And the Sony XM4's allow for much more customization. Customization of the sound and noise-canceling features. The hand gestures feature works wonders as well.

If I am going to pay close to $400 for a pair of headphones, they better be loud! Definitely not as loud as what ppl are saying online

We're glad that you like the noise canceling function of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are not having the best experience with its volume. Make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. You can also use the equalizer function of the app to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs.
It may also depend on your source content. Make sure to try multiple sources. Turn up the volume of the headset and the connected device. Connect the Bluetooth device to the headset once again.

I was looking forward to using them for my WFH job. The problem was with the pairing. Even the cheapest skull candy headphones I have paired better than these and stayed that way. These would pair fine with my Mac, Phone and Watch just fine one day, then it could not pair with any of them the next day. It would take an hour of resetting them over and over again before they would be recognized, and once they were they would work for that session only and the next time I would have to go through the whole thing again. Returning to Best Buy and off to buy some that probably do not sound as good.

If the headphones are still with you, we highly recommend performing a software update to isolate the issue: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-1000xm4/downloads. The update improves the Bluetooth connection and the general performance of the headphones. If the issue is still the same, we can reset/initialize the headphones to further isolate the issue by following the guide from the links below:

I could do without Google assistant and Alexa capabilities. Noise canceling with no music is not perfect. Should be totally silent and it's not.

The audio playback on this unit may be delayed from that on the transmitting device, due to the characteristics of Bluetooth wireless technology. As a result, the sound may not be in sync with the image when viewing movies or playing games.
