I have small ears, and these are unbearably painful within 10 minutes of use. Because I haven’t been able to tolerate the fit, I can’t give a really accurate assessment of sound. From what I could tolerate, they were decent. Lackluster bass but pretty clear mid-highs. I absolutely despise their “Adaptive” feature. When it was on, it would switch between ANC and transparency every 20 seconds while perusing the isles of the grocery store. So annoying. Save $80. Better buds available fo $200 and under.

Fit is great and they are comfortable all day. Really do miss the dual bluetooth connectivity of over the ear model. But they do not replace the audio quality which is primarily why I use headphones. Noise cancellation is not important, unless traveling on an airlines, but it does work well. For Better audio quality from earbuds, the M&D MW08's.

I've owned the Apple Airpods Pro, Bose QuietComfort Earbuds and Sony WF-1000XM4. The number one thing that sets the Sony earbuds apart from the others is the sound quality. Sony gives you more control over the sound settings than the other two and they provide better low, mid and high sound quality. The Sony headphones app is better than Bose and Apple. The noise cancelling level with the Sony earbuds are better than Apple but the Bose earbuds did have the best noise cancelling. Apple had the most comfortable ear fit but they would fall out quite easily. Bose earbuds were uncomfortable in the ear but would stay in no matter what you are doing. Hope this helps you decide! It took me a long time to find the right earbuds.

Back to the Airpod Pros '21: another honest review

Sony WF-1000xm4 was listed as the best of the best, so I traded up. I regretted the trade from the first use. These do not have better sound and have only slightly better noise canceling. They are very uncomfortable and I have larger ears than some. The functions require software and a lot of fiddling. I'm in engineering so I don't mind fiddling, but these are not worth it. Between the software tools and the lack of comfort, I'd say they are in the $80 category. The sound is better than some, but not worth the price and certainly not better than the very comfy Airpod Pros. I went back and bought the Airpod Pros again and am very grateful that I did. I'm still scratching my head as to why these Sony's are rated so highly with the magazines???

The main downside is that the bt antenna seems to be a bit lacking; it often shuts off or stops playing media out of nowhere on its own. Mildly annoying but disappointing considering I have some $50 beater earbuds that don't have this issue.

The earbuds decided once the warranty was over that the lithium battery inside would expand. This caused the headphones to seperate. One thing though is when they worked the sound was great. Im just not a fan of them breaking.

They sound great but just know that the interface for the devices isn't as simple as letting your mobile device hook to them - its a program that has to be installed to get most out of these. BIGGEST COMPLAINT - they are not supported by older ipod touches (version 6 is oldest they'll work with)

The software is what lets these guys down - connections that reset constantly and sometimes you will find the right ear generating a non-stop sound such that you have to remove it and place it back in the case in the hope that it resets itself which is does about a minute later....from a "it just works as it should" it fails miserably. It tries to do too much such as all the GPS capability of remember locations and sound settings so that it can automatically set itself to ambient sound or noise cancelling - its overkill of a feature that was never really a good idea to begin with - who cares about that - either you set it on noise cancelling or you don't....the minimal value is not worth the programming effort (its a Jurassic park feature - they spent so much time wondering if they could - they didnt stop to think if they should and by the time they got it go it was full of bugs....) Do I like them ? Yes. Are they a pain in butt yes ? Are they worth it ? Probably by the next generation - XM5 ? Maybe.

I set the EQ to give it more high end and they sound fantastic with the silicone tips I ordered on Amazon. Giving it four stars due to the horrible ear tips.

Sony in ear WF1000XM3

Its my go to over my Apple Airpods Pro in ear when I listen to music. The mic on them is OK. Its much better than the older XM3's. My only gripe is that it is hard to handle because of my fat fingers. Its a little slippery. It can be a little challenging to get it to switch for one device to another.
