So when the going gets tough, they won't let you down. To maximize the effectiveness of Noise Canceling and to achieve optimal Sound Quality (particularly bass frequencies) it is important to minimize any gap that exists between your ears and the earbuds. Please choose the size of earbuds and arc supporters that results in the tightest seal. (Try the earbud sizes in order from larger to smaller.) A tighter seal may also be achieved by lightly pulling up on the top of the ear and twisting the headset as you place it in your ear. To achieve maximum stability select the size of arc supporter that fits comfortably and snugly inside your ear grooves. ~Earl

Solid Entry in the Wireless Earbud World
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Context: I am not an audiophile and use my headphones in 2 settings- at work (now home) to block out the cube farm (now family) noises and when running or working out by myself for an hour or more. I also just happen to have several pairs of Bluetooth headsets right now (yes, I may have a problem). Sound: these sound very good! The bass is solid, the music and voice calls are crisp & clear at all times! Comfort: Despite their slightly larger “in-ear” profile relative to some other earbuds, they’re very light and comfortable and optional ear hooks really provide an extra sense of security- a key factor when purchasing $200 headphones! Even without the active noise-cancellation, the tight, secure fit does a great job of blocking outside noises. I honestly had a hard time finding noises that were loud enough to make the noise-cancellation feature worthwhile- guess I’m just in pretty quiet places nowadays! Ease of Use: I did have to charge them before their first use- no deal-breaker, but an added bonus that seems to be more standard with electronics nowadays. Pairing them was very simple & the directions were clear. Once paired, I was switching back & forth between a couple different sets of headphones for comparison purposes and the Sony’s were great about turning off & re-pairing again when I wanted them. App: the accompanying app functions as an equalizer and allows one to customize various functions and options for the earphones- e.g. which earbud controls what functions, etc. There was an option to use a “360” sound service that sounded intriguing, but was only functional with certain providers, so don’t be sold on that function until you look into the required services and decide whether an eligible subscription would be worthwhile for you. Uses: For use at work (or home during the current WFH environment) the Sony’s were great- they block out almost everything (much to the chagrin of co-workers/family members). I also made a few co-workers endure some testing of different headsets over conference calls- the Sony’s were reported to have the best microphone of any pair I’ve got. While I can’t go to the gym, I did find them to be adequate for walking around town and doing light calisthenics- e.g. push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, etc.. Again, the added stability of the ear hooks (in-ear not over-the-ear) really gave these an edge for moderate activities over some other earbuds. They did not work AT ALL for running- I tried a couple different size ear pieces & configurations and they would not stay in. If that’s what you’re looking for, I still haven’t found a pair without an over-the-ear hook that I’d trust while running. I’m also NOT a believer in trying to cancel out all noises while running, so I’m not sure that some of the things that make the Sony’s really great-sounding headphones are what I want when out running. Case: While not something I care about at all, the storage/charging case for the Sony’s is significantly larger than some other popular brands’ cases- just bear that in mind depending on your intended use- you're not necessarily going to want to toss these in your jeans pocket until you need them! Summary: Solid sound, super easy to use, not for running, but OK for moderate activity.

The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was when you run or cycle and there is heavy wind, the wind noise can be quite intrusive to what you’re listening to. I imagine this is due to the protruding profile.

BAD connection, not good ear seal fit for me

I weightlift 5 times a week and these set will not get seal into the ear cannal for a deep bass sound. My old jaybird vista will never come out of the ear even when running.... and on top of that, every 2 min one of the buds looses it connection (paired with a Note 20 Ultta 5G) being SO anoying..... I Will never recomend this product for serious sport fellows...

To obtain the best fit and prevent the headsets from falling out, select the earbuds that fit your ears the best, and wear the headset correctly. You can also change the arc supporters to another size to comfortably and snugly fit your left and right ears.
To ensure you get the best Bluetooth connection and to prevent the headphones from losing connection, please set the headphones Bluetooth Connection Mode to “Priority on stable connection” using the Sony Headphones Connect App.
