Pro. 2. Phone Calls - AirPods Pro, Bose, Sony. (I will note that I get complaints on voice quality when using the PX7s as well). 3. Comfort - AirPods Pro with Comply tips, Sony, Bose (VERY last). 4. Noise Cancelling - Bose (by a lot), AirPods Pro, Sony.

Posted .Hi Lulu,
Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your WF-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones.
We're sorry to hear your having issues with your wireless headphones. We appreciate your feedback regarding the fit and sound quality of this WF-1000XM3. Sony commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience.
The WF-1000XM3 comes with different sizes of earbuds to ensure there is a great fit for all ear sizes and an optimal noise canceling experience. As a suggestion, to reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones, we recommend to try to use the right size according to the size of your ears. When wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold and better noise canceling experience. - To get the sound that you prefer, please try the different sound modes found in the Sony Headphones Connect app. There is even an EQ in there—which can be customized to fine-tune your music to your liking.
- Try playing another source on the device. For example, try another music app to see if the issue is with a particular app.
- When you listen to music from a computer on the headset, sound quality may be poor for the first few seconds after a connection is made. This is caused by the computer transmitting music at sound quality for communications at first, and it is not a malfunction.
Also, for optimum performance, please make sure that your headphones are running on the latest firmware version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.
