    Mega-bass but overly? touch-sensitive

These buds redefine the amount of bass you can expect to get from earbuds. I happen to love bass, and I love the convenience of earbuds, but to get really good bass, I generally had to wear over-ear headphones. It was just a compromise I had accepted as a limitation with the size of earbuds. Not with these Sonys though. The amount of bass these put out is beyond anything I thought possible with earbuds. And using the Sound Connect app and its equalizer (or preset adjustments), you can dial it up even more. I really just can't say enough about the sound quality out of these. The physical design is also a step up from the last pair of Sonys I used regularly. These fit into the ear much better, have better balance, and feel more secure. Rather than having buttons, these are touch-sensitive, which can be a problem with the wrong design. I have another pair of touch-sensitive buds that are impossible to adjust with accidentally stopping your music or turning off noise-cancelling. These, at least, can be periodically adjusted without inadvertent activation, though I did discover that wiping sweat from around my ear while working out would set off the touch-sensor a lot. While they held up to the sweat just fine, the inadvertent touches mean I won't use them during cardio. The quality of the noise-cancelling was also very good. Overall, just excellent technical performance with a minor complaint about inadvertent touches.

The only earbuds I've ever really liked

Context: I am not an audiophile. I mostly wear any Bluetooth audio device while being active- i.e. walking, running, biking, etc.. I've tested a LOT of earbuds & headphones- over the ear, in the ear, open, bone conduction, with & without ANC, etc.. I've generally made a couple observations for myself: 1) I must have funny shaped ears because in-the-ear earbuds rarely stay in when being active, so 2) I almost always gravitate to wearing earbuds with an over-the-ear hook so I don't have to worry about losing them 3) connected apps are cool, but not necessary (for me) As for the Sony - WF-C710N Truly Wireless Noise-Canceling Earbuds, they were a surprise exception! - The very first time I took them out of the package, I went for a 4 mile run & THEY STAYED IN!! That had never happened before with a pair of in-ear earbuds. - Typically, I've not found ANC to be very effective in earbuds, but the Sony - WF-C710N's ANC really seemed to work pretty well; it was made even better by the ability (in the useful app!) to make the ANC change automatically for different situations- e.g. on when sitting still & off when being active. - Also in the app is the ability to control the equalizer All in all, and especially at this price point, the Sony - WF-C710N's are the best earbuds I've ever used!

    Good Headphones Overall

In the box is the headphones in a charger case, usb-c to usb-c charge cord, starter guide and a QR code to the Sony Connect app. First impression - Right out of the box, these headphones in their case have a lightweight yet surprisingly durable design. The case comes with a charging cord but it does not come with an adapter to plug into the wall. The headphones also come with a starter guide and an included with a QR code to Sony’s Connect app, but they are ready to use right out the box. The connect app is pretty convenient to have for customization purposes and the Spotify Tap feature. Spotify tap selects a playlist, radio, or mix from your Spotify to change up the vibe at the tap of your finger. Whatever your most recent 6 playlist or mixes that appear on your page will be selected in order from most recent first. Unfortunately in the app, you can’t customize individual button presses, each ear is either assigned music control or quick access which are their own list of commands. As for commands, the earbuds make an audible sound whenever you tap so you know which command you’re entering, but don’t wait for the sound because then you’re entering the input too slowly. The app also offer the ability to connect two devices at once, however connecting two devices simultaneously simple means it’s easier to switch between the two, not that you can actually use both at the same time. I only have one complaint, I turned off adaptive immediately, as it is useless and battery draining. For context, the place I most often where headphones is while moving, whether it be cleaning, exercising outside, or working. The headphones try to detect whether you are moving or sitting to alter the level of noise control, but I find myself slightly annoyed at the constant change in sound. It doesn’t make a sound to alert you that it’s switching, I’m assuming to make it feel more seamless, then I am left with sudden quietness or loudness as the noise canceling switches. The case itself is light, but has a sturdy magnetic lock that eases my worry that if it’s dropped they won’t go flying. When the headphones are in the case and you open it, the light display tells you the charge of the headphones not the case. Confused me slightly because I noticed the light was orange even though I had just pulled it off the charger, but of course the headphones themselves were dead (this was of course after hours of use, they were halfway charged out of the box). The headphones themselves have great sound, plenty of bass and clear. I will say the noice canceling leaves some to be desired, but isn’t bad. It certainly muffles most quiet sounds, but I can still clearly hear conversations nearby with the noise cancellation on if the music isn’t at least 50% volume. On the other hand ambient sound is very nice, you can hear your surroundings clearly with a touch of music. Calls are very clear, I normally have to have max volume for all calls but it is crisp enough to understand even at half volume. Overall, I would recommend these headphones to friends and family.

    Budget Noise-Canceling Earbuds

The Sony Truly Wireless are an ok budget noise-canceling earbud. I prefer other brands but they are more expensive. These do have all day comfort and are lightweight. The noise-canceling is good and sound quality is ok. They worked for taking phone calls, the people on the other end said they could hear me fine but I often found them to be too quiet and the volume was maxed. My other buds work better for me hearing the calls. I do like that you can use these with one ear and that you can easily swap functionality between sides to better support your preferred ear. This is handled in the app. I liked the ease of using the controls and all the customization. It's nice that the music will stop and start just by taking the buds in and out of your ears. I found this useful in the gym when someone wants to talk to me, there's less fumbling around with controls. However, speaking of the gym, I would not recommend these for working out. The slightest amount of sweat and they kept falling out. I was running on the treadmill and I had to keep pushing them into my ear. I did not like the ambient sound mode. A lot of times I don't need noise-canceling and I want to hear my environment. When I maxed out the ambient sound I still didn't hear a lot of what was going on. I definitely couldn't have a conversation even with music paused. It also seemed like I didn't get very much battery out of the case. The earbuds held their charge pretty well but the case seemed to drain fast. The case doesn't feel very durable either. These have an interesting Adaptive Sound Control that will change your settings base on what you are doing and where you are. It sounded good on paper but I really didn't care for this. It requires the app to track you constantly and then it will change if you are sitting or moving. When at the gym I wanted to hear people around me so I know if I need to move and the Adaptive Sound kept turning on noise-cancellation. I'm sure over time I could fine tune this but I didn't care to put the energy into it. There's also 360 audio that gives you a more immersive feel but the best I could tell was that you needed special apps with subscriptions to use this. The demo sounded good but I'm not looking for my money going towards extra subscriptions. At the end of the day I really wouldn't recommend these unless someone was on a budget or they were going to use noise-cancellation a lot.

    Just decent for mid-range headphones

These are okay, I'm not the biggest fan of mid-range headphones as they sacrifice on features or sound quality or both. If you spend a little more, you can get something better. Specs can be found online so I won't go over them here rather I'll just focus on my experience. Pairing with my iPhone and my MacBook was generally effortless. The app has a lot of features but I've always found Sony's app way too cluttered (like they're instruction manuals) and utterly confusing to use. I used to own a pair of Sony over the ear headphones and felt the same way about them. So, I just decided not to use the app unless I really needed to. So, focusing just on quality and other experiences, I felt that the sound was decent but comparing them to another pair of earbuds made by another company that costs just a little bit more, there was no competition - the Sony's just don't hold up to the others. I also don't like the touch control surface on the earbuds. All in all I would look elsewhere if you're willing to spend a bit more.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, JamesZ.

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the fit of your WF-C710N earbuds and that you feel the sound quality is only average. We understand how frustrating it is when earbuds don't stay securely in place during use, and we want to help you get the comfortable fit and sound quality you expect.

For the fit issue, we recommend trying the different sizes of ear tips included in the box. Experimenting with a slightly larger or smaller size than you currently use can often make a big difference in security and, crucially, in sound quality. A proper, secure seal is essential for maximizing bass response and overall audio performance.

If you continue to have trouble with the fit or sound, please feel free to reach out to our support team. We can offer specific tips and techniques to help you secure the earbuds better.
