Does it Get Any Better?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow – what an exceptional set of earbuds. Sound quality is on point for this feature rich set of true wireless Goliaths. The feel is premium, both in the earbuds and the charging case. The Google Assistant is a nice touch and with the total overall battery life (including case charge cycles) of a full 24 hours, these are definitely a set of earbuds to be rivaled. As far as “cons” go, my wish list (albeit small) would include some sort of waterproofing for the future and maybe a slimmed down carrying case. Beyond that, I honestly don’t know what else to improve. I love the design and the quality is superb. If you're in the market for some premium truly wireless earbuds, I don't think you'll be disappointed with what the Sony WF-1000XM3s are bringing to the table (other than maybe a better name!)

You can probably do better for the money
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a big fan of these. They have several issues when it comes to connectivity. Sometimes refusing to pair with your device, and after pairing, will occasionally just drop the connection. Battery life is decent, I wish there was more notification prior to one of the earbuds dying. It will give you a low battery notification about 45-60 minutes prior, and then it just dies. Charger/case is a bad design. Bottom is round, so it must lay on its back or on its lid. Does not have wireless charging for the case, must be plugged in. Sound quality is good, however. And these are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

Solid headphones, a little pricy but worth
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The audio quality for these headphones is great, and the noise cancelling works extremely well. The battery life is good for the ear buds as well as the charging case. They come with multiple sizes of earbud inserts in foam and silicone. My only issues are that they will work their way out of your ears during work outs and will occasionally disconnect for no reason and then reconnect. They also disconnect if i hold the case close to my phone for some reason. If you're a runner or do any impact heavy activity they will fall out, but for general use they're great. Easy to set up, easy to use. Generally recommended

Best True Wireless Earphones Out There
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not sure of what to buy and purchased about 7 different earphones (Sony WF-1000XM3, Jabra Elite 65t, 75t, 85t, Google Pixel Buds, Samsung Buds Plus, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless) to try them all. I ended up having this Sony WF-1000XM3 and returned everything else. I am completely satisfied with the Sound Quality and no other earphones come close to it. To begin with, the packaging was good and pairing is very easy as it also has NFC pairing. The charging case and earphones together take 3 hrs to charge full, while earphones alone will take 90 minutes. I was impressed with the battery life as earphones gave around 6 to 8 hours for a single charge and the case gave an additional 3 full charges which make it almost 30 hours. I also used it for very long hours and find it very comfortable. Coming to the sound quality, I always like to have bass, but at the same time, I don't want to miss any vocals or musical instruments. And Sony somehow finds a perfect balance between them. I was amazed at how they sounded for the first time and felt that that is how the 360 reality audio would sound. But it is a totally different experience and Sony gave a free coupon to use compatible apps, just imagine how it might have sounded.....*No words*. I bought this at a huge discounted price of $ 168 and the best buy price matched it to $ 158 effortlessly, when I found it. However, there are 2 cons which I want to mention. The first one is having no water resistance, which is very important for me but I chose Sound Quality over it. The second one would be having no wireless charging for the case, BUT.............EHHH......WHO CARES......I LOVED THESE EARPHONES.

Quality sound with a handful of glaring flaws
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these after thoroughly researching wireless Bluetooth earbuds on the recommendation of a handful of audio review journalists. The sound quality is significantly greater than the vast majority of Bluetooth devices I've used and the signal stays strong if the options are properly set in the accompanying app. I haven't tested their waterproofing for fear of damage but after a few months of somewhat regular use, they're still in good shape. They're a bit bulky and occasionally uncomfortable, and they don't stay in or fit particularly well with any of the included tips. The ambient sound mode only seems to be effective for a brief period after activation but the noise canceling is quite potent when they can be adjusted to fit properly, however briefly. They don't stay in particularly well when jogging or moving at high speeds so I have to be careful not to lose them if I'm out and about. Often I'll find myself trying to readjust the fit and inadvertently pressing one of the touch sensors on the exterior of the earbuds, which can get annoying. The case is also fairly large and bulky but it does hold a long charge and recharges quickly. Overall I'd say their sound quality is fantastic but there are enough practical issues that I don't think the price point they typically sell at is reasonable. At a cheaper price, absolutely! The noise cancelling and Bluetooth technology involved seems pretty advanced but I don't know enough to claim one way or another - all I can say in conclusion is that it's hard to lean on good sound when the fit is poor. I'll be keeping them for a while, either way.

Too good sound, it doesn't fit properly.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would to compare three earbuds here Airpods pro, Samsung buds+, Sony WF1000xM3. Airpods pro - light weighted, doesnt feel like you are wearing them, good noise cancelling buds. Sound - cannot feel the bass , much crisp treble and slight bass. Compatible with both apple and android. But with android it is not as functional as it is with apple ( cannot see the battery level). Another downside of apple airpods, they are very smooth slip away from ur hands pretty easily and case is very smooth too, it can get scratches very easily. Once I was just walking, I ran into a friend and I tried to take the airpods out of the ear and it slipped out of my hands, thank God they didn't bounce on to the road. Gist : if I spend around 250 bucks, I shouldn't worry about handling and compromise on sound quality. Overall - 3/5 Sony wf1000xm3- Ooooowww! Sound is amazing, noise cancelling -top notch, bass is exactly what I needed and it's not too much and it's not too less unlike airpods pro. It has sensors that can actually help to pause, play, forward , rewind options. Good batter life, works well with both apple and android. They are not smoot to handle, and it has good grip so it doesn't slip away from hands. Downside - too big for my ears, you literally have to push the buds into ear canal. At one point it started hurting my ears because of the buds. I always felt they these earbuds gonna fall out and I have to keep checking them. Imagine a earpods resting on ur tragus of ear fir long period it hurts. Another downside is large case if I keep it my jeans, it pops out of my pant, so I recommend you carry a jacket if ur using them. Gist - good sound, poor fit. 3.5/5 Samsung buds + : Sound quality is better than apple and lesser than sony, feels pretty light in the ear, and fits pretty well. In these buds I noticed bass and treble are to the optimum. Not noise cancelling but once you play the music you hardly hear the surrounding noises. Case is not big, nor small it fits easily in any pockets, it has wireless charging option and battery stays longer than the above two. For lot cheaper than the above two and with good quality sound and fit, I would choose Buds+ Downside : relatively less sound quality compared with Sony , but other than that there's no downside to it. Gist : sound quality better than pods, fir better than sony. Overall 4/5

Great wireless headphones
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great headphones with great sound. The fit can be hit or miss. Once it fits, it isnt falling out. The touch controls are nice and easy to use. Noise cancellation is exceptional. Battery life has been great. Cons: no advertised water proofing, long stretches of use can cause ear canal fatigue due to all the pressure being solely placed on the ear canal. Also have had random disconnects and volume drops during music playback. It seems to be a problem with wireless headphones in general.

Finally! 3rd attempt finding good wireless earbuds
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Started off with Skullcandy 50/50s when I was wired, they were pretty good but apparently the thing I liked most about them was the loudness. Tried out their wireless options and discovered they weren't as loud, quality was meh, no app with associated features, etc. Went big with the Sennheisers for around $330, didn't find it to be a good bang for my buck. The features were there but was the sound quality good enough to justify the price tag? "Of course they are, are you mad?!" as they sip from their Sennheiser mug in their cozy Sennheiser sweater, listening to their FLAC audio tracks. Alas, I'm no audiophile. I discovered I wasn't nearly as blown away as my wallet was. I started looking into the Galaxy Buds because, you know, Samsung credit with my Note 10+ so why not? That's when I saw a review comparing them to these Sonys and, while even the review favoured the Galaxy Buds in the end (due to the price specifically, mind you), the stylish look (that colour scheme/case though, am I right?!), features, specifications, etc. had me wanting these pretty badly. Waited anxiously as I discovered these had just been released and Best Buy, Amazon, even Sony's own site had these listed at 10+ days away for shipping, and I'm dangerously impatient. Since I've gotten them, I've listened to probably 10x more music than I normally do, even listening to them right now as I type this. Sound quality is excellent. The noise cancellation works great. Ambient sound feature lets me walk through the store while still interacting with employees who bombard me and ask if I need help, because I'm too socially awkward to ignore them. Battery lasts me through a surprisingly long music session and charges back up quickly. 4/5 stars. Surprised to find you can't control the volume via touch like you can with competitors. No water resistance rating for when I pretend I go to the gym and sweat. The feature that pauses music when you take out one earbud is also a little finicky. Sometimes it'll start and stop playing randomly while I'm holding it in my hand and listening to someone/something. Used them daily since receiving just over 10 days ago. Will update if anything changes.

Solid TWS - too big however
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really liked the xm3, but I ended up returning them due to the large size. They stick too far out for listening while lying down in bed. The sound quality was spectacular and balanced. ANC was great but I did not use it. The case was nice, comfort & fit was solid. I would have kept them if they were not too big. I ended up with TWS from Cambridge Audio, which was small and better fit. I look forward to trying to XM4 someday (unless if something better comes out before).

Posted .Hi HSone,
While we're glad you like the stunning audio quality, noise cancellation, and overall comfort, it's unfortunate to know that the unit had to be returned. We're sorry to know if the headphones we're too big or bulky for you and they stick too far out for listening while lying down in bed.
The WF-1000XM3 features an Ergonomic Tri-hold structure design for a snugly and comfortably fitting. A high-friction rubber surface keeps the noise canceling earbuds snug and secure in your ear so they won’t slip out unexpectedly. These earbud headphones are quite comfortable to use and don't really interfere with the overall experience. However, when wearing these earbuds in bed, especially while trying to lay your face on one side of the pillow, the bulkier design can hurt your ears after a period of time.
We recommend having a look on the Sony website and you will be able to see details on the full range of our truly wireless earbuds and the feature that you are looking for.

Best true wireless headphones at the moment.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited on writing a review to these headphones to properly break them in and get some heavy use to have a better, more educated, approach to comparing them to other headphones I’ve had. I won’t touch on the features I believe are pretty common or even expected with true wireless headphones in this price range such as battery life, building material used, and connection stability. However; having had these headphones for a few months now I’m impressed by a few of its features. Firstly, the quality of sound, though can not out-perform traditional over ear headphones, are the best from the number of True wireless headphones I’ve owned over the past few years. Including those from big name brands like Apple, Jabra, and JBL. The bass kicks harder by far, and the highs and mids are right with the competition, no true noticeable advantage in those aspects imo. Secondly, the noise canceling and the ambient noise control are on par with some of the higher end headphones on the market. This is ofcourse in part due to the multiple inserts provided for one to play around with to best insulate the inner ears from outside noise. When compared to the Apple AirPods Pro, these provide a slight, but noticeable, advantage. The multiple inserts in addition to the ambient sound control that changes automatically depending on ones environment are a neat and helpful feature not provided in most other true wireless headphones (Download the Sony Headphone app to get the most use out of this feature!). The two cons I’ve found with these headphones are for one, their lack of water resistance. They slide out pretty easily when wet from rain or sweat and the sound is less impressive as well, so I don’t recommend using these to workout and would be careful in inclement weather. I took a star off for this reason due to the price of these headphones. For them not to perform well under such circumstances were a bit of a disappointment. Secondly, the user manual doesn’t do the best in outlining the initial set up, and the setting up of other devices for use with these headphones. Again, having the app from Sony helps clear up some of the troubleshooting in these aspects, but for the price; the app shouldn’t be needed and all information should be present upon receiving the product initially. Overall these headphones provide superior sound quality and features compared to others on the market in their price range. If you need a noise canceling headphone for commuting, travel, or making phone calls in public and these are in your price range a would recommend you look no further. If you are looking for a headphone that can handle a long workout or inclement weather I suggest a different product.

Great, albeit outdated
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The earbuds last a long time, rarely drop out, and have great audio quality. However, now that the WF-1000 XM4s are out, the downsides to these earbuds become increasingly more obvious. Its main issues all have to do with size, making these earbuds often somewhat restrictive in how you use them, which obviously isn't a desirable trait when it comes to wireless devices. The oversized earbuds make it hard to stay in your ear without needing to adjust them every 5-10 minutes. Over the year and a half I used these, it was quite common for the seal to break in my ear and have them slowly start to slide out. It's also quite a challenge to lay on your side at all with these earbuds due to how much they stick out of your ear. What's worse is that each earbud has a massive touch sensor on it, so attempting to adjust your falling out earbud or even sometimes just laying on your side can cause you to interact with them, since they work a little too well, even through clothing. The case is incredibly large as well, but honestly it's not the biggest deal in the world. It really comes down to how tight your clothes are and how big your pockets are, I suppose. These are all grievances I've accumulated over my year and a half experience with them, but I used them for this long because I really do enjoy them. The battery life is great, the sound quality is still comparable to the XM4s, and the ability to hear your environment with them in is very useful as well. All of these things are improved with the newest iteration, but they're more than good enough as is. I wouldn't recommend these if you plan on using them for working out, but otherwise, they really are great earbuds and the sale price at $129.99 for these is a pretty good deal.

While we're glad you like the great audio quality and overall battery life, we're sorry to hear if the headphones we're too big for you that make them hard to stay in your ears and they stick too far out while lying on your side.

You can select "none assigned "in the app to disable all touch function assignments to the touch sensors of both the left and right units. We recommend using headphones that were designed to be used for working out. These headphones can be used for work outs like running, however, this model doesn't have an IPX rating since it's not waterproof, unlike the WF-1000XM4, which has an IPX4 rating that can handle sweat or splashes from rain when you're working out. So make sure to prevent the water or sweat from entering the unit.

Excellent: Music, Comfortable, Secure.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: -Music sound is excellent relative to non-audiophile over valued brands such Bose & Beats. No distortion or perversion of the producer's intent like other brands. Flat to custom, Sony venerable reputation. Equalizer in app provides great control and customization...even for bass lovers. -Very comfortable and lightweight. -Great fit and seal just with the standard ear canal cushion out of the box. Secondary cushioning sits the earbud outside of ear canal, helping to passively provide a passive seal and secures it, so you can even turn off noise canceling to save battery. -Don't fall out. Shook-head-violently-test...they stay in. Excellent fit design. -Able to use one earbud at a time! Just turn off auto-pause, which is a feature to pause music when one earbud is taken out. Then you can just take one earbud out of the charger case and use normally. -Bluetooth connection is independent with each earbud and immediate as soon as placed in ear with an audible confirmation message. -Sound Quality Mode in App: make sure to use this so volume isn't neutered. Default is Stable Connection for the BT, like distance help when you may walk away from your phone. -Quick charging case helps a lot. Battery is average, but when you have to secure the earbuds in the case anyway, they're getting a quick charge. Cons/OK: -Battery lasts less than 3 hours for me with Noise Canceling & DSEE HX features running. Timed it several times over multiple days. Today, from 9am to 11am and shows 20% battery remaining right now. Workaround is whenever I take a break, I just put them in the case and they get a quick charge in 10 minutes to give back another 60-90 minutes. Turn off NC & DSEE to give a bit more battery, but I have never gotten more than 4 hours yet, so not sure if I need to exchange or return as it's advertised for 6 hours and I've never gotten it...battery could be a deal breaker because I expect this advertised rate, but all the other pros is almost canceling this con out. We'll see. Docking one star on because battery is average but practically you can live with it with the excellent charging case. As mentioned above in the pro, battery is charging quickly, so may be a moot point day to day. -Phone call sound is average to good, but not a deal breaker.

Amazing Sound
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These earbuds are incredible if you are inactive. The sound is amazing! They are functional using either earbud as a solo or using both as a pair; ambient sound only works when used as a pair. The battery life is good and they charge quickly. A couple of downfalls are the design is not for active use. They will fall out easy and should not get wet. In addition, the touch functionality is not very versatile. They are costly. I found the Samsung Galaxy Buds are more user friendly and perform just as well.

You really need to use the HiFi quality option that some streaming services provide. Theres so many different things youll notice that you havent before. Sound cancellation is awesome as well. Only small gripes are i wish they were a tad bit louder, smaller, and water resistant. Theyre rather large and not being water resistant makes them not so great to wear while working or exercising.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s amazing! At a few things. The audio and customization of the earbuds is amazing but the fact that they are pretty heavy and the connectivity between it and a phone is spotty keep it from being perfect. The case is also pretty big. Think of if you added the size of the AirPod and AirPod pro case into 1 chunky brick. Also don’t exercise in these. They have no water resistance rating and they fall out easily due to the weight of the earbuds.

Posted .Hi Owen,
Thank you for purchasing the WF-1000XM3 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones. It's unfortunate that you're not having the best experience with these headphones. We have taken note of your issues. Customer feedback is important to us because it helps us improve our products for the future. Good to know that you like the sound quality and you're utilizing the built-in equalizer on the Sony headphones connect app. The communication between the devices will be poor if there is an obstruction between the unit and the connected device. Try the following:
• For Bluetooth connection issue: The WF-1000XM3 has a new Bluetooth chip and an optimized antenna design to provide a stable connection for hours of wireless streaming. To ensure you get the best Bluetooth connection, please set the headphones Bluetooth Connection Mode to “Priority on stable connection”.
-Change the position or location of the unit or connected device.
-If the connected device has a cover on it, take it off to improve the communication distance.
-If the connected device is in a bag or in a pocket, try moving the position of the device.
-Place the devices closer together to improve signal transmission
We recommend using headphones that were designed to be used for working out. These headphones can be used for running. However, the unit is not waterproof. So make sure to prevent the water or sweat from entering the unit. If the earbud tips tend to come off, change the earbud tips to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears.
Thank you for sharing your feedback and for choosing Sony!
-Jess

Great Sound with a Quality build
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received these Sony Earbuds and was blown away by the quality of the materials that were used. The charging container is a great place to store the earbuds when not in use and displays a red light when charging the earbuds. The Sony's have an accompanying IPhone and Android app for changing the Earbud setting for sound, auto off when removing them from your ears and noise canceling settings. The app also shows the song that is playing. The sound quality matches the quality of build materials. The sound is crystal clean with smooth bass. The noise canceling is very effective at keeping outside noises. You and tap the side of the earbud to allow outside sounds in when someone is talking to you. Phone calls are equally clear. These are outstanding earbud and would be great for any travelers.

Could be better
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using these for about a month now, and from the time of purchase to now... my excitement about these have tremendously dwindled. I was super excited about these when I first bought them, seeing as I’m a die-hard Sony fan. 1. I don’t like that you are required to download an app for these to work correctly and they’re a little frustrating to connect to your device. I use an iPhone 11 and I’m constantly having connection issues with them. I’ll be listening to music and suddenly they’ll disconnect from my phone. 2. The microphone is very poor. So making/taking calls is not recommended when using these. 3. The way they sit in your ear makes them off-balance so they have a higher risk of falling out. 4. They lack some sort of tracking system. Competitors have them beat here. Previously, I used the Bose SoundSport buds and used to be an Apple Service Provider so am familiar with AirPods, both contain tracking systems in place in the event you lose one you can try and locate them. 5. The sound quality is astounding. I will always commend Sony for the ability to capture great audio quality in the majority of their products. I have never owned a pair of headphones that block out noise so well. 6. They lack speed. You may command your buds to do a task (like pause music, activate ambient sound or noise cancelling, etc) and it takes it a few seconds to think about it. 7. There’s very few command functions. They only allow for play/pause and ambient/noise-cancelling control functions. They lack the ability to activate a phone assistant. They advertise that it will work with Google, but there’s no present update in place that allows it to work for up-to-date iOS 13 devices. 8. Charging case is not wireless. For $250, I would hope to at least have this feature available, but they don’t. The case is also bulky so it’s not very convenient to carry around in tour pocket. You can get a case on Amazon for them to clip it to a belt loop (or wherever else), but the majority of the silicone case you can find are a flawed design. In a week of using it, the top part of the case fell off and was not recoverable. Ultimately, these are a great start to what I imagine Sony has in-store for this device. Right now, it’s very buggy and lacks functions seen in older competitor versions. I do not recommend using these with iOS devices as you can’t have Siri functions, but Android users may have more success. They’re an expensive, simple pair of wireless headphones that need serious improvements.

Great features and sound but one big let down
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a pair of the WF-1000XM3's a couple of days ago and I have some things to say about them. The sound quality that you get right out of the box is phenomenal and that doesn't happen very often at least not for me. The features that they have are great. I love using them when I can and it amazes me the difference between letting the ambient sound in and turning noise cancelling on. The one thing that let me down big time about these was the noise cancelling. I had hopes/expectations and they just weren't met. I was expecting them to have the same degree of noise cancelling as the headphone variant the WH-1000XM3 but it wasn't even close. I understand that they are in ear headphones but its just was I was expecting it being the in ear headphone variant. In some environments is was fine but in others, it was just like a pair of normal non noise cancelling ear buds. A lot of normal ear buds that I've used that don't have noise cancelling, I found to be better at blocking out the noise than these. The ear tips that they came with did not fit my ears. They came with small, medium and large silicone and comply foam ear tips and none of them fit. I had to use a pair from another pair of ear buds that I had and that made it better but still not the best. It was also difficult to find the right fit for me. I had to fiddle around with them to get them in the right position in my ear. The battery life is exactly what Sony says it is. I would say if you are choosing between the headphone or earbud variant, I would spend the extra money and get the headphones. You'll get your moneys worth and also better performance. For me the WF-1000XM3's are not worth the $230 price tag.
