About similar to AirPods Pro. AirPods Pro wins hands down in comfort as the Sony’s get a bit taxing after a couple hours of use. Maybe just my experience but I’ve read other reviews that said the same. On a positive note, these are much better looking (form factor) than both Sony and Bose so if that matters to you then you’ll be pleased. All in all, mediocre noise cancellation but great sound. Wish they were a bit more comfortable and blocked out more ambient noise. A bit on the expensive side for a product that doesn’t knock it out of the park in all categories.

The WF-1000XM4's new design features a shape that matches the ear cavity with a new ergonomic surface design for a more stable and comfortable fit for all-day listening. Also, If the size of the earbuds does not match the size of the ear holes, or the earbuds are not properly worn, the noise canceling function and sound quality may be significantly affected.
Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The size of the left and right earbud tips may be different.
The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips are most suitable for you to achieve the optimal noise cancellation effect.
Check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.

Excellent Headphones When Fit Properly

If I had reviewed these Sony WF-1000XM4 headphones over a month ago, they would be at most a 4-star set of buds. However, I learned in the past month that I need to push just a little bit further to get them to the point in my ear canal where magic happens. First, the noise cancellation goes from good to great really quickly. I have used other earbuds with noise cancellation and started to believe the Sony's were overhyped. I changed my mind immediately upon finding that proper fit takes these to another level. Second, the music and sound quality is really amazing. While the bass isn't as high as I found on other earbuds, the overall quality really surpasses other headphones/earbuds on the market. This was the case even before I was able to get that perfect fit, but has been escalated even further since that point. I would definitely recommend these as long as you're going to try the different ear gels and work with the app to get that correct fit. Don't push these so far into your ears that you cause damage, but definitely give it an extra press and I am confident you might just agree with me that these deserve the high praise that they get.

Great headphones with Major Battery Issue

The sound quality is excellent as well as the actove noises cancel. I've had these for less than a year and the main issue with these headphones is that the right battery tends to drain really quickly after updating the software. My right earbud lasts less than hour if im lucky, even after being fully charged. Going to contact sony for a potential replacement. I recommend not getting these unless Sony fixes the issue.

While we're glad you like the excellent sound quality and noise cancellation, we regret to hear about the battery issue you're having. While it is normal for the battery consumption rate to vary somewhat between the left and right earbuds due to function settings and conditions of use, a significant difference between the earbuds, when regularly used together, should not occur.
