Sony noise cancelling ear phones great for the airplane and low noise volume situations. Can't overcome snoring individuals. Price is a little high than desired.

Although its a bit pricey, these headphones are comfy. More importantly, they cancel noise really well. I can barely hear by bird shouting!

I was leery of purchasing such an expensive set of headphones, but decided to splurge a little after reading the great reviews on the Sony WH-10000XMe wireless noise-canceling cans. What a great purchase this has been. These are simply the best headphones I've ever had. The sound quality is tremendous. Noise-canceling outstanding. Ranges between high and low tones terrific. The wireless connection has been solid also. If you're in the market for a great set of headphones, save your money and invest in the Sony WH-1000XM3's!

I have several pair of consumer “pro” headphones. Bose, Beats, JBL ($250+) headphones I have used and like them however, these headphones are above all of those. Sound is full while leaving the bass tight but airy. The noise cancellation is scary good but it does leave just a touch of the in ear pressure from noise cancellation over ear headphones. The Sony headphone app is easy to figure out if you are into tech but I can see how it can become overwhelming for the average consumer. Overall these have replace my beats studio pro as my daily drivers.

Noice-cancelling headphones are often a tug of war between good noice-cancelling capabilities and good sound quality. I've tried plenty of them. If you turn off the NC function, your music sounds awful. It gets muddy and suppressed, nowhere near the way the creator intended. When you turn the NC function on, your music sounds good again. I've tried the Bose QueitComfort 20s, the QuietComfort 35s, the QuietControl 30s, the Sony MDR-1000X, the Sony M2 and finally the Sony M3s. The Sony WH-1000XM3 offers the most ideal midpoint of noise-cancellation and sound quality. While the BOSE QC 35s slightly edge out the Sony M3s on noise-cancellation, the sound quality on the M3s are superior. I'm able to vacuum my house with these headphones on while still being able to listen to my podcasts. Unlike the MDR1000X and the M2s, the M3s are also vastly more comfortable. The prior generations were basically clamps on your skull that seemingly got tighter and tighter the longer you wore them. The M3s have greatly improved on the comfort of its predecessors and I'm able to wear these for hours at a time without worrying if my head will be a different shape when I take them off. The only ding I'd give to these headphones is that the ambient-noise functions of it are fairly unpleasant. The ambient-noise is based around the use of the headphone's microphones to amplify the sound around you which often means taking in some of the most irritating white-noise that will make any listening experience uncomfortable. Sometimes you need to use it at the airport gate to hear if you're boarding or you want to have it on at work to make sure you hear any co-workers calling for you but you'd probably just be better off relying on your spatial awareness because even the companion app Sony recommends downloading for this doesn't help.

NOT a Bose QC 35 II killer... serious audio issues

Let me start by saying thatI am an audio professional and I love Sony products. I also own the previous version, the mx2 and love them. I had high hopes for the mx3s and had to return them because of the way they reproduce the low end. The low end punch is over-exaggerated, around the frequency where a kick drum is. So these cans are base-heavy like Apple's Beats. But that's not the problem. The problem is that when you are listening at around 80-90% volume, the low end starts to bottom out and it creates a blown-out sound with every hit of the kick drum. Especially in rock or metal where the kick drum is there for punch and not low subs as in Hip-Hop. Anything under 60 Hz sounds fine. This phenomenon stops when the ANS is turned off.... then the cans sound great. So it's an issue with the ANS, mics and algorithm... which is why you buy these in the first place. I was able to alleviate the issue with the Sony iPhone app by completely turning the 'clear bass' off. but then it lost too much low end. And so I would have to keep going back to the app the the song changed to keep adjusting the bass so it wouldn't crap out the low end. And it takes three steps in the app to get to the clear bass slider. Also, when ANS turned on and you're riding in a bus or airport shuttle, any little bump sets off the ANC and makes a weird (joggling) sound that drives you nuts, sound like the drivers are lose inside the cans All the above was the deal breaker for me and back to the store they went. So instead, I bought the Bose QC 35 ii and they blew the Sony mx3 out of the water. There were everything I hoped the mx3 would be. Tight, accurate low-end and great sound through-out the spectrum at every volume. Theres just a magic sound to them where as the mx3 were all over the place sonically. It was actually fatiguing to use them with music. The ANS on the Sonys is superior as far as cutting outside noise, but I would rather have better audio quality. The battery life is killer on the Sonys and I love the fast charge. However, after wearing the xm3 for an hour or so I stated to get sweaty ears and started fidgeting with them and just wanted to pull them off. Something about the sound also fatigued my ears. With the Bose QC 35 II, I forget they were even on at times. I have flown many times with the xm2s and loved the ability to cup your hand over the ear piece to mute the music and talk to the flight attendant, but eventually I just started taking one ear off instead to talk because they could see I was trying to talk, as opposed to holding my hand over my ear. The Sonys system of swiping the ear cup takes time to get used to and so I just didn't take the time I guess. the Bose has physical buttons which is a no brainer. way simpler. I admire what sony was attempting here but they have a lot of bugs to fix in their ANC and low end. SO Bose is still the indiputed king in the arena. 2 out of 5 starts because only 2 out of 5 songs sounded good on them.

This Sony - WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Over-the-Ear Headphones with Google Assistant, is one of my best gadget. I have purchased it because I was tired to use the airlines' cheap headphones quality. It's a great headphone and I utilize it for all my international flights. The sound quality is perfect and the noise cancellation feature works perfectly as well.
