    Sony has done it. Outstanding!!!

The new sony wf 1000xm4 are great in all key areas. Sound Quality- Off the charts they have nailed it. Using the ldac on android is amazing. The equalizer has become 200 percent more effective and is essential to unlock this incredible sound. The Mids lows and highs have clear separation and the bass is clear and pronounced. The sound quality reminds me of the sennheiser tws 1, but better, after using the eq. The sound quality is outstanding. Noise cancelling- These are up therr with bose qc without a doubt. Could be the form factor with the improved eartips. Idk but they are neck and neck with the Bose qc. I prefer these more because of the fit and the new technology installed thats geared towards the noise cancelling.. Not to mention the passive noise cancelling is incredible as well which can help save on battery usage. The fit is excellent this time around and these will barely move in your ears. Some have said it hurts after a while of having the buds in the ears. The fit actually could barely get any better for me though and it RARELY moves in place. The buds last longer 8hrs anc 12 anc off. The talk through features such as speak to talk are incredible and come in handy. Turn voice assistant off and you can use both buds independently to wear. Awesome just what we needed. The call quality is one of the biggest improvements. The calls are clear and you can conduct the conversation without hearing those dreadful words. "Can you speak up?" "I cant hear you." Overall Sony right now has the overall package and best tws earbuds right now in my opinion. Sound quality is better than sennheiser 2 tws, noise cancelling at the number 1 spot with bose. The noise cancelling shuts out all outside frequencies with malice. Again call quality is on point, you can talk on these for sure. Im getting another pair by the way. Don't let these get away if you have the means to get it. The sound on these kick a.. The LDAC function once changing bluetooth priority to sound in the sony app, activates. This is the best codec out as of now and makes the audio quality much better. Hard to beat these folks.......... Peace and love.

Truly the best earbuds I have ever owned. My friend in Thailand bullied me into buying them and I have no regrets. 3 years of heavy, daily, use and only now experiencing technical issues with them. Working on getting that resolved now. My only complaint is that they are not comfortable to fall asleep in like my previous earbuds. Long term wear tends to be a bit on the painful side.

I bought these just over a year ago and have had a full year to figure out their ups and downs. First off, I gotta say that they are amazing. Sound quality is superb. Comfort is great. Active noise means I can enjoy airplane rides and mow my lawn while listening to music without destroying my hearing. However, I can also use them while running or riding my bicycle and stay aware of my surroundings due to the ambient sound noise. It has been a blissful experience and worth every penny. The app interface is interesting and it took a little time to get them dialed in, but once I had it set up right, I never had to mess with it again. I looked forward to years of use. Until yesterday. When out of the blue, the buds and charging case are drained of battery and will not charge. There was plenty of battery left 2 days ago and I hadn't had a chance to use them, so I know they didn't just lose charge due to parasitic drain. I've tried multiple charging cables that work on other equipment as well as the wireless charger which was my normal method of charging and is still able to charge my phone. They are D-E-A-D dead. So now, after barely a year, I have to replace them. They were not abused. They were not used in extreme environments. They weren't exposed to moisture beyond my sweat while working out. They were not charged too much or allowed to completely die causing battery memory. This was a large investment for me and I treated them as such. For the record, this is a review of the item, not the warranty. Even if they had failed 17 days ago within the warranty period, they would still get a 3 star rating because the item lasted barely more than a year. Very few reviews are for this length of ownership, so I don't know if my experience is the outlier, or if everyone is wowed by them, writes a review, and then has the same failure in the same time frame. So, 5 stars for performance, 1 star for durability.

Subpar Compared to AirPods Pros and Beats Fit Pro

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

By no means is the Sony WF-1000XM4 a bad headphone, however it did not live up to expectations whatsoever. All of my research led to this Sony model since many accomplished tech critics ranked them as the best in the market. So, I decided to test the top three wireless noise cancelling in-ear headphones: AirPods Pros, Beats Fit Pros, and the Sony WF-1000XM4. Below I have listed my opinions on each model in comparison to each other. Note: I am 19 years old and mostly listen to Rap/Hip Hop. Artists such as Drake, Travis Scott, the Weeknd, etc. Airpods Pro - Great noise cancelling feature (8/10). Impressive vocals (9/10). Above average bass (7/10). Beats Fit Pro - Decent noise cancelling feature (7/10). Above average vocals (7/10). Impressive bass (9/10). Sony WF-1000XM4 - Great noise cancelling feature (8/10). Decent vocals (6/10). Decent bass (6/10). Another feature that I took note of was the ability of people around me to hear the music coming from the headphones. The Sony model was significantly louder to the person next to me, while the Beats Fit and Airpods were similar and more discrete. By no means am I a tech expert or music analyst, but I was able to analyze the aspects most important to me which is volume (I do usually listen to all my headphones at max volume), bass (the focal point of most music I listen to is the bass/808s), and vocals (basically can I hear the lyrics clearly with the bass). In conclusion, there is no reason to own more than one of these three models. Also, I am aware that the Sony WF-1000XM4 has an app with many customizations and I experimented with all of the settings mainly using "bass boosted" and "excited" since they appealed to my favorite genres of music. I'm sure there are plenty of adults that would receive more benefit from Sony's wide range of customizations as they listen to Country, Jazz, Classic Rock, or whatever they listen to, but for those who are in my age range and enjoy Rap and really want to bump some Playboi Carti, Future, Travis Scott, etc. the Sony WF-1000XM4 are not for you! I would like to mention that I normally do not write reviews, but felt the need to on this topic as music is very dear to me. In my opinion, if you currently have Airpod Pros and they're fully functioning then keep them (the alternative is not much of an upgrade). But, if you're in the market for new ones, consider the cheaper, Beats Fit Pro and experience better bass with a slight compromise of vocals.

      Hello Adrian,

Thank you so much for your detailed review.

While we are pleased you are satisfied with the outstanding noise canceling function of our WF-1000XM4, we are really sorry if its overall sound quality did not live up to your expectations.

As an owner of the previous generation wf1000xm3 I was excited to purchase this upgrade. Features I love: 1. The design fits more snug in my ear. 2. The touch controls taking up the full side make it easier to access and the sound feedback makes you able to recognize how many times you have pressed. A+ 3. Better noise cancelation. 4. Better sound quality. 5. Better charge and information on how much is left. Things I don't like: 1. Bluetooth connection issues. The reach isn't as far as the 1000xm3s and the noise cancelation pulses in and out occasionally. It also pulses everytime you begin to play music witch kind of takes away the feeling of a seamless transition. Please fix this Sony!

2 Years and 5+ Months Later...

I bought this product on summer of 2021. Here is my overall experience. What I like is the noise cancelling; it works pretty well when commuting in the subway, like in NY. Another thing is the sound, it does well in my opinion, specially in electronic music, and indie pop/rock. It has interesting features like activating ambient sound when on a walk outside (that's shown in the app), and no buttons. What I don't like is the battery life. At first it was doing pretty well in the first year and 6 months. However, the battery started to drain in one earbud faster than the other, which led to my dissatisfaction about its battery life. In addition, when charging, it starts to overheat and I have to take the earbuds off from their charging state, fearing that they'd be damaged. Consequently, negatively diminishing my experience with these earbuds. It gets worse when you're using them when commuting for more than 1hr and 30 min. They will run out of battery after that time. I asked for a replacement, and received it. Then the replacement started to have the same issues after a year and a half o using it. In conclusion, they were about to be a pretty good pair of earbuds, but their battery life was what prevented me from thinking very favorably of this product.

Great sound with some deal-breaking bugs

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

To start this off, the buds sound fantastic. Especially with the LDAC codec enabled. However, I have a few gripes: My biggest complaint is that while you are using your phone with no audio playing there is a "whoosh" sound that happens in both ear buds while you have either ANC or noise pass-through on with either LDAC or DSEE extreme turned on. It sounds as though you are sticking your head underwater and bringing it back up and is incredibly distracting when you are trying to read an article. There are several complaints about this floating around on Reddit and other similar forums but no real response from Sony that I am aware of. This doesn't seem to be hardware related due to the number of people having this problem but the most recent firmware update did not introduce a fix. The only thing I've been able to to do fix this is turn off both DSEE extreme and LDAC. This is an annoying, completely unnecessary step and is frankly an unacceptable oversight for a pair of buds that cost as much as these do. LDAC support is the entire reason I purchased these and having to toggle it when I want to or don't want to listen to music just to have functioning ANC is a deal breaker for me. If this isn't corrected by the time the return period ends I plan to return them and go back to my Galaxy buds pro that handle this perfectly fine. The second issue I have with them is that the ear tips are quite uncomfortable. The pressure they put on your ear canals becomes painful after less than an hour of listening. I've tried each tip size and haven't found a good balance between any of them. The smalls do not seal in my ear. The mediums do, but are painful due to the pressure created. I've actually removed the tips and am listening to them with Galaxy buds + tips for now. Those are soft silicon and are actually quite comfortable with these buds. It reduces the potency of the ANC somewhat but it is still better than the Galaxy buds Pro. There are a number of good things about these buds though. For starters, they sound great! They are probably the best sounding ear buds I've ever owned and I like them just as much as my Over-ear XM4s I bought at the beginning of the year. They also stay in my ears incredibly well. The large circular part of the bud fits perfectly in the groove of my ear and I believe this helps them become very secure once in, even with silicon tips. They look nice. These are probably some of the nicer looking buds you can get. I want people to see me wear them. I'm hoping that SONY is able to fix the ANC/pass-through issue before the end of my return period. I really don't want to send these back, but this is a huge deal-breaker for me. If this is fixed I'll also likely change my rating to a five-star, as the comfort and fit issue is going to vary from person-to person and overall these are a stellar set of buds.

If somebody could reach out to me and assist me? Otherwise I wasnt a fan of these earbuds. First time I put them on the fit wasnt great. I was cautious they would fall out of my ear. It wasnt a snug fit like I like or that im used to. I tried all the earbud tips and the smallest ones still didnt give me that snug fit. First time I tried them they sounded spectacular. I was looking for earbuds that were not an apple product. My wife has airpods pro and I was envious at the sound and noise cancelation. After using the sony ear buds for walking and working out they would beep and make these noises on their own. Switch between modes and noise cancelling and it was irritating me. I reset the buds and changed settings and had the same instances again. It bugged me. The sound of the buds didnt seem as good as when I first tried them on. I have a spare pair of amazon echo buds 1st gen and those sound and still sound superior to these sony buds. They fit better to my ear as well and Im glad these echo buds have the interchangeable wing tips for a secure fit. If im doing something wrong with these sony buds Id like assistance. Other wise I give these 3 stars and intend on returning them

My first ear buds, so bear with me. Bought based off reviews and quality. They did work great for needing o study for focus in noise-canceling mode and wonderful sound. Unfortunately they would go in and when using music or during calls and at times when wearing them, they would intermittently report battery % or turn off/on (without touching them.

Cons: The foam tip wears out very quickly, starts ripping and breaking apart, it starts to die quickly now and it doesn't give you a warning it basically just dies on you, took a while to get it to suction on the ear, Pros: I like Bass music and it has a setting that allows you to increase the base, music sounds good on this, But I don't think it's worth $300

Hi RoseS, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your WF1000XM4. While we're glad you like the bass quality, bass audio adjustment using the equalizer, and overall sound quality of these earbuds, we regret to hear that the foam tips are quickly falling or ripping apart. This is definitely not the news that we would like to hear.

They are truly amazing with their noise cancelling and ambient sound. I also love the music can stop when I speak. I'm only having a little issue of disconnection with Spotify occasionally. Sound is enormous and these are the first to fit my ears.

I have been using the airpods pro for six months and to be honest i liked them no complain. but after i got this sony wf-1000xm4 i loved them more than my airpods pro especially the fact it can stay more than 10 hours with out noise cancellation still with the noice cancellations you can get 8 hours which’s like double of what you get from airpods pro. Also i liked the look on my ears these are the real pro looking with nice materials i loved a lot. The only problem i have is connecting with two devices. I hope sony will give us good update!

These ear plugs are solid on ANC. The best I have experienced so far. The music quality is on par with Samsung Plus in my opinion. Although the battery life is superior.
