Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned every iteration of this headphone line, 1000X, M2, and now M3. All around they are my go-to daily headphone. Best noise cancellation of any headphone in its class. Not simply the quality of its noise cancellation abilities, but also its flexibility to be able to adapt the experience based off your environment. In terms of sound signature these definitely have Sony's signature sound; very warm, detailed, and bassy. Music sounds smooth, and detailed without ever becoming fatiguing, even after long listening sessions. This model compared to previous generations seems to have a little more bass (to my ears) without sacrificing on the other elements of the signature that people know and love about the 1000X line. One of the biggest changes between the M2 and M3 that stood out to me was the weight difference. I wouldn't have called the M2 a "heavy" headphone but in comparison to the M3, it is a welcome improvement. The weight now feels a lot closer to the QC35/II while still retaining the 30 hour battery life (I assume that's why the M2 feels heavy, due to larger batteries than competitors). The M2 had a very simple, discrete look but I did find it a little lackluster especially considering its MSRP. That being said, I think the addition of the copper accents is just the thing this line needed to give it a more premium appearance while maintaining the line's core aesthetic.

I wanted to listen separate from the volume my wife uses. I’ve done this before using RCA plugs in the back of the TV. This headset wouldn’t work even after buy another Bluetooth adapter. They seem to mention hooking them to a phone but why would I do that?

Posted .Hi Arnie, we are sorry to hear about this. The headphones can be paired to TVS that supports A2DP Bluetooth profile. Some TV models can't output sound from both the headphones and the TV speakers at the same time.
