Fantastic pair of buds!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here's my thoughts after a month of heavy use (5-10 hours a day during workdays) Sound- Awesome after a little tweaking with the EQ and switching to HD audio (LDAC Bluetooth codac). Good in all frequency ranges. Especially like how the bass is strong but not overpowering. ANC- It is actually industry leading unlike other buds I have tried. Hearthrough is also very good.. A++ Battery- I use these switching between ANC and hear-through for about 5 hour periods daily. Batteries still have 40% left when I put them back in the case! Call Quality- So for excellent. Haven't had anything complaints. Controls- Touch controls work very well. There is some customization but I do wish they would allow you to mix playback and ANC controls on the same bud. Fit- These things are definitely on the bigger side. I switched out the included memory foam tips for some silicone ones and that helped. They definitely don't "dissappear" like my galaxy buds do but it's worth it for the sound and ANC upgrade. App/connectivity- Set up was a breeze and I haven't had any dropouts. They app has a lot going on. I've really really only messed with the controls and sound settings. Was easy enough. All in all these bud's are quiet fantastic. I often marvel at the ANC and sound quality coming from such a small package. I wish they were a little more comfortable and they are quite pricey but the trade off is worth it.

Great ANC and sound quality, awkward fit
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reviews for flagship Sony earbuds are usually overwhelmingly positive. They're praised for their sound quality, build quality, and ANC. I've just never been a major fan of them whether it was due to wonky performance, their fit, or both. I tried the previous generation XM3 earbuds, and they never stayed in my ears even with third party foam tips. They also had connectivity issues with my phone at the time (an iPhone 11 Pro Max) and call quality was abysmal. Their ANC and sound quality were great but that was about it. Enter the XM4. I was excited for these as the earbuds are smaller, the charging case isn't laughably large, and Sony improved the fit. I set the earbuds up and experienced some Bluetooth skipping but it stopped. I used them while mowing the lawn and their ANC blocked out most of the mower. I could hear my music without having to turn the volume up to 75%. I tuned their sound quality and really enjoyed it. Sony's companion app is detailed and gives you access to all the settings you will ever need. The charging case is small and supports Qi charging. I could fit in my pocket without issues and the earbuds are held in with strong magnets, I don't think they're going to spill out if you drop the case. My issues started when my ears would hurt after 20-30 minutes of wearing these. I could deal with some pain if it eventually went away (like my ears would do when I had my Galaxy Buds+). It never stopped though. Additionally, the earbuds would slowly fall out over time. I would have to constantly twist them back in place. It was bad enough that one fell out of my ear while mowing the lawn. This problem could be fixed if Sony offered wing/fin tips, but they've reserved those for their extra bass earbuds. I also wasn't a fan of the new foam tips; these are hit or miss with most online reviews. People either love the new foam tips or they hate them, I fell into the latter group. They do make a better seal in your ear canal, but you can't just pop the earbuds in like you could before. You have to pinch the ear tips, put the earbuds in, and hold them in-place for a good 30-40 seconds as the foam expands and the earbuds find their seating. I'm not a fan of this process and, to me, the foam earbuds aren't as comfortable as soft rubber/silicon ones are. Lastly, if you use the built-in Google Assistant, you can speak commands into the right earbud only. You can still use them independently, but the right earbud is the only one that will take Google Assistant commands. You can setup the tap controls, which are still wonky, to trigger your phone's built-in assistant and that can work with either earbud. All-in-all, Sony nailed a lot of things with these earbuds, but they still have connectivity issues (is it too much to ask for a Class 1 Bluetooth receiver in a $280 pair of earbuds?), their microphones for calls are easily outperformed by $100 wireless earbuds (my Echo Buds 2 have better microphones), and they didn't fit my ears with me experiencing pain and the earbuds would eventually fall out. Maybe Sony will have a better design with the XM5 in 2-3 years. I really wanted to likes these but could not justify keeping them with their negatives, not for $280.

Posted .Hi Pablo, thank you for your detailed review. While we are glad that you like most of the features, we regret that you're having connectivity issues and the headphones fall out. The WF1000XM4 comes in various sizes of earbud tips. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the earbuds that best fit and wear them correctly for a comfortable listening experience. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue.

Great, feature rich, clean design
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound, with numerous options to enhance further Comfortable to wear (though getting some spinfit tips makes them more comfortable) Pretty solid battery life for most use cases Cool design with quality materials Instant connection as soon as they were powered on Software seems a bit over-involved at first, but it's worth exploring to get the most out of them. Sound cancelling is highly effective and it even has the reverse with its Ambient Sound mode that acts as an enhanced pass-through The only real problems I have with them are; 1) The audio queus from the device itself aren't tied to the connected device and are on the quiet side 2) The touch sensors aren't user friendly with long/uncooperative hair

||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay first off the customization in the EQ is way better then what the AirPods Pro offer. I’m constantly able to tweak it to my liking and not to mention the bass that these have. The bass isn’t overly saturated but I think it’s balanced just right with the low’s, mid’s, and high’s. Battery lasts me for 8 hours or more! I the comfort on these feel the same as the AirPods Pro’s. The people saying that it’s uncomfortable don’t know that there’s a certain way to put them on for long lasting comfort… you just basically squeeze the foam tips and gently place them in your ears. Over all I think these have a better look, sound, and feel of what’s to be true wireless earbuds with an amazing sound performance.

Amazing audio performance, but several bugs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WF-1000Xm4s are a wonderful pair of earbuds. The sound quality is top notch for earbuds, with the bass response being both articulate and rich. The mids and highs are well balanced, with the highs not being too harsh. I would say that the mids do get a little lost at times when listening to music, but this is a minor complaint. As for comfort and fit, it really depends on your ear size. For some people, earbuds fallout no matter which brand they buy from, while others can find a secure fit for a variety of earbuds. The Xm4s have new foam eartips instead of traditional silicone ones, which helps for noise isolation, but not for comfort. For me, I found that the earbuds were secured in my ear canal fairly well, although I have to adjust them every so often to get a better fit. If you are solely going for comfort and fit, I would recommend the Bose quiet comfort earbuds, as they have a hook that fits the inside of your ear for increased security. These earbuds were fairly easy to set up, and the app does a good job of allowing me to customize my listening experience. However, there are some things that I would like to cover. First, there are still several buds that have occurred since my first listen with these earbuds. Every time I close out of an app or shut off my phone (I have an iPhone 12), the noise cancellation will shut off momentarily, then resume as normal (as a side note, I would rate Sony’s noise cancellation as effective). This can get quite annoying with time. There has also been minor audio bugs, such as the audio input tending to favor the right channel ever so slightly, so that the audio is not centered. However, this is fixed by putting the earbuds in the case and powering them back on. I also have occasions where my phone will randomly connect to the earbuds while they are still in the case. Hopefully, Sony addresses these issues in the future. Nevertheless, I feel that these earbuds were worth the money. The sound great, have great battery life (8-12 hours per charge), and have effective noise cancellation. I would recommend this to anyone looking to spend a decent amount of money on earbuds.

Not good for active use but great sound
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is great! Not as good as my old bose soundsports in terms of fit and usability. Touch controls are not useful for me I prefer buttons. Touch inputs are hit and miss I rarely get it on the first try. These fall out of my ears when I work moving around where my old bose set would stay in all day. Left earbud times out and turns off after like 10-15 minutes which is very inconvenient. Luckily I typically only use the right side. If you want these for use while sitting still they're great. If you'll be working, using gloves, etc, look elsewhere.

Great sound
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these ear buds. The sound quality is amazing, and they are easy to setup. The ambient sound mode works great, and I can hear literally everything around me. I purchased these to use for work during phone calls. Sadly, they do not noise cancel the greatest for the person on the other side of the phone, and they can hear pretty much everything. They are not unusable by any means though. I use these every day. The battery life is great, and when you turn on noise cancelling, it really does work. I use these on my lawn mower as well, and they work good. The connection while my phone is in my pocket can be shotty, but I have no had wireless earbuds that wasnt an issue in that scenario. The other thing I wish was if it came with rubber for the ears as well. The memory foam works, but it gets REAL DIRTY real quick, so keep that in mind. Overall, I love these, and use them every day. Just a few tiny things I would prefer to be different.

Impressive Buds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Impressed with these buds. I migrated from a pair of Galaxy Buds to the WF-1000MX4 recently and the upgrade in sound quality and features has been great. These will never match the sound quality of a pair of wired hifi headphones to be certain, but they pack a big soundstage and impressive fidelity for a pair of wireless in-the-ear buds. The amount of fine detail and breadth of stage make for some very compelling listening. I found that they lacked detail in the highs, but a few minutes of tinkering in the in-app equalizer took care of most of what I found lacking. The ANC is very impressive, noise from outside world disappears and melts away into whatever you are listening to. Features in the app are very useful, as a whole the Sony headphone app is excellent for that matter. Fit is perhaps going to be the only concern, these will not feel like a majority of buds on the market due to their use of a hybrid foam tip. After a day or two of getting used to, I've found them to be entirely adequate and likely critical to the ANC and even the audio dynamics of this set. The medium set of tips work best for me and the app lets you confirm that you have a good seal. Battery life has been great so far. ANC on, LDAC codec, volume in the upper 80%...I've found a reliable 6 to 7 hours of playtime per full charge. The case is decent, wireless charging and magnetic bud retention are nice features. If desperate to get right back to your tunes, these things charge very fast compared to my old Galaxy Buds. $280 is a hard pill to swallow for buds, but I've found them entirely worthwhile so far. Whether traveling, walking the dog or just relaxing in bed...I anticipate getting a lot of mileage out of them. Firm recommendation if you're in the market for better than average buds.

Amazing earbuds for sound quality and battery life
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing earbuds! Really good sound quality for earbuds, but memory foam ear tips wear off fairly fast and can cause ear discomfort because of it. Battery life is great as well, still lasts me 6-8hrs after having them for almost a year. Changed eartips after a while, but still use them very often even having the airpod 2 pros and galaxy buds pro 2. Cons... slightly big and may not fit everyones ear type.

A Sound Investment
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Sound Investment The Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds have truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I put them in, I was blown away by the exceptional sound quality. The bass is deep and punchy, while the highs are crisp and clear. Every instrument and vocal is beautifully balanced, creating a truly immersive listening experience. One of the standout features of these earbuds is their impressive battery life. I can easily get through a full day of listening without needing to recharge. Even with heavy use, I've found that the battery consistently lasts well into the evening. This is a huge plus for anyone who's always on the go. If you're looking for a pair of wireless earbuds that offer top-notch sound quality and long-lasting battery life, I highly recommend the Sony WF-1000XM4. They're a fantastic investment for anyone who appreciates great audio.

An improvement or 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An improvement over the 3rd generation. Holds in ear better and the sound is a bit higher in clarity. The ear buds are a foam instead of silicon, which forms to the ear canal better and doesn't seem to sacrifice sound, mostly bass, as the older foam tips. Battery life seems to last the full 8 hours. Haven't had them in that long, but did set them down for a while without charging and it was more than 8 hours total. 4 hours of use, set them down for 2 hours and then 2 more hours of use. Still can't talk on PC or play a game that has the ability without having to disable the headset side of the headphones. This makes it sound like a phone even hearing the audio from anything that doesn't involve communication. Not a big deal, sure it will be mitigated in the future.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the earbuds for about 2 years and I can say that the earbud are great although for the price it's not entirely worth it, unless they are on sale. The noise cancelation works fine but the earbuds tend to feel a little bulky and cheap. They are quite durable, I'd say since I've had them fall on hard concrete a handfully of time. When I use them to work/workout no noticeable changes or side effects. Another problem is its Bluetooth connectivity it tends to be a little annoying at time and may not work at time, that being my biggest complaint. Overall they are great but I'd wait till they are on sale as 250 is a bit much.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony makes great products, These earbuds are amazing when it cones to features and customizations, you are able to easily adjust the bass, mids, and highs in the app that sony has you to install, however, I have noticed the sony app can be pretty buggy with IOS devices, an update can easily fix these issues. The sound quality on these are pretty good, there are other options in this price range that sound much better and more fuller, when it comes to the the noise cancellation on these, it is top tier no complaints, its hard to hear around you. The ambient noise/regular mode isnt that great. Also I dont like the fit of these, the ear tips are made from of memory foam instead of the rubber which is more common. Everytime I wore these I’ve had to constantly find myself re-adjusting these to fit comfortably in my ears. They are also very tiring to wear after a while and cause ear fatigue due to how heavy and big these are. These aren’t comfortable at all after an hour of using. These earbuds are desingned only for a select few people, I do wish the bass was more heavy and fuller like the (beats fit pro). The Call quality also takes a huge hit, these only have 4 microphones 2 in each ear bud which picks up more background noise than your voice, (there is no way to fix this issue), calling in quiet environments will work best for these earbuds, but noisy environments, outdoors, car rides, are not good at all. Overall these earbuds are priced too high for what they offer, the customizable options are great for these, but the bass isnt as good as competitors, and the sony app is very buggy and works part of the time, the battery is decent, the fit is horrible, the ear tips are foam which makes it harder to place in your ears and I’ve seen how over time the foam tips would tear and they are pretty expensive to replace. I wouldn’t recommend these. Only for the customizations and look

Great earbuds but should be better for the price.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's good: Super high sound clarity and definition. The app has some nice options. They fit super securely in the ear. The form factor is the best I've used yet. Good battery life. These buds are great well rounded buds but don't do anything extremely well. What should be better: I don't like how Sony bulletpoints mega bass because it's never true; these buds have standard bass that all other brands have. The app has some uses but doesn't have the ones you actually want and need; i wish i could turn off display notifications because they are always getting in the way. The app is extremely bloated with junk that they make you sit through. The touch controls don't have good customization options.

Clarity, Quality, ANC! better than airpods :)
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony - WF-1000xm4 earbuds are amongst the best earbuds I have ever used. First a little background; I have tried at least 3 sets of earbuds before these. One of those was a very nice pair of IEMS which compared to these are more clear but that's where the xm4's come in. The clarity is incredible with a well-balanced but v-shaped sound signature. There is lots of base here but the vocals punch right through and the amount of depth is surprising for such small earbuds. The sound quality of these is incredible but where I had trouble was with the fitment of these in my ear. I tried all of the 3 included ear tips and could not get a good fit. They felt heavy and hang out of my ear too far. They constantly get looser when I am talking or eating, they start to fall out. For this reason, I had to return the pair because I simply could not enjoy them. The ANC and pass-through sound were incredible on the XM4 earbuds. With these in and with ANC on, I could barely hear the music I had playing on my monitors 12 inches away. With a passthrough sound, everyone's voice was clear and the music had returned. I had no problem going to a grocery store and having normal interactions with people with these in. Albeit the music had to be paused but they didn't hinder my ability to speak to someone while I was checking out. The controls are decent and if you're like me and have used Samsung buds before them, you will be accustomed to these by proxy. Its the same easy but not so consistent touch control. I would have enjoyed a button here instead as the swipe and touch control is not as responsive as would be preferred. Often times I wouldn't skip a track even when tapping twice so It is more of an inability to sense touch consistently. Besides these downsides, they are mostly things you can adapt to with time and that's mostly due to the difference in the way these are controlled, it's just something to get used to. The sound is definitely surprising for their size and that is the true highlight of these buds. The ANC is also incredible and maybe even class-leading. Did I also mention that these look incredible? With all of these points in mind, the price is the last thing to discuss: at $248 on sale, these are pricey but I would agree that if they fit well, these would easily be my #1 choice and I promise you these are nearly the best earbuds you can buy and definitely better than those airpods. Maybe go check out those XM4 headphones? they blow the airpod max out of the water...

Top class ANC is amazing in such a small package. No background buzz and sound tone is not muffled and very vibrant. Touch Sensitivity: 10/10 The touch feature of theses are really accurate and sensitive. I used Apples, Samsung, Jaybirds, JBL, and etc, and all them have failed to occasionally register the first tap, forcing me to tap 2-3 times to pause. These register taps very well. Build Quality: 9/10 The material is very nice and matte, but the case lid has a very very light wiggle. (Apple still has everyone beat on quality presentation.) Memory-foam ear tips are amazing. Features: 10/10 It allows you to adjust the sound to your liking. It also has a plethora of choice that allows you to control touch sensor functions. Granted, there are certain codecs that is not supported, but for the common folks who want good quality but are not audiophiles, you are not missing anything. Battery Life: 10/10 8 hours with ANC on and 12 without? That's pretty absurd. (In a good way.) - That's without the charging case..... (In comparison, Apple Pro - 4.5 with ANC and 5 without. If you're looking for a high class true wireless earbuds, go for it if you got the money. I have tried over 25+ true wireless earbuds and these are without a doubt my favorite (I understand that that does not make me a reliable source of review). These earbuds are pricey, but the "PRO" features they provide is justified and delivery of how you interact with the product is just mind-blowingly amazing. Also, these are IPX4, which is sweat resistance, so they're great workout piece that will not fall out of your ear..... if you properly fit the right ear tips to your ears. Granted, there are millions and millions of different ears. TL;DR, just buy it. You deserve it.

They last long & snug nicely in the ear. It does come with different sizes (S,M,L) ear buds to fit your ear canal.

Great compact noise canceling for plane rides
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.• Great noise-canceling. My go to for plane rides. • Comfort is ok. We both replaced the foam ear tips as they felt ‘itchy’. Doing this was a big improvement; albeit like 1-2 decibels less effective noise canceling. Worth it. • Sound quality is very good. • Ambient Sound / Passthrough mode is between ok and good. • Control/Interface on the device is alright but I find myself retouching very often to obtain the desired effect. Accidental touches happen if your hand is near them fixing hair, glasses, hat, or taking off a shirt. • App is good, it is easy to use. Wish it had a gps log for when they were last disconnected; Incase you need to retrace your steps. • Overall I got them for noise cancellation on planes and for ear buds they are amazing. Over-ear can beat them but these are very compact. Wonderful movie and musical acoustics while peacefully flying. Would get them again for this reason alone. —- 2 years, the left one has been randomly dropping connection. Put it in case and take it out and it works again. Going to reach out to support with my Best Buy total tech plan; glad I have that.
