Hi Lawdawg1, we're glad you like the sound quality of our product. We're sorry to hear that you had returned your SONY unit. To maximize the effectiveness of Noise Canceling and to achieve optimal Sound Quality (particularly bass frequencies) it is important to minimize any gap that exists between your ears and the earbuds. You could have chosen the size of earbuds and arc supporters that results in the tightest seal. (Try the earbud sizes in order from larger to smaller.) A tighter seal may also be achieved by lightly pulling up on the top of the ear and twisting the headset as you place it in your ear. To achieve maximum stability select the size of arc supporter that fits comfortably and snugly inside your ear grooves. We hope you consider SONY again. ~Earl Sony_US

Hi kc89, we're sorry to hear that you had returned your SONY unit. When the volume adjustment function is assigned to the touch sensor with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can adjust the volume on the headset during music playback. Even when the volume adjustment function has been assigned to the touch sensor with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you cannot adjust the volume on the headset during a call. Adjust the volume on the connected device. I did a lot of research and reviews on earbuds before buying these. And These were always near the top. They feel like a quality design and the case does to. I just was not overly impressed with the sound quality. But that my just be me. I normally use over the ear headphones so maybe these are very good earbuds. But it earbuds are supposed to be close to over the ear now a days then they are not very good.

I purchased these as a backup while my daily pair of WF1000MXB went off for repair. Unlike the WF1000MXB these stay on my ears throughout my workout. The are easy to pair and use with multiple devices. The only issue that I have found is with the frequency of updates.

      Hi Nice,
Perfect! We're happy to hear that the headphones suits your needs and expectations. The WF-SP800N headphones feature Adaptive Sound Control which is a smart function that automatically detects what you're up to—for example, running, walking, waiting or traveling—then adjusts ambient sound settings to suit your environment. You can also customize the settings to your preferences using the Sony | Headphones Connect app—it can even learn favorite locations, such as the gym or park. With an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance, they can be washed, making them perfect for active lifestyles and outdoor use. They also offer up to 18 hours of battery life, stable 5.0 Bluetooth connectivity and EXTRA BASS for a deep, punchy sound. Thanks for choosing Sony! - Kris Sony_US

Excellent Noise Cancellation and Audio Performance

Bottom Line: The WF-SP800N performs as well or even exceeds noise cancellation and audio performance of more expensive headphones. Pros: secure fit; water resistance; excellent noise cancellation; great audio performance Cons: touch sensor not ideally placed; case design could use tweaking; in-ear seal can be uncomfortable for some Review: At first glance, the design of the headphones look like the old Bluetooth headsets of yesteryear (they’re bigger than some other buds on the market), but performance and price makes up for it. First, the arc is attached to the ear tip and goes in your ear rather than around it. This provides a surprising- and perhaps the tightest and most secure- fit I’ve experienced on in-ear headphones. I’m confident that these headphones will stay put even under the most active workouts. I’m also excited about the water resistance rating, since I’m always weary about wearing headphones in the rain, by the pool, or on the beach. The tight fit of the tip/arc also provides a pretty good acoustic seal right out of the box (the app allows you to take pictures of your ear to help you improve fit), and this delivers excellent passive noise cancellation that exceeds some of the (more expensive) over-ear headphones I’ve owned. The active noise cancellation also performs very well, although there is a slight but noticeable hiss when working against the constant sound of my large air purifier. This, of course, is inaudible when listening to music. The Sense software is also useful, as it allows ambient noise to enter if you’re out walking around automatically. Like other Sony headphones I’ve used, the WF-SP800N delivers an impressive soundstage that creates an immersive listening experience, and they are compatible with Sony’s 360 Reality Audio although you’ll need to subscribe to one of the services that supports the technology to use it. Bass performance is also one of the flagship features of the headphones, and they deliver on that promise. You can also tune your audio experience using the equalizer in the app. I only have two minor issues with the design. The touch sensors on each bud work well, but they’re located at the top of the each bud when inserted. My natural instinct is to try and tap on the bottom of the headphones rather than the top. This may, of course, be a function of my arm/fingertip length when I bend to my elbow to tap. Second, I really want to be able to stand the charging case up when I set it on my desk. However, the bottom is rounded so it has to lay flat. This is, of course, not a huge issue, but something I think about when using them.

Hi hector, We appreciate your feedback. When you feel the noise canceling function and low-frequency sound are insufficient, change the earbuds to ones that feel more sealed. When changing the earbuds, try the earbud sizes in order from the larger sizes to the smaller sizes. The size of the left and right earbuds may be different and make sure to wear them correctly. The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Configuration of the Sony WF-SP800N earphones was relatively straight forward using the included phone app. The total setup time was approximately 10 minutes. For improvement, I’d suggest Sony include a simple setup card in the box. My primary use case for these earphones is for telephone calls, using my iPhone. Once I completed initial Bluetooth setup, subsequent phone connections are instantaneous and seamless… I take the earphones out of their charging case, put them in my ears, and I’m connected to the iPhone. I haven’t experienced any situations where I’ve had to manually connect. Sound quality is outstanding, as good or better than any other earphones I’ve used. The noise cancelation is great too; I can’t tell a significant difference from my over the ear Bose noise cancelation headset. When I’m on phone calls I hear others well, and they say my voice is loud and clear. The earphones are comfortable to wear and stay put in my ears. The charge case is a little large, but functional in terms of battery life. Though I haven’t used the earphones for more than 4 hours at once, I haven’t experienced them requiring a recharge (though I do put them back in the charge case after usage). Sony claims the case provides 3 earphone charges before the case requires recharging. Again, I haven’t hit this limit because I keep the case plugged in most of the time. The point is that for my usage battery life is not an issue either for the earphones or the charge case. The only notable shortcoming is that I accidentally tap and end phone calls. The earphone tapping function takes a while to get used to.

Hi macgigi, we're glad you like the sound quality of our product. We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with your SONY unit. To maximize the effectiveness of Noise Canceling and to achieve optimal Sound Quality (particularly bass frequencies) it is important to minimize any gap that exists between your ears and the earbuds. Please choose the size of earbuds and arc supporters that results in the tightest seal.
