I end up taking them out and having to go hand-held. Big negative for a big price tag.

These are currently my favorite after more than a month of use. The sound is exceptional and the ANC quite good. The app itself is the best I've ever used. I had the same problem that many XM4 users cite regarding getting a good seal with the included eartips. I never got a good seal. That is, until I purchased the Spinfit 360 tips. What a difference. Truly, Sony ought to be embarrassed. Anyways if you're on the fence about these earbuds, for me they're great.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used a few airbuds, most recently I upgraded from the Samsung buds pro which was excellent, to the buds 2, which was very disappointing, sound quality was good but kept falling out my ears... so I decided to try these Sony airbuds, and I have to say, I was truly impressed, with how they looked I thought they would have fallen out my ear within minutes, that never happened, I use these at the gym everyday, I also run in them, the sound quality is excellent, plus multiple sound quality options... one of best decisions I ever made.

Over Ear performance, In Ear package

Problem solved. These Sony WF-1000XM4s have everything except a sexy product name. In addition to meeting my sonic needs, the buds as well as the case have proven robust by surviving a 4' drop onto a concrete parking deck. One bud even stayed in the case! The equalizer options really make a difference. I dialed back the base and the mids just a bit to get perfect sound. YMMV. A bit pricy, but you get what you pay for.

I do not recommend using the Noise Canceling function when your wife is trying to tell you how her day went unless you’ve upgraded your doghouse. I did the latter, so I’m good and I didn’t hear a word of anything from her day in the office. These are an absolute must to have for removing daily unwanted noise where you can enjoy music, podcasts while enjoying a nice cigar on the patio. Highly recommended!

Sony bluetooth

Only the highend bluetooth did i try. These Sonys are awesome. A few months in no issue. The are comfortable and the have a mic in both ears. If you slip the power in half they last all day.

The major detractor of these earbuds is that you can’t keep them in your ears. I am waiting on the receipt of comply foam ear tips to decide to return or not. Different sizes of earbud tips are supplied so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the right size earbud tips and we also recommend wearing the earbuds properly.
Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Not long lasting

Just 3 months out of the 1 year warranty my right earbud will not charge completely and dies after about 15 min of use. I have gone through all the troubleshooting and It seems I either have to send them in for repairs or just full on replace them. $300 for a little over 14 months use is not worth it not matter the quality of sound. I also was not thrilled with how inconsistent the touch controls were. These buds really have put me on the fence with Sony devices as a whole.
