Follow the steps below to isolate the issue.
- Using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can customize the Equalizer setting and change the assignment of the functions to the touch sensors of both the left and right units . For example, the music playback function that is assigned to the touch sensor of the right unit in the factory setting can be changed to the touch sensor of the left unit.
Note: You cannot operate the touch sensor when not wearing the headset. If you change the setting on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app so that the headset does not turn off by the automatic power off function by wearing detection, you can operate the touch sensor even when not wearing the headset.

These are my first pair of bluetooth headphones and I LOVE them. Very good bass and crisp treble...I just wish they played back a little louder maybe 25% louder but other then that no complaints at all. 5 stars for me.

Beware iOS users...

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This issue has been reported on the Sony subreddit with users who own the iPhone XS, XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone 8/8+. During music streaming, the quality will drop for a few seconds until it goes back to normal. It's extremely apparent and happens a couple of times during a song. I've changed multiple settings on the Sony app, but nothing fixes it. Upon research, it seems like the bluetooth encoding that happens on the software/hardware side of these earphones is much more stable on Android phones than on newer iPhones (go on the Sony subreddit to learn more about AAC vs SBC encoding). Sony is expected to drop a software update for this product in the next 2 weeks, but there has been no response from Sony as of yet regarding this issue. If this software update doesn't fix it, I'm going to have to look at other options that provide stable connections on iOS. If you're an Android user, these are amazing earphones.

The communication between the devices will be poor if there is an obstruction between the unit and the connected device. As a suggestion, you may try setting the Sound quality mode (Bluetooth connection) to Priority on stable connection (via Sony Headphones Connect app) and see if it resolves the problem. Also, check that the headphones are running on the latest firmware version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.

I have the Bose, it is wired but incredible. I tried the new apple airpods, but they are not noise canceling. Sony’s were better than apple but a little bulky and I really dislike the voice notifications that tell when you are connected and when you are not. I returned them.

With music playing you can barely hear someone yell at you from 5 feet away. Battery doesn't last the 6 hours, more like 4 to 5 hours, but they charge super fast.

They sound great out of the box, but the Sony app lets you unlock more features and customization to make them sound better. It comes with traveling hardware and the battery power lasts as they state Charging the earbuds is easy. The snap into the charging case magnetically, and only go in one way. Red and blue lights tell you if they hare being charged or done. You can pair them through NFC with the case and BT. Physically, the best thing you can do to get the best sound and comfort is to get the proper earpads for a good fit. It comes with a set on the earbuds and 6 more sets from L to SS in two different materials. They are easy to pull on and off so you can get the right fit. Inserting them is simple. Slide them in a twist a bit per the instructions, and they settle in fine. They are not sweat or water resistance, but so far that hasn't been a problem. Once paired and inserted the Sony headphone app allows more customization. The app allows you to change the earbud controls, sound/noise cancellation settings, equalizer, power options, battery charge remaining, and a link to the sony music center if you use it for playing music. Sound quality and connection was great with new devices. I tried them with an older device and it didn't have the BT version needed, so the sound was mono over both earbuds. Pulling out either earbud auto pauses music and putting it back in starts playing again. The option works really well. Noise cancellation is on par with any other earbuds or headphones I've tried. Blocked out fans, background noise and no hissing. The ambient sound control lets you adjust the sound to allow voices to come through so you don't have to take out the earbuds to hear people. It works well. A tap on the left earbud cycles through the sound reduction options. I can listen to someone and then just go back to full noise cancellation. The equalizer and bass enhancement options are nicely done. The bass is not muddy and overwhelming. There are manual and preset equalizer options. Adaptive sound control tires to adjust the noise cancellation options depending on what you are doing. It seemed to work okay for me in limited attempts. Tapping the earbud and doing it manual means no switching surprises. The only thing you can do with the earbuds is adjust volume by physical means. The charger will hold three full recharges when fully charged. I was able to recharge 30% of the earbud batteries in 5 minutes. The connection never dropped for me whether in connection of sound priority mode. The earbuds are small and light. I didn't notice them after a while once I had the proper sized earpads on. Call quality was good. People could hear me with no issues. An occasional echo was the worst anyone ever heard, but the voice was clear. Sony has packed a lot of features into these earbuds and they are worth it. The music playback captured the full range of music. Great music playback, comfortable, and block out noise leaves you just enjoying the music. If you are looking for noise cancelling earbuds, these should work for anyone.

The sound quality is great and I love the feature of being able to hear the noise around you when you want. Some noise canceling headphones only have one mode.
