Then I saw the XM4 earbuds and was trying to justify buying those when I had the other XM4s and the Soundcore ones... then a buddy at work lost his Liberty Pro 2s and I sold him mine and immediately got these. They sound almost as good as the over the ear XM4s, the noise cancelling is just as good. They are simply amazing.

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.*Negative first - a critical piece of info if you plan on keeping these longer than a year* After over a year of use, my BIGGEST problem is that I no longer get the advertised battery life. I'll get maybe an hour and a half before my right bud dies out completely then I'm forced to wait and charge. They charge pretty quickly (0 to 90% after 30ish minutes) but the case battery is also starting to hold less charge. I'd be lucky to get maybe 7 hours of total use for the full day. And they seem to last less and less as the months go by. Of course Sony's convenient 1 year warranty does nothing to remedy the issue, and replacing the battery doesn't seem to be an option unless you REALLY know what you're doing. I loved these headphones when I first got them. Amazing noise cancellation and the ability to cancel out wind noise is really nice for outside use. Google assistant works just as well as it does on the phone. The quality of sound you get from these is crystal clear with nice bass. And with the app you can use the EQ to adjust the sound in case you want more bass, or want to lower the mids and anything else. The the first problem I had was the ear tips, being a bit uncomfortable to get use to. They also started showing signs of wear and tear within a couple of months. I would suggest buying silicon tips that are compatible if you can't adjust to the included tips. The second problem I had was the random bugs. Sometimes I would get random disconnects, with no reason as to why. Other times a bud would just shut off while the other would still be playing music. The most consistent problem is that the ambient sound feature momentarily turns off whenever there's a loud electronic beeping sound. Microwave is done heating food? Off. Crosswalk beeps to signify you can walk? Off. Large truck is backing up? Off. All times you would WANT the ambient sound to be working. Other thoughts: I do wish they had support for simultaneous bluetooth connections so I could connect both my laptop and phone at the same time. I guess that'll be a feature for the XM5s whenever they come out. Also LDAC is nice to use for higher quality sound but it comes with the price of lower battery life and a less stable bluetooth connection. Most issues I had with these earbuds I could ignore for the quality ANC and great sound. But after using these consistently for over a year, I'm considering going wired again. My headphones from college are still going strong after 20 years, and they cost less than half of what these did. Battery technology just isn't quite there to convince me to waste another $300 on disposable earbuds that will end up in a landfill after 2 years.

We're sorry to hear about the issue with the WF-1000XM4 Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones. We apologize for the inconvenience. The earbuds may not work as designed if they are not worn properly, or the size of the earbud tips doesn't match the size of your ear canals. Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal. The Noise Isolation Earbud Tips (for the WF-1000XM4 headphones) will adjust their shape to fit in your ears. Wait for about 10 seconds for the earbud tip shape to stabilize, and then check that they fit firmly in your ears and if the noise canceling effect is sufficient. If you feel the earbud tips don't fit well, or the noise canceling effect is insufficient, remove and reinsert the earbuds, making sure the earbud tips fit snug in your ears. Different sizes of earbud tips are supplied so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. Use the Determines Optimal Earbud Tips function in the Headphones Connect app to check the size of the earbud tips that best fit your ears.

Beware of Firmware updates

A recent update cooked my battery and they stopped holding a charge. Sony is sending me refund so thats good but kind of sucks because no buds for the next 4-6 weeks.

I cannot believe just how awesome SONY bluetooth noise cancelling headphones sound. I use these when I go out for long walks in the city early in the morning and after work. I can take and make calls and people on the other side do not know I am walking through loud traffic in a city environment. The sound is punchy and has enough bass. Rock, Rap, Techno, Alternative, Post-rock, Ambient, Metal music ALL sound terrific on these little buds. Battery life is long and I have never had an issue once with these things going out on me. The only downside to these buds are the foam ear pieces that SONY ship with their in-ear headphones. I use the SpinFit CP100 Plus for IEM (you can pick them up from Amazon and these upgraded medical grade silicone ear tips literally make the WF-1000XM4's perfect. These particular medical grade silicone tips DO NOT TEAR (I'm still on my first pair for over 6 months so these ear tips are for real). They make the XM4s sit in my ears more comfortably. SONYs foam tips never seemed small enough to give a perfect fir for me. Twisting the XM4's into my ears tore 2 pairs of foam tips in 3 months. The COMPLY foam tips are no better. I use the size "super small and they are just perfect! Spend the extra $$$$$ (hey look at the price of the XM4's), and make a great audio experience even BETTER! Don't worry about the audiophiles turning their noses up at these (or their big brother the SONY WH-1000XM4 over the head head phones); going wireless with awesome tone just feels terrific. The SONY headphone app makes customizing the ambient or heavy noise reduction easy for anyone. My headphones even "remember" when I am stepping onto the subway and automatically set to the heaviest noise reduction, and then ease up once I walk out of the station and onto the street. These phones are a must if you want to work out with tunes. You can even use these to get max noise reduction with NO music and go for a meditative walk. How does SONY know to allow in the sound of birds and breeze while virtually eliminating the sound of cars and construction work? Crazy but it just works. It's 2022 and these are the best bluetooth true wireless headphones you can buy. Pro tip: Get the SpinFit CP100 Plus for IEM ear tips and turn them into comfortable audio Perfection. Highly recommended.

Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears. When changing the earbud tips, try the earbud tip sizes in order from the larger ones to the smaller ones. The size of the left and right earbud tips may be different.
The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips are most suitable for you to achieve the optimal noise cancellation effect.
Referring to step 2, check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.

I wanted an upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy Pro buds which would fall out after awhile and make my ears itch from the vibration and poor fit. These fit very well, Others have said they are too big, but I disagree. The fit like they are supposed to, firm without movement. The 360 sound that is available on certain music apps (Like Amazon) is AMAZING. It's a concert in your head with melody in one ear and harmony in the other. I absolutely love them. Well worth the price (although I would have liked to pay less).

Didn't hold up as expected.

'21, and these were far and away my favorite earbuds despite some intial connectivity issues that I experienced which seem to have been fixed with software updates, however unfortunately the battery in the left earbud started draining significantly faster than the right earbud to the point where I can only get a couple hours before I have to charge them again, and of course they're a few months past the limited warranty expiring. For the price point I would've liked to get a few more years out of these at least. Disappointing as the sound quality and noise cancelling made these perfect for working while in a cube farm.

Good device but mine have problems

The right earbud doesn't last even an hour anymore. For a year the earbuds worked really well. The ANC is still good. I reached out to sony helpdesk, got my earphones reset and still the problem persists. I wonder who can repair it.

I think the airpods pro noise cancelation may be a little better. The 360 audio is incredible. Only the right earbud can be used by itself sadly. The right earbud has the track control and google assistant. The left one controls ambient and noise cancelation. It also has wireless charging.

-Change the earbud tips to ones that fit more snugly in your ears.
-The “Sony | Headphones Connect” app will help you to determine which earbud tips are most suitable for you to achieve the optimal noise cancellation effect.
-Check if the headset is properly worn on your ears. Wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.
-The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
You can remove either the left or right unit of the headset from the charging case and use the unit by itself. Also, You can change the function assignments to the touch sensors of both the left and right units using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app.
