Started out good, but…

The sound quality is excellent, but a few months down the road and the foam ear pads are wearing out and the buds are now constantly falling out of my ears. In addition, my phone is trying to use them even when they are in the case.

We are also sorry if your earbuds don't seem to turn off completely after placing on the charging case. This is usually not the case, and definitely not the experience we wanted you to have on our premium headphones.
For the earbud tips, these are consumables. If the earbud tips are damaged and need replacing, please contact your nearest Sony dealer or purchase the following:

Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. The WF1000XM4 comes with different sizes of earbud tips so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the right size earbud tips. We also recommend wearing the earbuds properly.
Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Our WF100XM4 are supplied with different sizes of earbud tips so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. In designing these headphones, we also consider the ear canals sizes as it varies from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. To keep the headphones from falling out and for comfortable listening experience, we recommend selecting the right size earbud tips and wearing the earbuds properly.
You may also be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while helps fix this issue.

They just wouldn't fit my ears

I own the Sony WH-1000XM4's so naturally these caught my attention. I was lucky enough to be able to grab a pair in a few days rushed home unboxed them put them in my ears. I followed all of the instructions and they didn't fit. I have super small ears and I just felt like they were going to fall out of my ears. I twisted, I turned and I performed pretty much every other action I could to get these wireless earbuds to fit perfectly in my ears and I could not do it. The sound is unmatched, the noise canceling feature awesome, transparency mode top notch. But I had to return them because of the fit. I am bummed out.

For it's price, great audio but sony has always failed on calls since I got these to talk while driving. Equipment owned: - Sennheisier IE80s - $200 - Sennheiser HD660s - $450 Players: - Fiio BTR5 - $110 - Fiio M15 - $1200 - Samsung S20 plus - Bluetooth Audio Quality - Make sure to buy comply foam for the best audio. Will increase isolation, bass, and stereo separation is more obvious with them. Competes with my Fiio btr5 + sennheiser ie80 combo for bass and stereo separation which is amazing. However, there seems to be reverb in the drivers and notes hang out longer than they should. I cannot force LDAC codec on my samsung so Sony needs to fix this on their app. Noise cancelling - Not on the level of Bose and their QC35. They've always been behind as I own the Sony WH-1000XM4 and tried the WF-1000XM3's as well. This is just simply a smaller form factor than the XM3's and until I can get LDAC to work, they sound the same as XM3's.

If the size of the earbud tips does not match the size of your ear canals or the headset is not properly worn on your ears, you may not obtain proper sound qualities or call performances with the unit.
If any of this is the case, try the following.
Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The size of the left and right earbud tips may be different.
The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips are most suitable for you to achieve the optimal noise cancellation effect.
Check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.

Decent sound, not great ANC.

These.... not so much. I was giving my wife the Galaxy Buds Pro 2's I had which were great and going to these is a noticeable downgrade in noise cancelling quality. The sound is pretty similar and great (which is why it gets 3 stars), but the claim to fame is supposedly the ANC. Swapping between these and the GBP2 and the Buds are just better, and more comfortable. To be fair, I had 2 pairs of these. The first didn't have working ANC out of the box. LIterally no difference between off and on in the app. So I returned that pair for a new pair and, while the new pair does something, it's barely better than off. Long story short - they either have a faulty firmware out now, quality control issues, or the GBP2 are just better. I'm going with the latter and returning them. The GBP2 are usually cheaper, anyway.

Good battery life, wireless charging case and it pairs with PC, Mac, iOS, Android, etc. I like the foam tips it comes with as it helps them stay in your ears better. These are easy to use and the app you load on your phone makes it even easier. You can adjust the EQ to your liking, noise cancellation, hear-through, etc. Great buds. The ONLY thing I wish they did better was switch/hand-off between devices automatically.

I am a drummer, so I regularly put these in my ears when practicing. If I leave the cancellation on I can barely hear the acoustic drum set as I’m playing it. I actually turn that feature off while practicing, and the seal of the ear buds into my ear canal is good enough that I do not have to turn them up. This allows me to practice with very little negative impact on my hearing at all. The battery lasts a very long time.

Very nice earbuds

This is probably a problem with most earbuds. I can still hear some noise when I use these, but generally not a lot. This may also be a problem with earbuds in general. I have nothing to compare them with at the moment. I have not tested them on an airplane. I do not find them particularly comfortable, but again, this might be a general earbud problem, since they stick inside your ears. They do stay in place inside my ear when I’m walking around. The synching works great. The functionality appears to be very good and the tapping to change functions works very well. Certainly, they’re easier to carry around than over-the-ear headphones, and sometimes you might want to hear other noises around you, which is a plus to earbuds.
