    No Noise Cancelling

I purchased this product thinking it would get rid of noise around me. I have had previous ones where I could not hear someone sitting next to me. I received the first set and could hear someone talking 20 feet away. I spoke with Sony and they guaranteed it must have been a faulty set and to exchange them. I went and exchanged them only to find that the second set was the same way. They muffled most noise but I could still hear talking all around me. There is no way these would get rid of noise anywhere. Sony continued to stand by their product and guaranteed they worked. Best Buy was helpful in giving me my money back but Sony would not do anything. I would never buy these or recommend them to anyone if looking for true noise cancelling. They have great sound but I can get that with a lower cost headphone set.

    Reference, not punchy at all

So I bought these with great hopes on the tale end of watching a certain Sony movie that pushed their brand hard in the web of a movie. I liked them and they produced quality sound, but I want to hear that punch of the bass and that hard riff of the guitar. These do not do that. Reference type head phone.

Sony Electronics refuses to honor warranty!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased Sony WH1000XM3 headphones from an eBay storefront for a Sony Authorized Dealer on Sept 6, 2019. These headphones have a 1 year repair or replacement warranty. I'm less than 8 months into the warranty period and the power button, bluetooth, and noise canceling all stopped working. That's bad enough after moderate use, but little did I know that they won't honor their warranty for any product purchased from eBay, even if you can demonstrate it was brand new in the retail box. My situation had an additional twist since the eBay store was a storefront for a Sony authorized dealer in NJ. After being drug through knotholes to comply with their documentation requirements and obtaining an invoice from the authorized retailer, it became evident that Sony Electronics will use any excuse to shirk their responsibility to honor their product warranty as indicated by their response to my BBB complaint: "Sony dealt with the customer and explained warranty terms. Customer purchased the unit from eBay. Products that are purchased from eBay, and all other second-hand sellers/liquidators are not Sony's authorized retailers; they do not have warranty with Sony. The document he provided, that was supposed to serve as the invoice, came from the retailer of the seller from eBay, and it is not a valid receipt."

the headband broke in less than three months

these headphones sound amazing but, the build quality is not there for a $350 pair of headphones. They broke where the size adjustment is in just over three months. That's ridiculous. All the reviews of the new version said they fix this problem because it occurred in the first generation. I guess not! I don't want to go back to bose because the sound quality isn't as good but I guess I don't have a choice.

    Major disappointment

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have noisy neighbors and purchased the Sony WH-1000xm3 headphones mostly for the noise cancelling feature. Unfortunately, when I tried to use them for sleeping, the "Power Off!" announcement would be announced 5 minutes after I turned on the Power and Noise Cancelling. This happened frequently. As a consequence, I decided to return the headphones to Best Buy the next morning.

I personally found these to be overpriced for the sound it offers ... 250 maybe but anything over 250 for these is too much in my opinion

    Useless for mobile calls

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Just received my black headphone (10/4/2018). Took a couple of calls on my Google Pixel 2XL and no one could make out what I was saying. This is really disappointing for a product at this price point AND I was in a dead-quite office room. Hate to know how audio calls are handled if there is the slightest amount of background noise. Every caller I spoke with over Bluetooth on this headphone complained of hearing an echo, and not being able to make out my voice properly. There are lots of complaints on this exact issue on the Sony support forum, with no response from Sony. Some have been able to resolve the issue by returning their headphones and ordering a replacement. Seriously Sony? - It's 2018... handling Bluetooth phone calls was figured out by your competitors 10 years ago. You have been peddling junk Experia-Z mobile phones plus non-existent support in the United States, and now this? Stock price 20 years ago: $50 Stock price now: $50 20 years with ZERO shareholder value creation. No mystery why Sony can't make a dollar in the very markets it invented.

    Creaking in left ear cup

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So I got the Xm2s a week ago, saw that these were coming out so I returned them and got the xm3s. One main reason was the ear pads we're uncomfortable. But now with the Xm3s the left ear cup is creaking if I walk, chew, or move my head. Is anyone else having this issue? $350 to get this problem is a little bit ridiculous.

Sound quality is good. But it's software is horrendous. Switching devices is such a pain that I rarely use it anymore. Sony keeps its record of shipping unusable software on its great hardware.

I would not give a 1 star had there been an option for "0 stars". Not a reliable brand at all. I had a different model of Sony headphones , and it broke by the hinge. Reached out to both US and Japan headquarters about the issue. Received a reply email stating that the Sony engineers agree that there is a defect with the product, but they cannot exchange it because it was out of warranty. If a product has a defect, and company admits it, then why does not matter what the purchase date it. Anyway I highly recommend to stay away from sony headphones in general.

I decided to give these a shot. For the amount of money paid I was highly disappointed. I work and have family all over the world. Here is a con that is NOT being listed. They do NOT work with 3rd party communication apps. Such as: Whatsapp, Skype, Duo, etc. They are bulky and the "touch" buttons can be quite a pain. The sound quality is not as they portray. I returned these <24hrs after purchase. This was within the last six months.

    Loud static

This headphone have a very loud static in one ear when it's in noise cancelling mode and you've used it for a few hours. The first one I have had static in the right ear. I exchange it and the second one have static in the left ear. The static is loud enough that you can hear it through the music. Defeats the purpose of noise cancelling.

    Stopped working after first charge

They lasted about 10hr and then said “powering off”. I put it on the charger and even tried a few different USB outlets (I can’t believe 300 headphones don’t come with a charger). I spent the better part of an hour working to get them returned at a local Best Buy (they wanted to try different chargers too). Avoid these headphones as they seem to break and don’t come with the charger needed.

The power won't turn on at all. My headphones charge, but the headphones are essentially useless. Sony customer support has been miserable because the product is out of warranty and their authorized repair provider quoted $100+ to repair these. I'll never buy another sony product for as long as i live.

Really nice headset for Android but it is worthless for working with Windows 10. I got it working but each use requires a restart of Bluetooth. A recent Windows update resulted in 500ms delayed echo, not usable. I am a software developer and an EE and I have spent countless hours.
