I couldn’t even get these massive earbuds in my ears. After a bit I got them in enough to get a seal but they stuck out like crazy and didn’t tuck into the ear like I’ve seen in reviews. I get it, all ears are shaped differently but I don’t feel this was a one size fits most design. I will say though on a positive note - if you can get these to fit, they sound great and the ANC is incredible. Even with them not fitting at all they outperformed the AirPods Pro I had just returned.

Absolutely not for voice calls!

The microphones are incredibly poor. Sony's answer: these were designed more for audio listening, not phone calls! This is not how they advertise them. Sony replaced the first pair under warranty after I had them for 3 days. By the time they did that I was just outside the return window. So, I'm stuck with headphones that have great audio quality but cannot be used for phone calls.

Does not have volume controls or repeat/go back/ go forward features which my Bose had as well.

You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while helps fix this issue.

The WF1000XM4 don’t have a default volume controller. You need to download the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app on your smartphone to assign Volume adjustment function to the touch sensor.

If there is any noise in my background people complain. These are way too expensive for terrible call quality.

If the earbuds are not worn properly, do not fit your ears, or the air-tightness is insufficient, the phone call quality may decrease. To maintain the quality, consider these factors:
• Make sure that headphones are worn properly.
• Select the earbuds that best fit with your ears. Measure the air-tightness of the earbud tips and find the optimal size of earbud tips using the Sony | Headphones Connect app.

Not the Best if You're Active or Meetings/Calls

It also isn't in the best for biking as I've had the sound of wind completely overpower any music I'm playing. Additionally, as it's currently cold outside, I need to ride my bike with gloves on, which the earbuds are not responsive to. I really wish the touch response was a button instead. It also does not make sense to me that you have to choose between controlling the volume using your earbuds versus other valuable operations. These earbuds have some great sound but need significant improvement in other areas. I'm really thinking of returning them.

Decent sound, terrible fit.

When I could get a good seal it would only last a few seconds before they became loose. The ear pieces are slippery foam instead of grippy rubber. If you can get a good seal the sound is good and the noise canceling works pretty well. That's a big if because they become loose so easily. I was on the rowing machine and one of the buds became loose enough that it paused the music because it thought it wasn't in my ear anymore. I'm returning this.

If you haven't yet, gently pull the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear when you wear them and adjust the positioning of the headset unit until it fits comfortably. Noise canceling is great and being able to have full control on the earbuds like adjusting the EQ settings or having ambient or noise canceling is phenomenal! Well worth the price! PS: I switched from air pods and the beats to these earbuds, I do not regret it one bit! Only issue I have is if does not warn me when it’s at 10% health like the air pods did but overall worth it!

Bad user interface and doesn’t fit my ears.

But the experience using the product was far from positive. Pretty much on all wireless earbuds the medium size tips fit my ears well. On this even the smallest tips wouldn’t sit well in my ears. Even when I squeeze it in I felt it would fall down any minute. But these are issues with my ears. The biggest problem is the Sony iOS app and the constant notification I hear when some kind of mode changes. I would hear a long every few minute and it would cut into the music and podcasts I was listening to. The app is badly designed and I couldn’t figure out how to disable the constant audible notification. Overall I’m disappointed and ended up returning the product.

Use the connect app to determine tip size and fit and how to insert earbuds I didn’t for the first couple times using the earbuds but after watching a tutorial and reading the instructions (there’s also instructions in the connect app) it makes a big difference in the noise canceling and bass response. These earbuds stay put I run between 3-5 miles daily and and haven’t had to readjust once and have never fallen out great earbuds

Definitely 2nd best on my list, and the bass is pretty good. However I would absolutely recommend the Soundcore Liberty Air Pro 3. If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not properly worn on your ears, you may not obtain proper sound qualities, noise canceling effects, or call performances. If you feel earbud tips are difficult to put into your ears, change the size of earbud tips or squeeze earbud tips lightly before wearing the headset.
To get the sound that you prefer, please try the different sound modes found in the Sony Headphones Connect app. The WF-1000XM4 also have the ability to adjust the equalizer in the App to preset settings or save your own custom equalizer settings.
