have lots of bose, had problems with lots of bose. Reluctant to switch but did. Love these. The swiping motion on the side of the unit is awesome love the ease don't have to fumble around to find buttons. Love the quick quiet when you grab the ear piece. The sound is great better than the qc35 and also has legit bass. Great eq. and sound options. The noise cancelling is amazing.

Although I would still want improvement in the Noice Cancellation area, I definitely do not want to leave behind the fact that the touch gesture controls are an awesome upgrade from what I always had One feedback I have is to have the ability to connect to 2 bluetooth devices at once and switch between sources. This is possible over NFC already, which is not open on my apple devices

Good sound for NC headphones. Some bugs

I’ve been using these for about two weeks on my subway commute, wandering around, and at work. The sound quality is definitely a cut above the Bose, which I had until they were stolen. There are two annoyances. Phone calls are ok if you are inside, but if you are outside, they don’t handle things well with wind and other ambient noise. Also, if you are in cold temps, the touch pad starts to behave erratically. it won’t respond, or it may start registering phantom touches. I’ve heard that powercycleing the headset resolves this, but such should not be necessary.

Great sound + NC, bad feature

I'll start by saying that you're getting great noise cancel and sound but it's missing a few key things. 1. Bose has the capability to be connected to two devices, this is huge since I switch between taking calls through my computer and through my phone, such a headache. Sony did not include this. 2. The silver is not even remotely silver, it is more taupe, a goldish tan, and is exactly what you would describe as your grandmother's orthopedic shoe color. 3. The case is tight that you kind of have to push the headphone size back to normal (not great if you have a bigger head) 4. The microphone is a substantial downgrade from the Bose QC35-ii. Many times people mention they can/t hear me well, when the same scenario with Bose and there is no notice of muffling.

my niece gave me a pair of Sony 1000 xm3 as a retirement gift. my family knows how much enjoy wildlife photography and listening to music, while taking long walks among nature. I have a few pair of bluetooth headphones and the Sony 1000xm3 by far are the worst, for one critical reason the phone call quality. The Good The sound quality is excellent and they are very comfortable The Bad The call quality is totally garbage .It's horrific ,horrible ,it's really really bad. You can barely hear anyone and they can't hear you everything sounds muffled And what makes matters even worse is apparently all the ambient noise from the outside is amplified into your phone calls. They are totally useless for phone calls.I have to take off the headphones and disconnect from Bluetooth to receive a phone call its that bad. I have a few other headphones for my listen pleasure, Sennheiser Momentum ,Bose QC 35's ,Sonyxb950n1,Sony wh ch 700n, Sony 1000x, and Skull Candy Churshers . All have excellent phone call reception. Sony how can you bring such a poor quality product to market. Considering the price point ,and the other great options available like the Bose qc 35's . I defiantly cannot recommend this product to anyone until Sony rectifies this major problem. Regards Extremely Disappointed

Great sound and noise cancelling, bad call quality

These headphones sound great and have good noise cancelling. The features and touch controls work great and the ability to hear outside noise around you when putting your right hand over the ear cup is a great feature! My only problem with these are the microphones and the call quality. The person on the other end said I sound muffled and that they would hear their own voice echo whenever they spoke. I tried these headphones with different phones and the outcome was still the same. I ended up returning it. Hopefully Sony finds a fix for this because i would love to purchase them again as everything else about the item is wonderful.

I was studying in a coffee shop with the ANC on and missed a full-fledged fist fight because the ANC was so good I couldn't hear anything but my music. It wasn't until one of the baristas came up and apologized for the fight that I realized that it had occurred. 10/10 would buy again.

Just got these even though the 4's just released. For the $100 savings well worth it. Unless you can't stand only being able to connect to one device at a time no need to upgrade imo. These are pure perfection just put on some TOOL and spiral out

Bought these to upgrade from my older Bose noise canceling. The silver ones with a switch and take a AA battery. Loved them! Heard the Sony's had the flat out best NC over Bose now. I do travel quite a bit. Been using them around the house and office. Just did a trip to Florida on an airplane recently. Unfortunately these are a pain to use. Maybe I'm spoiled but the soft buttons on the side are annoying(I don't use or want them), random beeps and the NC turns off after a bit(not the power save feature that's off), Sony app is clunky and way over complicated. I just want to turn the darn thing on with NC enabled and listen to music or just use it for NC only. Would be nice to have a "dumb" mode. I am very technically inclined but don't want to putz with things every time I want to use the headphones. Bose...flip the switch, plugin and listen to music. I needs to be that simple! I too experience the "waterfall" sound very faint in the background. It's equal in both ears. I had another audiophile at work verify this with me. He was surprised too. Not sure what I am going to do with them now. Going back to my Bose. Unfortunately I did the cashback with Samsung and they already paid me out so I doubt I can return them.

I bought these headphones last week . I love the sound quality and well built. the most helpful is assistive touch, i don't have to pick up my phone to change music or receive calls.but recently i have notice the call volume is very low for the person who is other side of the call. basically i have to move my call from headset to phone . anyone noticed this ? . otherwise the headphone work just great.

I had previously owned the WH-1000m2 and when these came out I wanted to replace them. They are great, the noise cancellation feature is phenomenal. Love the App and how I can manipulate the features of the headphones. BRAVO Sony.

I already own the Sony MDR-1000X and love them. The WH-1000XM3 are more comfortable and fit better, but the ear cup touch controls for pause & Siri don't work as well (4 - 6 tries before it works). Out of the box the MDR-1000x sound much better to my ears. The WH-1000XM3 has an app with an equalizer but no setting I've tried sounds as good to me as the MDR-1000X that has no equalizer. I do not want to work that hard to make $349 headphones sound good, but if you like that sort of thing they will probably make you happy. The app has a soundstage control that just seems like a gimmick to me. I'm not fond of the surround effects either. On the positive side, the app connects well and is not flakey like the Bose Connect app. The noise canceling on the WH-1000XM3 is superior and better than the MDR-1000X. I mostly listen to classical music & find the WH-1000XM3 to be too muddy as opposed to the crisp MDR-1000X. Think I'll stick with my MDR-1000X.

Great Sound and ANC... Poor Build Quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought these 1000XM3's based on the few reviews I had seen on-line. I have had the major players in the market that have ANC and wanted to give these a try. The Noise canceling is really good and there is this hush that comes over you when you turn them on. So for the office they performed very nicely and when you have a Tidal subscription and can listen to HiFi music they really do perform very well. My issue with these headphones is to achieve Bose like lightness they are almost entirely plastic and I feel you will have to baby these headphones before they break which is what happen to me. The same issue that many people have complained about is the headband by the ear-cup joint being the weak point, and they cracked so I had to return them. I would rather have heavier headphones with solid build quality than sacrifice build quality to save some weight.
