Foam material either too harsh or not well made. Ear feels itchy/uncomfortable after 15 minutes of use and have to take them off and reinsert them to continue using them.

Please change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The size of the left and right earbud tips may be different. Please check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible. Please follow this link for more details:

But the noise cancellation is not as good as Bose. Playing pool I noticed when I switch back and forth that you can still hear if u don’t literally push the ear buds in and let it kinda stay there before you have a better noise cancellation.

Please take not that the noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. They are AMAZING !! So much better than the XM3, much smaller, case is really half size and the sound is BEST I have ever heard and I have Bose, Beats and senheiser . These are So cumfy, the noise cancelling works amazing, cut my lawn with them on and heard nothing but the great sound that comes out of them. The app is great and easy to use , you can do your own EQ, really nice !! The Reviews were spot on and these ARE THE Best earpods on market , get a pair ASAP !!

The things they do right are great: solid fit and design, good sound quality, semi-flat frequency response, good EQ presets and really effective ANC (when it works correctly). There are some major issues when it comes to how buggy the ANC is and how often I had issues with it. On 2 separate pairs of these headphones I got a constant dull high pitched feedback in the left ear bud whenever ANC was on. According to forum posts, this is a pretty common issue. I'm awestruck that Sony expects ~$250 for these when the main draw of them is broken.

While we are pleased you are satisfied with the exceptional sound quality, industry-leading noise canceling function, frequency response, equalizer settings, and comfortable fit & stylish design of our WF-1000XM4, we are so sorry you are encountering noise issues with the left earbud.
To eliminate the high pitch sound, you should:
1. Turn off Adaptive Sound Control, or 2. Turn off “Notification Tone When Switching”
When the Adaptive Sound Control function is turned on, the headset detects the wearer's actions and adjusts the noise canceling function automatically. When this setting is changed, music may pause momentarily and an alert sound may be heard. This sound notifies you that the setting has been changed. If you want to deactivate this notification sound, use the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app to turn the setting off.

Beware of Firmware updates

A recent update cooked my battery and they stopped holding a charge. Sony is sending me refund so thats good but kind of sucks because no buds for the next 4-6 weeks.

However, every once in a while it may have connectivity issues which is something that I hope gets fixed with a future update. Additionally, it took a little while to get used to them comfort wise. All in all the huge positive change for me has been the excellent sound and the great ANC.

I have the WH1000XM3 which are the over the ear headphones. been using it for 3 yrs now. but since riding a motorcycle to class I found these buds to take up less space and its easier to pull them out and use when walking around or when I am in a lecture hall. for a student who is on the go alot I highly recommend them. For someone who is working/studying from home I still think the over ear headphones are far more comfortable.

Awesome headphones but some noise with NC or ambie

I did notice quite a bit of popping noise every second or two when i have the ambient sound or noise cancelling on and the music is quiet. I did some research on this and it is apparently normal. I do not have this issue with the over ear xm3/xm4 sony headphones though.

I really wanted to like these earphones and tried everything before I returned them. The killing fault was the fit. They actually hurt my ear canal. I couldn’t keep them They sound good but the over ear model sounds even better and are much more comfortable. For my needs, I’ll keep the Jabra’s for exercise. For easy listening and tv the Sony over ear and the Bose for travel. As far as sound quality I would rate the over ear Sony and the Bose Quietcomforts better. If you can get them to fit and they don’t bother you then I would recommend them but I’d also recommend you listen to the Bose.

This may be resolved by using the right size according to the size of your ears and when wearing them, gently pull the top of your ear as you twist the earbud into your ear and adjust the positioning of the headset unit until it fits comfortably. They’re more of a stone greyish color. When I did exchange them for the black ones the sound was amzing but they only lasted a month as they randomly died.
