I 100% regret this purchase. I missed the return period by 2 days and could not tell them how useless they are so I will put it in my review. Size: I do not consider my head to be small, I wear a medium helmet on my bike but these things just keep slipping off my head. I adjusted them to the smallest setting yet I still cant wear them to the gym as they slip off when I change exercise. You still need a decent tightness on them anyway or outside sound seeps through. Because of this they neither nose cancel effectively or stay on my head securely. Sound: I dont listen at high volume levels, thats why I needed noise cancelling headphones so I dont get disturbed by the outside world. Sony have decided that no matter what the volume level is you are using, it will blast through at full volume any notifications (including an annoying voice to tell you they are turned on followed by an even louder beep. I turned off notifications but some still come though at this ridiculously loud level. They arent even nice sounding beeps, it just hurts to listen to. them. Summary: I hate these headphones. If they dont stay on your head what use are they? Make sure you go to the store and try them on first, dont order online and be aware of the 15 day return period. I am selling mine on ebay at a big loss.

Hi stewart, We are sorry to hear that the WH-1000XM3 did not meet all of your expectations. You can use the sliders to adjust the headphones for a comfort fit and better noise canceling. You can also use the Sony Headphones Connect app to turn off voice guidance and adjust the noise canceling based on your preference.

The Sony WH-1000XM3 Headphones are the BOMB! These are truly amazing wireless noise canceling headphones. As soon as I put them on they blocked out almost ALL noise. I could barely hear any outside noise. That floored me. But also let me know I can't use these outside because I would need to hear the sounds of say a car honking at me! I have never heard over the ear headphones with this clarity. I simply synced to my iPhone 7 and chose a playlist. I was astounded by the depth of the sound quality. Without the outside noise I heard just the music and it was beautiful! Comfort - OMG! I wear glasses and headphones can be uncomfortable and tight...these are ergonomically slanted in a perfect way, the cups are comfortable and they are lightweight! The most comfortable headphones I have ever used. I wore them for extended periods and never had to take them off due to that common pain in my head we all know. And yes, as others have said, the cup controls take a bit to get used to... But when you do get used to them... Awesomeness! So to get back to the beginning... I opened the box and was thrilled to see the headphones in a semi-hard case. A case is so useful, but commonly not included. They were cleverly folded into a compact space that also holds the USB charger and an airplane adapter. They also came partially charged out of the box so I could start listening ASAP! These headphones aren't missing a thing - Sony was very thoughtful in designing these and I am thrilled to have them. I HIGHLY recommend these!!

My headphones won't turn on. I did a quick internet search and learned this a common problem with these headphones. Push the button to turn them on and the the power light briefly comes on then goes out. Tried all of the reset procedures to no avail. Now I get to send them back to Sony and deal with their atrocious customer service. I knew not to buy anything Sony and I did it anyway, shame on me.

Hi Abuta, we regret to hear that the noise canceling feature stopped working. Please try the following steps below if the noise canceling effect is not sufficient.

Make sure that the noise canceling function is turned on.
Adjust the earpad position to fit your ears.
The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
You can also adjust the noise canceling function from the Sony | Headphones Connect App. You may also reset the headphones by pressing the power button and the NC/AMBIENT button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.

The noise cancelling technology is absolutely wonderful. The build quality is horrific. The left hand side of the plastic band just snapped in half, and the inside where it meets the earpiece also came out. The headphones are produced very cheaply. The sound is pretty good though. I'd stay far away from these.

This product (Sony - WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling) is great for the average people at home use only.... Not for central offices use at all. I buy this for work! it couldn't keep up with constance server fans going in the background, my customer couldn't understand anything i say at all and i have to continuously repeat myself. (my voice sounds to them as being muffled) even though i can hear them very clare....

Pro -Superb sound quality and music clarity -Great battery life -Storage case -Good noise cancelling -Mobile app allows custom EQ settings -Included 3.5mm cable has deep collars to fit through phone cases -Hi-res LDAC and aptX audio Con -Included charge cable very short -Can't listen to headphones over Bluetooth while charging -3.5mm connection only good for headphones, not a full headset with mic -Noise cancelling isn't as good as first gen 1000X model -No USB audio capabilities Overall The third generation of Sony's 1000X noise cancelling headphones have a few extra features over the earlier model, but are mostly the same. That means you still get excellent audio clarity for superb music listening and fidelity, the touch controls, and active noise cancelling. But they also have the limited connectivity of the predecessors, namely no USB audio, no Bluetooth while charging, and no 4-pole support to use them as a wireless headset ( stereo audio only, no mic over 3.5mm ). The headphones do have a few small but welcome updates. The obvious is the USB connector, now using a type-C jack, for charging. Unfortunately the included charging cable ( cable only, no AC adapter ) is under 12" long, so the headphones need to be very close to the charging source. Also, while previous Sony models supported aptX for higher quality wireless audio, the 1000XM3 has LDAC support for what Sony claims can be true HiRes quality audio over Bluetooth ( few phones or devices support it at this time ). Finally, the headphones app for your mobile device supports completely customized EQ curves, not just presets, though I'm not sure if that's a new feature of the headphones, or just an update of the app itself. In just about every other way, these are practically the same as the previous 1000X. The storage case is handy for keeping everything together. Battery life is great ( easily long enough for a six-hour flight, with noise cancelling ). The noise cancelling is good, but not up to the first gen 1000X where you literally could not hear a conversation five feet away. The target consumer group for these is also the same. If you want great headphones to listen to your tunes in high fidelity and muffle the busy sidewalk around you ( but not entirely mute it ) these are toward the top of the list. If you want a headset that can pull double duty with your phone and computer or console, these won't do.

I also have a pair of the Sony MDR-XB950N1 wireless noise canceling headphones, which I like, but they don’t fit well over my ears and there were occasional clips in the audio during listening. With these headphones both of my issues have been resolved by Sony to create a more complete wireless headphone. It fits well on my head and over my ears and is light and comfortable. The headphones are large enough to go around my ears instead of over the top of them, which creates a better, more comfortable seal and listening experience. The pairing process was easy and quick. The noise cancelling aspect of the headphones work great. During the hours I listened to the headphones paired with my Samsung Galaxy S9 I noticed no clipping in the audio. The highs, mids and lows all seemed to mesh together and the audio was pleasant, not harsh. I really enjoy listening to these headphones. A nice plus is the hard case that comes with the headphones. It obviously won’t protect the headphones from a heavy object dropped on them but it does offer a decent level of protection. I’m about to take my first flight after getting these headphones and I will update my review with my experience or add a comment with those details if I can’t update the review.

    Amazing Sound Quality and Comfort

    Posted .

These headphones have the nicest sound ever! You can also change the sound settings to have bass boost, which has amazing sound, treble boost, etc. It has noise cancelling which works very well and if you just place your palm on the right headphone the noise-cancelling turns off until you release it (or you can just turn it off through the settings). If you do turn off the noise-cancelling through the settings you can make the headphones focus on voice so that way you still don’t hear too much with the noise-cancelling off but can hear someone’s voice very well. Other than the sound quality and the settings being outstanding the comfort is too. It is really soft and feels great on your head and it is really light so that way it is a rock sitting on your head. Most of the time you can’t even really fell the headphones on your head they’re so light and comfortable. So overall I give these headphones a 100/10. Definitely worth the $350. Would definitely recommend.

The noise cancelling is fantastic, music quality is good, but the call quality is abysmal. I'll be returning them and buying something else. Searching for the problem indicates it's not an isolated indecent, particularly on the Sony support forums. It doesn't matter how good the noise cancelling is if I can't use them for phone calls.
