Beware, this product headset Sony - WH-1000XM3/B Wireless Noise Canceling is of low quality, it carries problems from previous generations of SONY headphones. It was a Christmas gift so I didn't do the usual review research, SONY forums are plagued with hundreds of people complaining about problems of the headset breaking up after normal use. My personal case, these headphones Sony - WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Canceling we a replacement for a pair of BOSE, that still work, after 4 years of daily use, these SONY's are not usable after 7 months?! SONY warranty btw does not cover "physical damage". If you plan to use these headphones daily don't bother, they won't survive, seems like they are only meant to look fancy with a bunch of bells and whistles to cover for the low quality manufacturing materials of the headband for Sony - WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Canceling .

I had it for a few months before it broke. It actually still works and I’m thinking of using gorilla tape until I can get a replacement but I obviously wasn’t expecting them to fall apart. That said the sound quality is okay but you do need to fiddle with the settings to get uninterrupted noise cancelling.

I had a pair of the Bose QuietComfort and lost them so decided to get the second generation. Through my research, only a few changes were made and the Sony WH-1000XM3 were getting better reviews than the Bose, so I gave them a shot. The main reason I spend this much on headphones is sound quality and noise cancellation. The sound quality just doesn't cut it. At one point I thought that there is no way this is all the way up. I got the app, increased the equalizer, and at one point believed I had a bad speaker, but at the end they were just not better. The adaptive noise cancellation on the Sony is sweet, but the sound drags the overall headphone down and im returning them as soon as possible.

I do own the previous model of these headphones (the WH-1000MX2) and these are a slight improvement over those. The sound quality is still fantastic and even a little better than the previous model. The Smart listening SENSE ENGINE will auto detect what you are doing, say, sitting still, walking around etc and will adjust the listening and ambient sounds to meet those different environments. I did notice a slight pause in the music as it changed the mode that it was working in. A minor annoyance though. The QN1 noise-canceling processor is fantastic. I am not sure how Sony did it, but it cuts out just about any sound and leaves you only hearing the music from your headphones. I can wear these all day, they feel slightly lighter than the previous model and the ear pads are softer than before with a larger hole that encompasses your ears. The quick attention mode is a great feature as well. You simply have to cup your hand over the right headphone and it will mute the volume and activate ambient sound so you can have a quick conversation. Very handy feature so you don’t have to fumble for your device that is playing the music or pause anything. Sony includes a very nice carrying case that is soft on the inside and has a semi hard shell to protect your headphones. Also included is an airplane 3.5mm dual jack to a single 3.5mm headphone jack, along with a 3.5mm headphone cable that you can connect your headphones directly for a wired source. One of the biggest and most welcome improvements comes in the form of the USB Type C connector these use. Now I can carry around one less cable. Hands free calling is clear and crisp and my friend who I called said that the mic was working perfectly. The right side of the headphones, along with being used for quick attention mode, is also used to adjust volume, play, pause, or change tracks. Simple swiping motions or taps is all it takes to do that. The rated hours of use is slightly down from the previous model though. These are 30 hours which is 8 less than before, but to me that is still plenty of life for these things. You can use google assistant, but you must remap (using the Sony Headphones Connect App) the NC/Ambient button to do so. I did not change it since I liked being able to toggle between those modes more than I would use google assistant. There was a firmware update that I did have to do right out of the box and it took it about 30 minutes to complete. If you are in the market for a great set of headphones, the you cannot go wrong with these at all.

I have a couple of pairs of headphones by this same manufacturer. I was expecting good, but not this good.... for a wireless pair.
These headphones, pound. When i initially put them on I froze... these are beyond good. I cannot even put into words. Comfortable, quality sound and adjustable via companion app. Pairing was a breeze with the app and conveniently gave me multiple profiles of sound to set the headphones to. It also came with a pretty neat cloth travel container.
Noise Cancelling, huge sound, crisp treble, deep hard base. These are not for the novice.
I cannot think of any cons after using this product for a week plus.
All in all, worth the buy.

I've owned 2 pairs of "high-quality" Sony headphones in the last few years and both broke just outside of the one year warranty. There's a reason these are always on sale and it's because the quality and construction isn't up to par with Bose, Apple and/or the rest of the headphone market. I should've learned after my first pair of Sony's broke, but clearly I didn't. Now, after 2 broken pairs and $500+ spent, I'm done with Sony and you should be too. If you're spending over $300 on headphones, you shouldn't have to worry about them breaking at the 13 month mark and you definitely shouldn't have to spend $70 on an extended warranty. Sony's quality isn't just subpar, but their customer service is as well. I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT be tricked by the sale prices and DO NOT buy these headphones, or any Sony pair, for that matter. After just over a year of normal, work-from-home use, mine are completely broken...and you can see the picture to prove it.

Power drained within hour! I just have received less than 2 weeks. First I thought maybe I didn’t let’s long enough on the charger, so I decided to put it charger all night last night. This morning, I turned the power on, all I heard “the power is on” the. I turned off, that’s it. Now no power. Whole 2 weeks possession, I haven’t got the power to listen 2 songs! Good on noise canceling, but useless without power

I have tested the Boss QC35 and the Sennheiser PXC550. The Boss offered better comfort however the Bluetooth seemed a little finicky and would not reconnect to my home theater system once turned off. Had to re-pair every time. It also offers less features than both the 550 and 1000xm3. The Sennheiser 550 did a fair job but caused a little discomfort to the top of my head and sound was far less superior. Now for the Sony 1000XM3... Comfort was great, Bluetooth superior distance and perfect connectivity. The added features such as fast charge and 30 hour battery life is outstanding. The hand over the ear pause feature and turning on of the amplified ambient sound is great. Can easily hear and speak to someone without taking headphone off. The touch controls for volume and changing tracks works great. I like the full soundstage and bass on this model. I primarily use these for my tv/ movie viewing and they sound full and rich and the added bass over the Bose make these far better for movie watching. It pairs with iPhone with ease and sound great. if I had one negative thing I's say the " only one device" connected was a downfall on Sony's part but this did not bother me in the least. 5 stars all the way!

What does atmospheric pressure have to do with noise cancelling in headphones? Meet the headphones that shows that correlation.
There will be lots of reviews out there on these headphones that finally conclude that the Sony WH1000XM3 not only dethrones the Bose QC35 as the champion in noise cancelling headphones, but also adds unparalleled noise cancelling features and options which is the new defacto industry standard so I'll just share my 2 cents on why this is the new platinum standard for noise cancelling headphones.
Personally, I can't wear the QC35 because of the pressure it applies to your ears when the noise cancelling feature is active. I ended up getting the Sony h.ear which is OK and good sound quality. I tried the WH1000XM1 when they first came out but the pads were thin with my ears pressed in the cups plus a few other issues including comfort.
After seeing the reviews and major improvements on the WH1000XM3, I decided to pull the trigger. I'm impressed by the following:
1. These headphones are lightweight and feel very comfortable. The asthetics looks great and love the subtle gold accents on them.
2. Great improvement on the added padding and slightly wider. My ears now sit very well. They also feel plush. Bose headphones have been the king in this segment for so long.
3. I love the Sony connect app and there is a ton of adjustments you can do to make your listening experience great from optimizing the noise cancelling to sound enhancements and quality. This becomes even more appreciated when you use online music players like Amazon music where you can adjust the settings for extra bass.
4. Ahhhhhh, noise cancelling is where it exactly needs to be. The different modes and adjustments you can make depending on the environment you are in. I'm literally wowed by these features and they work impressively well. A neat feature I'm impressed by is the adaptive sound control with ambient sound control. With the adaptive sound control on, it can detect when you sitting vs walking vs taking the metro vs commuter train and adapt the noise cancelling accordingly. You can even customize how much voice and ambient sound you want to hear or reject. It's pretty accurate and blew me away. These headphones even take it a step further by also optimizing the noise cancelling feature based on the atmospheric pressure. If you have ever told me that a headphone can optimize its noise cancelling features based on the surrounding atmospheric pressure, I'd say no way. Well, it seems like Sony says 'yes' way.
5. Finally, USB-C fast charging. A first in its class.
6. Fold flat capability and really does not take up excessive space.
7. The touch controls seem to be sophisticated and functional. It's growing on me and the true test would be in the winter when I wear gloves. I'm told that it works fine so we'll see.
I hope these will be the last headphones I'd have to buy for at least another 5 years or more because I have quite a lot of them in search of the perfect headphones that does it all. Aside from the price which could run you close to $400 with taxes, this is it for me. If a Sony rep is reading this, please update your connect app to be able to rename or add 20 characters to the the custom 1 and 2 EQ settings. It becomes helpful to identify your listening experience modes.

I bought these for a 14 hour flight from LA to New Zealand. True to the specified 30 hour battery life, my headphones were only about 50% drained after the flight, so I really think the battery life claim is legit (but let’s see how long that lasts). The sound quality is really good as far as I can tell - my only comparison is Bose Comfort 15s that are like 10 years old, and the Sony is much better quality including decent (and clear) bass. And finally the fit and comfort are great. Padding on ears and on top are high quality and feel great. The touch controls on the right side are easy to learn and work fairly well. My only complaint is that every now and then the headphones let in ambient sound on purpose, maybe for safety reasons (or maybe I need to read the instructions again). I highly recommend. Worth the price too.

I did my research, I tried a couple of other brands. I went to the store and tried out most of the other headsets there. None of them came even close. The sound quality on these is just superb. Nice and crisp, no distortion at high volume. Deep bass. The main problem I had with other headphones were my ears would get tired and uncomfortable after wearing them, not these. With the Sony's I wouldn't even feel they're there after 10 minutes. They're so comfortable, I can have them on for a long time. The long lasting battery is a huge plus. The design is very attractive, and the feature I like the most is the fact you can cover one ear and it lets the sound outside come through without removing your headphones. That is just neat, I had all my friends try them out and they just fell in love with them.

Sony really went above and beyond with these headphones. The noise cancelling is really impressive, and is better than the Bose QC35 II. The headphones are very comfortable, but if you wear them for long amounts of time, your ears can start to sweat a little bit. It pairs effortlessly with my phone and laptop, but I wish I could pair to multiple devices at the same time. Nevertheless, the NFC pairing is really quick and easy all I have to do is put my phone against the left earcup and it turns on and pairs in seconds. The buttons underneath the earcup are really easy to tell apart, and I can effortlessly switch between noise cancelling and ambient noise. The touch functions are good and responsive, and perform the swipe functions accurately 98% of the time. The feature where you can put your hand over the right earcup to mute the music to talk to people around you is very useful. The headphones charge quickly, and the battery life is fantastic. It has lasted me about 2 weeks and I've used them everyday for a couple of hours.

If you are looking for the best noise cancelling headphones on the market, look no further. These headphones pack a lot of features in a very sleek and light-weight package. The touch pad controls are very responsive and easy to use. They are extremely comfortable. Can easily be worn for hours. The battery life of 30 hours keep you from having to charge it very often. The sound quality is great. Even with high volume, the bass does not distort. You can optimize it to your liking and the personal EQ is an added plus in the supporting app. I was shocked by how much I enjoy these headphones. Worth the price. Great if you fly a lot or having a long tattoo session.

Fantastic Headphone with terrible Microphone

I have used these headphones for over a month now. For me, listening to music was not the only usage but I used this for taking conference calls during meetings, block out noise on long flights and have a good nap. These are not your everyday use cases but still important ones.
So here it goes ... I am breaking down my review in Pros, Cons, and Wishlist
Pros
1 - Great looking headphone. There is no denying to the fact that the black color of this headphone with copper ascent near the mics is a killer combination.
2 - Very comfortable - I have worn this headphone for long hours, listening to music and podcasts ... occasionally just turn on the NC and have a quieter environment to work or sleep (mostly on flights)
3 - Crazy good Noise Cancellation. With the app, you can configure the levels of NC and this is so good to have. Also, the app can detect if you sitting or moving and make adjustments accordingly. There is annoying aspect too which I will list in Cons sections.
4 - The touch sensor on the right side of the earcup to change songs, increase volume. Once you are used to it, it's so easy to use.
5 - Lound and clear sound. I have old Bose QC 25 (wired) and Sennheiser PXC 550C. This headphone blows the competition ... no doubt.
6 - They use USB C for charging so its future proof. One less cable to carry.
7 - The battery life is fantastic. 30-hour battery life with quick charging (10 min charge for 5 hours of playback)
8 - Quick Attention Mode. Place your hand on right earcup and it reduces music and enhances mics to pick outside noise to hear the conversation with taking off the headphones.
Cons ... yeah we do have some serious cons here
1 - Terrible, crappy and totally unusable microphones. You just cannot use this for taking calls during the conference or one on one meetings. I have paired this with my iPhone X and MacBook Pro but its completely useless. I have had people tell me that its impossible to understand what I am saying, my voice sounds nasal, at times muffled. This is so weird, its end of 2018 and we don't have a decent microphone on these expensive headphones. Very very disappointing.
2 - Really short USB C charging cable. For a headphone priced at $350, I would expect a full size, decent USB C charging cable.
3 - No controls or mic for the wired connection. The wire is just aux cable with 3.5 mm connectivity on both ends.
4 - When the headphone is detecting your movement and changing the NC level using the app, it makes sound and takes a couple of seconds to adjust. While this is Ok during listening to music or podcast but not during calls. You cannot listen to the conversation during those few seconds.
5 - It can maintain its connectivity to the only device at a time. Bose Qc 35 II can maintain to 2. Its important feature to have.
Wishlist ... scope of improvements
1 - Why use Bluetooth 4.2 and not 5. You will have better range and host of other benefits.
2 - A longer charging cable
3 - I could use more padding on the earcups but I understand this subjective to individuals choice.
4 - Please please improve your mics quality (its DSP - Digital Signal Processing) for the calls
At this point of time, if you are wondering if its a great purchase of not ... it totally depends on your use case.
If you want just music, noise cancellation ... and have $350 to spend, go for it by all means.
But
If you are planning to use for taking calls, forget it. You are better with Bose QC 35 II

Let me say Sony really did a great job with these headphones! If you are debating on whether to get these just pull the trigger and do it, you will not be disappointed. Overall comfort, sound, ease of use, and features clearly blow all other wireless noise cancelling headphones out of the water.
PROS:
- They are very comfortable to wear. I know sound should be the most important aspect but I think comfort is huge. These feel really light and soft on the head but not cheaply made. Definitely could wear them for long flights or work days.
- The sound is incredible! The vocals are clear and crisp while the bass is deep and rich. I listened to a wide aspect of music on these and was impressed with all of it. I also watched some movies with them and was really impressed.
- A big part to the sound is the noise cancelling aspect. Its nice how one of the two physical buttons on it is turning on and off the noise cancelling since sometimes you want to hear the sound around you and other time you don't. It definitely puts you in your own world but does not put too much pressure on your ears.
- Having USB-C charging is huge! It's really a big upgrade especially since so much of the market is gearing towards this charging/connection interface. For me it is a must have so I only have to carry one charging chord for my phone / headphones / other portable tech.
- The touch controls on the right hand side are really simple to use and an effective way to be even more hands free from your phone.
- It has this "Quick Attention" feature which is genius. Basically you put your hand on the right touch-pad and it instantly lowers the volume and turns off the noise cancellation so you can hear what's going on around you without having to completely pause music or take them off.
- I really like the style of these. The matte look with the subtle copper hints make it feel premium especially with the leather.
- The size adjusting on it is really smooth as it adjusts while you put it on your head and doesn't feel clanky or hard to move.
- It comes with a really nice premium carrying case. It has a hard casing to protect the headphones but is not too heavy.
CONS (And I'm really grasping at these cons as I like these headphones a lot):
- The App is a nice addition but I would rather not have to use an app at all for headphones. Obviously you don't need to use the app at all but it helps a lot with extra settings.
- I made a few phone calls with it and the receiver of the call said it sounded pretty good but had that tunnel sound a few times. So they are work pretty well but not perfect.

I can’t stop raving about these headphones.
I’ve been a musician for almost twenty years and the sound quality on these are just fantastic. They are not flat response, but full bodied, high resolution, and just downright musical. I’ve discovered all my favorite music like its new again. Articulation of instruments and voices I’ve never heard even with iem’s.
The noise cancelling is fantastic, and it only marginally compresses the audio when it’s on. If you’re in a noisy environment, you’re not gonna tell the difference anyways. I sat and watched “A Quiet Place” with noise canceling on and it was breathtaking.
They are phenomenally comfortable and lightweight. I can’t believe how light these are. I walked through Best Buy and tried every other set of wireless headphones on display and nothing but Bose could touch the comfort these have. The Bose QC35’s are lighter but don’t have the same sound quality, they’re thinner. Skull candy felt like toys, even the $300 pair, and beats felt like they were trying to squeeze the air out of my head.
The touch pad ear cup is the coolest thing ever, we live in the future. It works well and the cupping the ear to listen to ambient noise is the most useful feature of any audio accessory I’ve owned, just wonderful.
The quality of the built is wonderful, lush feel to the padding, smooth supple plastics, and the almost rose golden trim around the microphones and logos are just gorgeous.
The case they came with is fantastic as well.
Last but certainly not least, battery life. Through the roof, grand slam, touchdown, pass go and collect $200. I owned these for four weeks, using them at least every other day in some shape or form and DIDN’T have to charge them ONCE. Four weeks between charges. Unreal.
I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I’d pay $100 more for these things, but very glad I didn’t have to.

I liked the headphones. Their sound was full but their bass was only a little excessive which is not a deal breaker by any means. The fit and finish was perfect and as someone with oily skin, I appreciated the plastic and leather construction which means I can wipe them clean quite easily. The app had a surprising feature that turned on activity detection to guess what the listener was doing to reduce or increase active noise cancellation which allows a person to hear their surroundings while in motion. I turned that feature off because I use headphones exclusively at home. The 30 hour play time is amazing. This means I don't have to remember to charge it all the time. It also doesn't take a lot of time of charge for immediate usage.
The ear cups fit my medium sized ears perfectly well. I saw some reviews that found the ear-cups becoming too hot after prolonged use, that was not my experience. I wore them for hours listening to music, podcasts, online videos and had no issue with heat. I guess it's a personal thing. I can also wear them and lie on a pillow, something I couldn't do with bigger ear-cups on other brands that I used before.
There's a double pronged adapter that comes in the box which works on planes but I never got to test that.
Unfortunately I returned these headphones that I liked so much because the right ear started randomly producing a screeching noise when noise cancellation was turned on. It was not consistently screeching but when it started it stayed for a long time. Since I haven't heard of the same problem occurring to many people I guess it was a defective unit.
