For years, Sony has always made outstanding products. With their recent release of the 3rd generation WH-1000X, I believe they created a product that currently outperforms the Bose QC35II. WH-1000XM3 sound quality is both bright, bass improvements, and overall, very well-balanced. The features available in the product itself and the downloadable application creates an unforgettable experience. My personal favorite is the aesthetic of the product. Sony created a luxurious yet simple design. Finally, WH-1000XM3's noise-cancelling technology is outstanding.

I bought these to study and I wear rhem for 4 hours at a time. I like the sound and that you can use them with a cable when battery runs out.I bought my own cable with in line remote and works perfectly fine. The touch controls work great. The noise cancelling is great but I’m still debating if I shoukd keep them or change them for QC 35’s because of the comfort. My ears get warm, but kot sweaty and my esrs touch the cover of rhe speakers. Overall I like them, I want to keep them but the comfort is not all that great. If you can wait I would see if Bose comes out with the QC45.

Ordered these headphones online because the stores could not keep them in stock. First impressions: 1. They are very comfortable, though I only wore them for about 30 minutes. 2. The noise cancelling is outstanding. I will see how well they function on a flight next week. 2. The sound quality is pretty good, not awesome, but good. 3. The volume and song advancement gestures are taking a little getting used to. I seem to skip songs when trying to change the volume. 4. The app is cool so far, though I don't see myself using it very often once I get the settings dialed in to my preferences. 5. The case is nice, but I am surprised there is no Sony logo on the outside. 6. The USB-C charging cord is very short, but since my phone is also USB-C, I have longer cords available. At least these are USB-C and not the hopefully dying micro-USB. Removed one star for short charging cord and gesture usability.

These are my new "go to" headphones. They are also one of my favorite “tech things” I use in my day to day. They are that nice. Sony has really delivered here. Truly, across the board. The design is clean, sleek, and modern. A nice muted, matte black with a few color details. They just look good. It is not just looks, however, as they have a nice sturdy feel in the hand and I think they will hold up well over time. That said, they are extremely comfortable. They have a nice, light weight, the pads feel a bit like pillows for your ears, and the well-padded headband has just the right amount of tension. Not tight, yet secure. When those rare times came when I “had” to take them off, they collapsed down nicely to fit in the included compact carrying case. Sony claims a 30-hour battery life, and I have zero trouble believing this. They have seemingly been on my head nonstop and I have not once given thought to their dying…despite my “random” charging patterns. Here, I absolutely love that Sony went with USB-C charging. It is the standard going forward across the tech landscape. I hope more companies follow their lead. Not only does it bring faster charges (very fast, 5 hours of playback from 10 minutes of charge) and reversible plugs, but it means one less cable that I must carry. A big win in my book. Now, as for sound, well, they did it here as well. They sound great! I am very happy with the whole sound stage. The highs are there, the mids and vocals have life and the bass is, well, big, deep, and punchy. Some of the best sound Sony has delivered and the best in this class. Of course, sound goes hand in hand with one of the main features of these cans, noise cancelling (NC). As well as Sony nailed all the other aspects of these headphones, it is pretty much unbelievable how outstanding the NC is. Noise is just…gone. Silence. Very impressed. Sony does provide three modes of NC, as well as some customizations via an app, so you can select how much or how little NC you want, depending on your needs. I really don’t think there is a better combination of noise cancellation and sound quality out there right now. I love these headphones. They have unrivaled noise cancellation, sound fantastic, are stylish and comfortable, have tremendous battery life and embrace a modern charging standard. An outstanding product that truly delivers. If you are looking for a new pair of headphones, give these a look. Then buy them.

I upgraded to these from Sony MDR 1000X, which I enjoyed a lot. The 1000XM3 sound better and have much improved active noise cancelling over the 1000x. I use these mostly when traveling and I can barely hear any engine noise on flights. Like most noise cancelling headphones, these don't completely drown out people talking, but when listening to music at moderate volumes I don't hear anyone around me. I demoed Bose Quiet Comfort headphones as well as other brands before buying both MDR 1000X and 1000XM3 and the Sony won out both times.

The Sony XM3 headphone is very comfortable to put on!The sound is unequaled! I’ve had the Bose headphones and the Sony is a step up-nicely done!!

I am very happy with the headphones. The noise canceling works great and the sound is full and deep. Very comfortable too.
