While we're truly happy that you like the stunning sound quality and you appreciate the overall features of the headphones, it's unfortunate to know you've been running into some issues with the headphones battery life is short. For available operating time of the unit, the usage hours may be different depending on the settings and conditions of use. Also, when the Equalizer function is used, the playback time will be shorter by about 45% at most. Check the Available operating time in your model's Help Guide for operating times of the headphones on a fully-charged battery. If you enable the some functions, the operating time will be shorter.

The noise-cancelling on these earphones are the best I've experienced. I can truly focus on my work, listen to music, and not have any distractions. I don't talk on the phone much, but the call quality is great. My only qualm (and this is probably my fault for not being familiar with technology) is that every time I get a notification the noise goes off in the headphones. Maybe one day I'll figure out if this is an option to turn off.

Sony seems to be right on the cutting edge of noise cancellation in the over the ear headphone (wh-1000xm3) but for several reasons, these earbuds fall short of 5 stars. Unboxing I noticed that the packaging was classic Sony and felt quality. I saw that Sony had already placed rubber tips on the earbuds and included 6 other sets that varied between rubber and silicone. Why so many, I wondered. The charging case has a flat top and a round bottom. The Sony logo is on the top, which is kind of weird to me since if you wanted to sit these up then the Sony logo would be facing down. Kind of strange but whatever, this is from a company that named these earbuds WF-1000xm3 instead of Sony Soundbuds or some other easily identifiable name. I already had the sony app on my phone and I paired them with my iphone x pretty easily and I tried them out. I thought the sound was pretty good, messed around with the eq built into the app and got the sound tweaked to where I wanted it. Awesome. I won't get into what types of audio it accepts or doesn't, I do podcasts and spotify for the most part and it works for me. There is a very slight lag in watching videos. It doesn't bother me but I'm sure it would irritate someone who concentrates heavily on such things. Is the sound as good as my Bose Soundsport Free earbuds? Probably, plus these are noise cancelling. The app allows you to control the tap functions on the side of the earbuds and switch those controls from bud to bud. Noise cancellation on this set is not as good as Sony over the ear headphones which I kind of expected, but still pretty dang impressive. When noise cancelling is on, you can still make out some noises in the background. Tapping on a keyboard, my kid talking etc.. They do a good job though, for earbuds...so maybe I'm just being picky. Through the app you can control how much sound gets through the buds, which is nice. Every now and then i'll get random "dings" in the earbuds, not really sure what that is...I go to the app and nothing shows up. I charged the case when I first got them about a week ago and have tried them out every day for anywhere from 20 min to a few hours and whenever I pull them from the case, they're fully charged. Good job Sony. You can check the battery charge on the app for each bud, which you can use independent from one another. If you need one ear to be free just put one in the charger while using one bud in your ear. So you may be asking why are they not 5 stars? 2 reasons in my book. Sony, what are you thinking with the fitment? 1 these are not dust or water rated so that's kind of strange, maybe they have something in the works for a new model. They weigh right around the same as a Bose Soundsport free which are IPX4 rated, but Bose puts a wing on the rubber part of their bud so that it hugs the inside of your ear. Sweet, I can go work out, mow the lawn, sweat do whatever without any fear of them falling out. Not so much for Sony. I delayed writing this review due to the fact that these things have fallen out of my ears twice while doing very little. The first time it was late evening and I'm trying these out standing at the sink washing baby bottles, and I felt the left one starting to slip out. Hands covered in water and soap I didn't feel comfortable grabbing them and I backed away from the sink and dried off my hands and began to shove them back into my ear. While doing so I hear "ambient sound" because the controls are very sensitive and on the sides of the buds. The second time they nearly fell out I was listening to a podcast, started laughing and when I smiled my jawbone/ear area I guess moves up and the right earbud pops out. (Yes my ears are clean.) I remember using my wifes airpods once while cutting the grass and having one fall out from sweatting and the feeling of my stomach dropping when I almost ran it over with the mower. Never again. I've tried every size that they offer on these, I'm not sure what else to do. I tried to put my bose rubber buds on with the wings that would hold it to my ear but they, of course, fit differently. This basically makes this a device that I really only feel comfortable using while I'm very stationary. Take them to the gym? No. Mow the grass? Probably not since they fell out washing bottles. Does this leave an area for another company to come in and create an aftermarket rubberized ear piece that fits and hugs the inside of your ear? Yes, but that should not have to happen at what these cost. Would I recommend these to you? Maybe. I don't know if they'll stay in your ear but if they do, they work great and sound good! The app is cool and the options in the app can be seen below in my pros and cons. I floated between giving these a 3 or 4. The sound is great, noise cancelling good, but the fitment is bad. TLDR Pros and Cons Pros: Sound quality great App is great Noise cancellation good Case/bud construction feels quality Buds fit close to your ears Cons: None of the tips stay in my ear Not sweat/dust rated

Way Beyond Expectations

They were a desperate attempt to escape a noisy workplace but these have surpassed my expectations. Not only do they block out the noise but listening to my phone through the Bluetooth is a riot. My only complaint is that to block out all the noise they have to be quite snug in my ears so I sacrifice a bit of the noise-canceling and use a narrower tip from the dozen that come with the earphones. I haven't tested the two-way phone conversation functionality.

The only downside is call quality. If you have an android device (specifically Samsung) buy the Galaxy Buds Pro first.

One of the possible resolutions to the issue is by updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.
Make sure your audio source device supports the A2DP Bluetooth profile. Next, register the headset using the computer. The WF-1000XM3 headphones immediately goes into pairing mode when used for the first time. However, the second time you pair it, you will have to put the headset in both ears, then hold your fingers to the touch sensors on both the left and right units for about 7 seconds. You will hear voice guidance “Bluetooth pairing” from the left unit. On your audio source device, enable Bluetooth pairing.

Use it during my job and charging at night. Battery still lasts but after just 1 year, it start of losing power, which I expect to be longer than that for 200usd earbuds, maybe now are lot cheaper but I mean ... this should be top on their time

They look good, they charge in a portable wirelews case, and the sound is excellent and helps mitigate my severe hearing loss. They can be used with google assistant. My only issue is how complicated it can be to put the headphones in pairing mode, but if you can get past that, these headphones are absolutely worth the money, theyre the kind of item you wont even consider returning

I can't believe they're this good

These are less expensive and the ANC is as good as the WH-1000XM3. I also purchased aftermarket earbud tips instead of the ones shipped with the device, and when combined when ANC, results in near total silence. Amazing.
