These are the best noise canceling headphones I have owned. I currently own several brands. Bose, Samsung, apple. there is a newer model out that is supposed to be even better. XM4

Last year a friend of mine came over with his new Sony WH-1000XM2 and immediately began to extol the virtues of the Sony over the Bose QC35. I had never heard Sony's noise cancelling headphones, but I certainly didn't expect them to be in the same ballpark as the Bose. Bose had been the undisputed noise canceling headphones for some time and I had never really given that a second thought. While I still preferred the Bose, the Sony XM2s were very good and I could see why my friend liked them so much. Here we are a year later and Sony has dropped their third generation of the WH-1000 headphones and all I can say is they nailed it. The new Sony WH-1000XM3 are an absolute 'must buy' if you are in the market for some wireless, over-the-ear, noise-cancelling headphones. They offer 30 hours of playback time on a single charge and based on what I have experienced I believe them. They are lightweight and seem very wheel built. While not as light as the Bose QC35, the difference is nearly imperceptible with long term use. They offer moderate clamping force which keeps them on your head and snug, but not to the point of causing a headache. The ear cups are cushy and soft which means long term listening shouldn't be an issue.. The Sony offer an outside audio passthrough mode as well so that you can talk to someone with the headphones still on which is always a nice to have. The sound is skewed a little hot and can get a little bass heavy, but for me that isn't a negative as so many headphones today lack 'energy'. Still a better aural balance than some of my past Beats headphones. I would argue the Bose are probably more balanced, but not nearly as fun to listen to. That being said,Sony does offer an iOS and Android app that allows you to tweak the EQ to dial them in to your preference. The app also has an Optimizer that will dial in the sound based on external noise and atmospheric pressure. That is something you can't do with the Bose. The real star of the show is the noise canceling. It is bar-none the best I haven't heard. When you put them on you are immediately transported into silence. I haven't had a chance to try them on a flight yet, but I am looking forward to it. I am not saying they are leaps and bounds beyond the Bose, but they are better. Period. The only real negative I have are the touch controls on the right outer shell. Yes they work, but are neither super intuitive or responsive. I find I have to take multiple swipes at times to get volume changes and I have an even harder time pausing content. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I am hopeful that Sony further refines this in their next generation. Overall, the Sony WH-1000XM3 are the real deal and successfully claim the noise canceling throne from Bose. If you have read this far you are just wasting time. Just buy them as you won't be disappointed.

Truly one of the best sound quality for headphones on the market. Consumer Reports had it right. It is definitely the headphone to have on an airplane and it beats the competition.

Great Noise Cancelling headphones! I was lucky enough to find them on sale. They are worth the full price tag. If they are ever on sale, jump on them!

After testing both, Sony and Bose flagship headphones, I had to pick these based on the fact that while NC was on par with both, Sony's sound quality and app flexibility made this the best choice for me :)

This is a great pair of noise cancelling headphones. Definitely better than Bose QC35ii. Quality of music playback is also very good as it supports aptx, aptx HD, aac and LDAC. And extra points for USB C charging.

purchased not sure what to expect from apple airpods. New level of experience. Very long battery. Can be frustrating because of size if you're running errands. Not really meant for that.

AWESOME. Bought these for a recent trip. The noise canceling is on point. Highly recommend if you can go for the bose.

These headphones are easy to use. They come in a nice compact case. Used them initially on a plane and the noise canceling was very good. Have not yet used them for music but I am looking forward to it.

These things are great. super noise cancelling and the ability to just touch the right ear side and it pauses so you can hear what is going on, ie the flight attendant taking your drink order. 100% recommend.

The best wireless noise canceling headphones on the market! The app you download let’s you adjust the ambient noise and sound. And I love the touch options!!! So easy to use, you can’t go wrong with these.

I got wf-1000x before because I don't want to wear big headsets like this since I wear glasses. But this one feels comfortable, can continuously wear hours and I am happy with its long battery life.

Although they cheaped out on the XM3 overall exterior parts compared to the predecessor models, I am really satisfied with my purchase. Hands down one of the best noise-canceling headphone out there.

These headphones are simply the best in the market. Superb noise canceling and the hand gesture technology (for volume up-down, next track, pause) makes then unique and sets them a part from the competition.

Great headphones. I tried the bose first and returned them for the Sony. They cut almost all the ambient sound out and have great functionality from your phone through the app

Phenomenal headset. Used in cases of gaming and listening to music while at school. Sound cancellation was top-notch. My go-to headset when traveling, too.

I love these! They sound amazing and he noise cancellation is great. My only gripe is that they get a little warm on those longer listening sessions. My previous Bose did not. But it’s worth it.

I missed out when it was on sale the first time, so as soon as I saw it again I immediately ordered it. Bet headphones I ever bought. Would have got a second pair for the wife but she likes her bose

I own these and the sony xb900n, and some old bose QC2's. the 1000's are the best in sound quality and noise cancellation, but not by much. I got the 900's for about half the price of the 1000's, and would recommend the 900's for better value by far. Unfortunately, both have touch controls on the ear cup (I'd prefer buttons).

Had nose and beats both, and these sound and feel better all the way around. Not a huge amount better but overall just better in all areas. The case is nice and light weight. I really like these headphones
