Nice Features, Mushy sound

Every time I purchase a new pair, I'll try a product from another manufacturer. This time I tried the Sony WF-1000XM4. I loved the setup, fit and features. However, I felt that the sound quality is a little mushy at best. The noise canceling is marginal at best. After trying them several times and making adjustments, I'll be purchasing another set of Bose Quiet Comfort buds strickly for fthe puchy base and the clear mids and crisp highs. The Bose noise canceling feature is also on another level.

The sound quality on these earbuds is great but where Sony seems to fail is at making such a big earbuds that won’t fit and when they do they give ear fatigue after 30 minutes using them . Imagine you have someone twisting your ear while you workout , well that is the feeling you get after wearing these earbuds for more than 20 minutes. The sound signature and the bass is great on these earbuds but because of the horrible fit , I ended up going back to my Jabra elite 75t which has a way better fit than these. Another choice to consider would be the pixel buds which I have easily used for more than 2hrs and I honestly forget I’m even wearing them cause they are so comfortable. If these earbuds fit your ears and you don’t get ear fatigue , then yes, you should give them a try but if you start feeling pain after wearing these for 20+ minutes, then look for something else. By the way , I have used every ear tip that came with the earbuds and followed every step on how to wear them and still , the pain is there.

Something is better than nothing

For the price I paid, I don't believe it is up to par. They don't do well drowning out voices, and you can only expect the sound cancellation feature to drown out noises from further away. Battery doesn't last long enough for a night's sleep when using this feature as well. Fall out easily despite the cushion adjustments.

For the noise canceling function to be effective, we recommend following the steps and guidelines below:
-Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears.
-The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips are most suitable for you to achieve the optimal noise cancellation effect.
-Check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.
-The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.

Not great noise cancelling

I tried all 3 sizes of foam tips, but could not "cancel" ambient noises. I do not use these for music, so cannot speak to those qualities. Found the devices a little hard to remove from magnetized case as they are smooth and round and the magnets are strong. In the end, I went with Boze Quiet Comfort, again for the noise cancelling benefit.

Good sound quality but poor comfort

The entire headphones were supported only by the foam so the headphones had to be pushed inside the ear making it uncomfortable and result in damaging the foam. Additionally, the foam would become dirty and sometimes, parts of the broken foam would be inside my ear when I take my headphones out. Ended up purchasing Bose Quiet comfort 2 resulting in waste of money.

Best sounding earbuds if you have an Android phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you use Android phones you will love the sound due to LDAC and of course you need a HI-DEF music app. I'm sorry IPhone users you won't get the same sound because you'll be using AAC codec. The detail you will hear in the sound is amazing, the guitar, the bass, highs and mids are so clear plus the separation is amazing. They sound like over the ear headphones which is incredible how Sony was able to do it in earbuds. If you're an Android user make sure you turn LDAC on or you won't be getting the full rich and detail sound this earbuds can produce. As you can tell the sound is what I'm impressed with this earbuds because everything else i got from my Galaxy Bubs Pro. Hopefully in an update Sony can let the buds read your texts in full just like the Galaxy Buds Pro. This is such an amazing feature so if you're driving you don't need to reach for your phone, just listen to the text in your buds. Great job Sony but can you guys make XL ear tips because one of my ear needs it, right now i had to put the XM3's silicon tip to get a better seal on that ear.

Ran through the washing machine and came out fine!

The sound quality and features of these headphones are amazing. What really brought me here today is the fact that my wife forgot to check my pockets before doing laundry and ran the case and headphones through a full wash cycle. Once she discovered they went through the wash she took them out and submerged them in a cup of rice for maybe 5 hours. When she broke the news to me I was devasted and pretty much assumed they were dead. Regardless, I would have gone right back out and bought another pair because that's how much I love these things. To my surprise when I took them out of the case they powered right up as if nothing happened at all. Bottom line is that it is a great product given the fact I don't expect most electronic devices to survive a wash cycle.

I’ve heard a few people try to say that the xm3 is still better due to price bias. They can’t really afford the xm4’s, that why that comment is made. Sound quality of the xm4 literally drops turds on the xm3 tho and many other earbuds in the same price range. My only gripe is: NO multipoint connection for buds at this price is plain ridiculous.

Just Average Ear Buds

Ive used many others that are far more comfortable, similar sound quality, and for half the cost. I do enjoy how much you can change the sound of your earbuds in the app (more bass, more vocal, etc.) On the ear buds I have one side set up so I can change music but you basically need to choose whether you want to have the ability to switch between noise cancelling/ambient sound or if you want the ability to have volume control on the other ear bud. I have autism and was really hoping the noise cancelling function would be at a higher quality than what it is. The ear bud tips arent comfortable at all. The tips are made of foam thats meant to form to your ear and then go back to its original shape once you're done using them. Ive tried switching between the different sizes, placing the war bud in my ear at different angles and nothing helps. I cant wear these for more than 20 minutes before my ears are throbbing in pain. All in all yes they are good earbuds, the sound quality is really nice, but there are many other options out there that are more comfortable and cheaper.

Touch controls stop working at random and will switch to transparency mode for no reason, which can only be reversed by restarting the buds. -The battery life is NOT 8 hours with ANC. I get a little over 6, a 25% reduction. -The plastic attracts earwax like I've never seen, same for the foam eartips and the fine mesh that protects the inside of the headphones. Difficult to clean. All in all, I find myself frustrated. I just wanted a pair of noise cancelling earbuds to last me through the day but these buds have shocking non-functionality after several months of release. I'm going to try a replacement to see if that fixes battery and firmware, but if that is just how they are, they fall far short of their promises. Seriously, I bought them exclusively for the battery life and they didn't even manage that.

I shouldnt have to pull my phone out to pause, skip, or resume music. If they could improve the sensors for these buds then they would be 5 stars. Poor fitment due to design with a cheap case.

First impression was the case felt like cheap plastic, the flip top feels like it will fail fast. You have to claw at the buds to get them out, and I do not have huge bear hands. So not a good start. I was worried about the size of the buds and I was right to be. They are huge, and due to the design, they don’t stay in well at all. The small tips were too small and the medium too large. The weight is at the top and insert at the bottom. They want to pull away from your ear. I had to constantly shove them back in. They sound great and the noise cancelling works well, just a poor design and cheap case. I returned them sadly, and purchased a replacement pair of AirPods. This all started when I washed my air pods on accident.

Our WF100XM4 are supplied with different sizes of earbud tips so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. In designing these headphones, we also consider the ear canals sizes as it varies from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. To keep the headphones from falling out and for comfortable listening experience, we recommend selecting the right size earbud tips and wearing the earbuds properly.
Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Good when they work, but too many connectivity iss
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I cannot in good faith recommend these earbuds to anyone because of how frequently connectivity drops occur. When they work, they're amazing. Bass is great, deep and heavy, perfect for hip hop/electronic songs. However, you will notice that one of the earbuds will frequently disconnect while the other continues playing music. I would usually have to fix this by taking out the disconnected earbud and putting it back in, which would work maybe 50% of the time. This problem occurs multiple times throughout the day. In addition, the corresponding app is terrible. Sometimes, it will force updates on you that result in failures. During the update process, the noise cancellation/adaptive sound features are unusable. TLDR: When it works, it's amazing. However, there are too many connectivity drops. I'm making this review after waiting some time from purchasing upon release, so the new updates have not fixed the connectivity issues.

You can switch the settings and check the Priority on stable connection mode with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app to prioritizes the stable connection, if it is set to sound quality mode.
