PROS • Comfortable, low-profile fit • Buds don’t jut outside the ears like the XM3s did • Capacitive touch controls responsive but not over-sensitive • Mics for calling and pass-through audio are excellent • Excellent noise cancellation without a lot of "overpressure" sensation • Good enough noise isolation with silicon tips that noise cancelling functions often aren’t needed • Strong bass without being muddy, frequency adjustment via app available • Recharge quickly from case • Longer battery life than the XM3s CONS • Cannot pair more than 1 device at a time • Slow to connect to iOS • Sometimes hoodie material can activate the touch sensors unpredictably (esp when it may be raining) • Wind rejection isn’t great when using pass-through, on a phone call, or using noise cancelling • Included foam tips are not as good at noise isolation as silicon tips • Appreciate the ecologically safe cardboard packaging, but the unboxed pieces don’t easily stay together for storage (I keep packaging in case I need to return item) I really enjoyed my WF-1000XM3s (and still do) for their sound quality, but I hated the form factor. The XM4s fixed the form factor issues beautifully, and retained (or even improved) the audio quality. The bass creates presence without sounding muddy (seriously, the ambient sound in some movie scenes had me pulling out my earbuds to be sure what I heard wasn’t the real thing!). Movies sound VERY good with these buds. My main disappointment with these buds, especially after using Jabras and the Apple varieties: There is no multipair option yet. Once I substituted some silicon tips for these buds, the fit was perfect and noise isolation was idea. I have been very happy with these.

On Another level!

My biggest concern from the last model was staying in my ear during activities like exercising etc. Not anymore, these stay put, sound quality are excellent as always, ANC are even better from the M3s which I didn't think was possible. The case has drastically been miniaturized and has wireless charging on the bottom. Been using them since I got them and have been very satisfied. You get what you pay for and these are no exception. Thanks Sony.

Different sizes of earbud tips are supplied so that you can achieve the maximum effects of the earbuds. Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the right size earbud tips. We also recommend wearing the earbuds properly. Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

I tried the smallest ear tip and was still uncomfortable. The earbuds itself are just too big and will constantly cause ear fatigue. I thought it would get better overtime as my ears adjusted to it. But I was totally wrong. You’d be lucky to have these on for more than 1 hour without any ear pain or discomfort. However, it does have a very good seal and active noise cancellation. Probably the best on the market with regards to active noise cancellation.

Posted .Hi Manny, while we are glad that you the noise canceling function, we regret that the earbuds are too big and you're unable to find the best fit despite trying the smallest eartips sizes. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.
Additionally, for a comfortable listening experience we also recommend wearing them correctly and simply twist the headset unit to fit it snugly into the ear canal, and adjust the positioning of the headset unit until it fits comfortably.

For me, the equalizer (although I don't use it) doesn't do a real function as such. Noise cancellation and connectivity is also very good. Son unos audifonos con un sonido neutral, por lo tanto la música suena bien definida. Para mi, el equalizador (aunque no lo uso) no hace una verdadera función como tal. La Cancelación de ruido y la conectividad tambien es muy buena.

Not the right fit for me

I felt the case material felt very cheap and actually getting the buds out of said case was more difficult than it should have been. Outside of physically getting the headphones out of the case, I could never seem to find the “sweet spot” of positioning the headphones in my ear correctly. This would lead to a compromised seal after some use and would affect the noise cancellation and overall experience. I was very excited to try something new, and feel that these could be a great fit for others but ended up disappointed and returned them. Also, having to use an outside app for most features was frustrating.

Ear canals vary in size from person to person, and can also vary in size from the left to the right sides. To keep the headphones from falling out, please select the right size earbud tips. We also recommend to properly wear the headset so that the earbud tip is comfortably situated as deep in the ear canal as possible.
Gently pull up on the top of your ears, put the earbud tips in your ear canal, and then twist the earbuds into place. This makes sure the earbuds are firmly in the ear canal.

Great for people with bigger ears

My only issue is that the buds themselves are quite big. I didn't have issues with them falling out, but it kept feeling like they would. And sleeping with these on doesn't irritate my ear, but I notice they're there and that gets a little irritating. The bass these produce almost makes it worth it, but I might or might not end up returning them. If you have bigger ears, and some money to spend, these will not disappoint at all. Sound quality wise, in my opinion, nothing comes close.

Bose earbuds lock in these just adjust the foam tips size. They stop working with the phone call portion two months after i got them. Sound great tho.
