Plugged in the sound quality is clear and neutral. Nothing special. I have Focal Utopia headphones for critical listening. I didn't buy these for the sound quality I bought them for the supposed noise cancelling quality that has received many outstanding reviews. I don't find the noise cancelling any better than my old Bose Quiet comfort earbuds and only marginally better than my ancient Sony nc headphones. The comfort of the Sony xm3's is very good and I had no issue wearing them for a 4 hour flight. The touch control feature is a nice feature and simple to use. I purchased these on sale and added on a few Best Buy dollars and had them shipped to me for a total of $177. Definitely worth that.

Major Issue not being Discussed

Beautiful construction. Cool features. So what’s the major issue? They are not great for commuting to work as any bump in the road that causes you to vibrate will cause the headphones to pop and skip sound. Pothole? Popping sound. Road transitions from solid to bridge? Popping and crackling. It is supremely annoying and no befitting something that costs $350. You can Google the model number and popping sound and you’ll see forums me ruining this issue. If you live somewhere with super smooth roads or you only use them for planes then this won’t be an issue for you. If you use them for commuting on a bus or something then buy something else. Recommend? Not if your use case is commuting.

Best noise cancellation I've tried
