Awesome Noise Cancellation - Unless Windy

I enjoy the comfort, fit and most importantly the noise cancellation. I have the WH-1000XM3. The noise cancellation is pretty comparable. Now you must understand that in-ear will NEVER block outside noise as much as over-ear. With that said, it blocks outside noise AMAZINGLY for an in-ear. The only complaint is that if there is ANY wind. You're hearing it and it's not being blocked. Not really for outdoors as it is for airports, coffee shops, etc. If you want this for outdoor noise cancelation, get an over ear. Otherwise, I have no complaints and it's actual in-ear sound is the best I've heard. Oh, and buy a case cover unless you don't mind easy to get scratches.

    Best true wireless headphone 2019

I had the Beoplay e8 headphones before this and that one has a bit better bass, but can only use the right headphone if I wanted to use one earphone only. Had these for a week, the noise canceling is working good. I leave it on bass boosted mode unless I am watching a movie or video, there is a speech mode. For the price, I would recommend over AirPods and other competitors at the $300 range. They may not have a ip rating and no volume on headphone is a bummer, but get these headphones with a Best Buy protection plan and you’ll be set for the gym. May be bigger than other true wireless headphones, but the noise cancellation and quality sound is worth it. Use it with my iPhone XS, no problems so far

      Hi Invisibleshield,

Thanks for the 4-star rating! We're glad to know you're enjoying the overall sound quality, ease of set up, and long-lasting battery life of your new WF-1000XM3 headphones. We value your input and appreciate the feedback.

For fit issue, the WF-1000XM3 comes with different sizes of earbuds to ensure there is a great fit for all ear sizes and an optimal noise canceling experience. Please use the right size according to the size of your ears. When wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold and better noise canceling experience. Feel free to test them again once done with our suggestions. For more details, refer to the link below.

    Best Sounding True Wireless Earbuds

These are the best sounding true wireless earbuds you can buy from best buy at the moment. The app allows you to customize the active noise cancelling functions as well as the frequency levels. The highs sounds crisp, mids are present and the bass is more than enough without any distorting even at higher volumes. The icing on the cake would have been a bit of water and sweat resistance/proofing. Price is a bit steep, but you get what you pay for!

My journey started 1.5 years ago, I bought some Bose Soundsport Free's. After 1.5 years the connection was started to fail so I used the 2 year plan to trade them in. First the Jabra Active 65t, then the Sony 1000's which didn't charge out of the box. Then Beats, I had to lose my 2 Year plan (Cause they are made by apple - WHY?) and I returned them all to get these as soon as released. Let me say these have renewed my faith in quality earbuds. I walk 1/2 mile from the train station to work every day and back. The first day I had these on, and I had them pretty loud I suppose when someone asked me a question while walking. I HEARD THEM! The App will let you hear environment even if you got some old Boston rocking through your skull. That was an impressive moment. You can turn the ability to hear around you off, but I wouldn't recommend it. It's helpful to know your surroundings, and it doesn't detract from your listening. The case charges the earbuds, but the battery can last up to 9 hours. You could leave the case at home if you wanted. The app can tell if you are walking, sitting still or transporting (via car/bus/train/etc.) and will automagically change the environment to suit. Finally a company has come to the 21st century on wireless earbuds. RECOMMEND HIGHLY!

Awesome Sound Call Quality needs work

Purchased these a few weeks ago and just recently returned last night. I usually research very thoroughly before purchasing most products and did the same with these. My biggest concerns from reviews was the call quality of phone calls but I was hoping the newest firmware upgrade alleviated this issue. I was wrong. I had several conversations where the other part had a extremely hard time hearing or understanding what I was saying. The second frustrating deal breaker for me was the connectivity to my iphone. I have used several other blue tooth head pieces for phone calls, watching videos and listening to music in the past with no connection issues whatsoever. The Sony's were hit or miss in regards to whether the device would stay connected. There were several instances where the buds showed connected and I would be listening to music but the Sony software could not connect to the device so I could alter settings. Other times it was the opposite where the phone said the buds were connected but I couldn't hear anything. Usually a disconnect and reconnect of the Blue tooth would fix the problem but still annoying. The sound quality was unbelievable. I highly recommend downloading Tidal and listening to their high quality audio files from their app and comparing to your music in Itunes or Spotify there is a difference that you will appreciate through the Sonys. I returned and will wait for Sony to come out with a new model that fixes these issues.

These were out of stock for a few weeks, and after reading all the reviews, I was so stoked to get these supposedly "best-in-class" earbuds. It didn't take long to find my disappointment after eagerly anticipating these giving me the best experience. To compare, I have been using the Jabra Elite Active 65t for a week and half in the interim, while I wait for the Sony's to show up. So, to be clear, my review is biased by my experience with the Jabra Elite's. Fit: The Jabra fit perfectly in my ear and felt secure. No need for noise-canceling when you have a secure fit. The Sony's felt loose and no matter which tip I tried, nothing felt secure as if it closed out the sound. The Sony's just feel like they will fall out. I kept trying to push it further into my ear and ended up losing one of the tips inside my ear and had to fish it out. Sound (Music/Voice): Comparitively, the Jabra's have a richer sound. The Sony's bass is not going to impress anyone that likes a good bass line that can vibrate the brain a little. I suppose one could argue that the Sony's have a clearer sound, but for someone who may have a slight bit (very slight) of hearing damage from my DJ'ing days, I wasn't impressed with the volume, bass, or the depth of sound. Frankly, I prefer the Jabra's deeper bass lines and higher volume. Features: I can't really tell on this one. The cutesy features that Sony has added is really not much to talk about. Noise-canceling? Sure, you can hear a difference between when it's off/on, but it isn't any different than the secure fit I get from other headsets with great ear tips that can seal out the sound. I don't really know what the purpose of the Ambient sound is for? None of this seems to improve the call quality or sound. Call Quality (Most important to me): This was the kicker and the core reason why I will return these Sony's. The first call I made, the person on the other end of the line couldn't hear me at all. I certainly didn't expect a lot of "Huh? What did you say? I can't hear you." I made about 10 different test calls in various locations (office, car, grocery store), and about 75% of the calls were so bad that we couldn't have a normal conversation when paired with my iPhone X Max. I tried every configuration I could to get a clear call, but nothing worked. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated, being that this was the most important feature to me since I spend a minimum of 6 hours/day on the phone. Overall: My opinion was biased due to my week+ long use of the Jabra Elite's, but I was seriously disappointed and will be returning the Sony XM3's today. The Jabra fits better, sounds better, has better call quality, and has a lower profile in the ear than these Sony's do. I hope this helps before you drop $230 with high expectations.

As billed, these are great for noise cancelling and music. They fit into your ears pretty easy. They irritated my ears a bit but after you get used to them, they're really nice. I bought these to also use in the bedroom so I don't interrupt my wife when I want to watch TV. They're not the best for this applications, but they do work. It was tough getting them paired and connected and there are virtually NO good instructions on things. I guess a few pictures are good for general intl help, but you actually need more than a couple of simple drawings to figure some things out.

The hair in my crown is thinning a little and wearing those gamer headsets make it worse. Since Last year, I started using in-ear headphones and they work really great for me. I was using the Jaybird Vistas for a while and even though it was great for working out, they were terrible for computer usage. I could barely use it 3 hours before it started losing charge. It also took forever to charge them back. I had to upgrade to something better. Enter the XM3 headphones and my god are they amazing. I've been using it for 3 days now and I can instantly tell the difference. I used the headphones for more than 5 hours and put them back in charge because I had to do something. I came back after 15 minutes and they were fully charged again. That is beyond insane for me. I notice a lot of reviewers hate that it's so large or how massive the case is but I think you should also consider it based on your needs. This has surpassed what I needed and I am beyond happy with my purchase. Sony is really doing something special with their headphones and I hope they continue to remain competitive so we see more innovation in this segment.

These headphones are some of the best noise canceling portable buds on the market. Unfortunately, they're not for everyone. Having read the mixed reviews on the fit and comfort of these headphones, I decided to give them a try anyways. Over the course of a week, I found them bulky and uncomfortable. After about 30 minutes of use, they gave me an ear ache, no matter the position they were in. I do know that some reviews mentioned the need for other tips to make this bearable, but decided that it wasn't worth the effort. The galaxy buds+ offer a better price and fit for now.

I want to start off by saying even with the five stars I gave it my first pair developed an issue a week in and the left bud stopped connecting altogether. I’ve worked enough retail to know these QC issues just happen and I don’t fault these headphones a bit. I bought these for the insane list of features over standard airpods or galaxy buds. Including noise cancelling/ability to hear my surroundings with ambient sound, 6-8hour battery life depending on NC, quick charge, replaceable eartips, and the ability to use both buds separately. This is one of the few models that can allow me to get through a full day at work switching between each bud. Ambient sound lets me hear my customers come in while I work on projects around the store. During breaks I can cut out annoying tween coworkers if I need to. I normally Listen to an Audeze planar headphone, but it’s starting to bother me in more public settings. I briefly tried out the over ear model of these Sony’s and they really are some of the best you can do for consumer wireless. For noise cancelling I was amazed at the sound, but still felt they would be better for air travel than a daily work companion in a quiet store. I waited and got lucky to see so much of what I liked about the 1000x3 over ears end up in these wireless buds. I would say overall they have the least amount of compromises for the money compared to any other model out there and sound extremely close to the over ear for 2/3 of the price. I’ll keep an eye out for the issues I had before and give them a more thorough testing this time around, but I’m expecting a lot of good things out of this model.

These are great! With noise cancelling on even with no music playing, I can barely hear people having a conversation outside my door. Minus 1 star for (currently) small issues: 1) I've tried the different sizes of comfort covers but none keep the right earbud from either twisting (losing the full noise cancelling effect) or hurting because its jammed in. 2) A couple times, I've lost sound in the right earbud. "Rebooting" it by putting it back in the case for 30 seconds fixes it, but I'm concerned this will continue to happen.

I was super disappointed in these buds after reading everyone else's reviews. I have regular sized and shaped ears and could not get these buds to fit securely with any of the numerous tips they provided. I tried watching every tutorial on how to get a better fit and nothing worked. If you're laying down or sitting down they'll work, but forget any type of movement. Also, the volume was ridiculously low. They're just loud enough in a quiet room listening on full blast to be useable. Tried to turn them up in the app by changing every setting and they were still only half as loud as my Jabra 65ts and at about 80% of my Buds live. Their only redeeming factor to prevent a 1 Star review is their noise cancellation. When I say this is superb, it is absolutely amazing. I tried cutting my grass with these in and they completely blocked out the drone of my electric lawnmower until they would inevitably fall out after about 10 steps. If you take public transportation I could see these being good for sitting on the subway or a public bus, but outside of that there's a handful of cheaper ear buds that are better for everyday use.

      Hi Dtorre,

Thanks for taking the time to review your WF-1000XM3. We regret to hear that you are having issues with your wireless headphones. Your feedback about the low sound level is greatly appreciated. We appreciate your effort on trying all the earbud tips that came with the unit.

For fit concern, the WF-1000XM3 features an Ergonomic Tri-hold structure design for a snugly and comfortably fitting. A high-friction rubber surface keeps the noise canceling earbuds snug and secure in your ear so they won’t slip out unexpectedly. To ensure optimal performance, as well as to obtain the best fit and prevent the headset from falling out, when wearing them, please gently pull on the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear. This should give you a firmer hold.

      For low sound level
      • Please make sure that your headphones are running on the latest firmware version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.
      • When playing music, adjust the volume on the connected device. If you are unable to adjust the volume on the connected device, install the “Sony | Headphones Connect” smartphone app and adjust the volume in the app.
      • Connect the Bluetooth device to the headset once again.

Ive held off on reviewing my sony earbuds because I needed time to get familiar with them. At first they kept falling out of my ears, so first off is that their durable little buds. The earbud took about a 10' fall and I thought it was finished. I fetched the little bud returned to my ear and what do you know boy was i impressed, it function without a hitch. So after a few more fallouts it was time to figure out which size of earpiece I needed. The sony WF-1000XM3 earbuds with noise cancelling come with a variety of different interchangeable rubber ear fittings. Great because like many otheres my ears werent exactly the same. Once I found my fit they have yet to take another fall, the WF-1000XM3 ARE VERY COMFORTABLE as well. I use them while I work so their in from 7am to 4pm with NO discomfort. You can listen to music ambient sound on or off or if you choose noise canceling. There also a number of different apps to choose from so you can set different preferences on equalizers to get just the right sound. From deep bass to crisp highs the choice is all yours. Dont get me wrong the sound great with or without the differet apps at your disposal. They also come with a case that doubles as a charging platform so you'll have the use of them on the go in remote Avenues where charging can be an issue. So I give the sony WF-1000XM3 4.5 STARS. TRUST ME YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THESE BUDS.

I can say I am not a big fan of these earbuds. I originally bought for my husband as a Christmas present. The reviews said great noise canceling so after reading numerous reviews I chose these over AirPod Pros. Oddly, he purchased Air Pod Pros for me (we think alike). Christmas Day we realized the Air Pod Pros have much better noise-canceling. I didn't need noise canceling so I swapped my husband :) These earbuds have great sound when I get them to work right. They cut out when they want, the tapping on the bud to switch songs, etc is crappy. Sometimes it only recognizes 1 tap instead of 2 and pauses the music. They constantly cut out in the middle of phone calls so I cannot use them at work. I cannot answer a call on them as 1/2 the time they are not connected. They are big and constantly fall out of my ears. They are just designed weird and top-heavy. BTW.. I have a brand new iPhone ProMax so the Bluetooth is fine, it's not the phone. I cannot find my receipt so I guess I am stuck with these :( Save the aggravation and spend the extra $20 on the Apple AirPod Pro.

Don't get me wrong, these headphones sound great! You definitely don't miss a beat listening to music thru these buds but I had to return them. The problem I had was they just didn't stay in my ears when walking around. I was seated and not moving as much they were perfect but the minute I got up they felt loose and I feared dropping and losing one. I tried the different fittings but no luck. I hated giving them up but if you manage to keep them in your ears then you won't regret buying these! Suggestion for SONY: Maybe put over the ear hooks on them.

Hi Czr123, We regret to hear that the headphones had to be returned. Sony provides different sizes of earbuds to obtain the best fit and prevent the headsets from falling out. We recommend selecting the earbuds that fit your ears the best and wear the headset correctly. The earbud will be easier to slide deep into your ear if you pull up on the top of the ear lightly while twisting the headset: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wf1000xm3/v1/en/contents/TP0002392265.html. We appreciate your feedback and we hope you will consider Sony again in a future purchase. Thank you. -Vincent Sony_US

Overall good sound quality, material, and ANC. Right earbud disconnects from time to time but a quick reboot fixes it.

First headphones I've owned with ANC and they're pretty great. They fit well (come with lots of different sized tips) and sound amazing. The noise cancelling is effective but not overbearing. The app is pretty good. It's been updated at least twice in the five months I've owned the buds. Battery is excellent, and they get plenty loud. Quality seems way above average. Worth the price.
