The first pair was for my oldest son who has to the newest thing. He loves them so much that he hasn’t asked for another pair of headphones in 3 years! I bought a pair for my husband who travels a lot and my youngest son last Christmas. This Christmas my middle son asked for a pair. So if 4 boys/men have them and all still satisfied, I would say it’s an excellent purchase.

Trouble Charging

I used them a couple times a week for the first four months then accidentally left them at home when I went on a six month trip. When i started using them again they worked just fine but after about two months of consistent, 6 days a week use, they just seemed to stop charging. I bought new chargers and everything yet they only charged on a whim. I guess “technically” they will charge but it’s basically on a hope and dream. Other than that the headphones work great.

While we're glad that you like most of the features, we are sorry to hear your headphones do not charge properly. I can definitely see how this would be frustrating for you. We appreciate the steps you've gone through to isolate the issue. There are few things that you can check moreover.
Charging cannot be done.
1. Be sure to use the supplied USB Type-C cable.
2. Check that the USB Type-C cable is firmly connected to the headset and the USB AC adapter or computer.
3. Make sure that the USB AC adaptor is firmly connected to the AC outlet.
4. When charging the headset through a USB port on a computer, try the following as well:
- Make sure that the computer is turned on.
- If the computer is equipped with multiple USB ports, use another port.
- Connect the headset directly to the computer without using a USB hub.
- If the computer is in Standby (Sleep) or Hibernate mode, place it back to normal mode.
- If the computer is running on Windows 8.1, use Windows Update to update the operating system.

We're genuinely sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with audio bleed and noise cancellation.
Here are a couple of things you can try to improve these problems:
1) Make sure the headphones are sitting snugly and fully covering your ears. Even a small gap around the bottom or back can let sound out and let ambient noise in. Try adjusting the headband or tilting the earcups slightly.
2) Your XM4s have a fantastic "NC Optimizer" feature that calibrates the noise cancellation to your specific head shape, hair, glasses and even atmospheric pressure.
Make sure you've run the optimization recently, especially if you're traveling or if your environment has changed. You can find this option in the Sony | Sound Connect app.
3) Double-check in the app to ensure the Noise Cancelling mode is fully active and not set to Ambient Sound.
4) Also, sometimes a firmware update can address performance issues, so make sure your headphones are running the latest version within the app.
Give those steps a try! Hopefully, they'll help you unlock the full noise-cancelling and audio potential you should be getting from your WH-1000XM4s.

I'm going to call it my favorite tech of the year so far. Sound quality is among the best I've ever heard in a pair of headphones. Bass is deep but not overwhelming, Mids and Highs come through very clear without sounding muddy or tinny. They are tuned very well and sound great with any genre of music, podcast, or ASMR you want to listen to. Battery life is excellent, I fell asleep with them on early this morning and had them on for about 5 hours listening to a relaxation / guided meditation track and the battery is still holding strong. When I woke up, my ears or head didn't hurt at all, so Its safe to say that the headset is comfortable for long listening sessions. The noise cancellation is fantastic, I sleep in a room with a window A/C unit and I could hardly even hear it through the headset. I forgot I had it on and had to look to make sure it was on before i fell asleep. I never imagined myself wanting to go to bed with headphones on, but these are great and help me tune out sounds that might wake me up and or distract me from the guided meditation I'm listening to. I highly recommend this headset to anyone who wants the best active noise cancellation for your commute, home or office. They are also quite smart. When someone comes and talks to you and it hears you speak, the headset is smart enough to pause the music / track for you and lets in ambient sounds so that you can talk to the person without removing or having to pause yourself. I was pleasantly surprised by the feature and I love it! The right ear cup has touch controls, but I always seem to have trouble using swipe gestures. It's nice to have but i hardly use them. The headset also has a sensor in the left ear cup that senses when you remove the headset from your ears and will automatically pause what you're listening to and resume it when you put them back on. I love this also, don't have to fumble with my phone or other device to take a quick pause. Sony provides a companion app for the headset on iOS and Android that will allow you to tweak different settings and update the headset firmware also. It's very easy to use and stable. I could go on and on about this headset all night, but I need to get some snooze now, But trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed with this headset, and will be very pleased with the build quality, sound quality and all the smart features packed into it.

Got it because of the BB exclusive color. The Sony WH-1000XM line is one of the best Bluetooth headphones lines in the market. Use it mostly with my NW-A45 Walkman that supports HiRes and LDAC codec.

Good Noise Cancelling Headphones
