Didn't quite feel the cost benefit satisfaction I was looking for.

Perfect headphones, if you don't make calls/zoom

First let me just say the sound you receive, and the comfort level, is the best I’ve ever experienced. The problem is the mic, like some reviews mention, it just is not consistent. I needed to use these headphones to make several phone/zoom calls a day, and I was embarrassed to be told on too many occasions that I could not be heard, or the sound was muffled staticy, etc. Note, I really tried to make these work, given the money I spent, and the comfort. But after articles, tutorials, videos, and finally Sony support which you can only connect to via online chat or email, the problems remained. What actually makes the problem especially frustrating is that it is not consistent. After changes and system reset (Sony’s Help go-to), I actually had 3-4 calls in a row where I was told my voice was crystal clear, and thus I believed the problem resolved, but then the 5th call and beyond would be horrific. Subsequent calls via phone or computer would be all over the place. I believe that this is why xm4 is ranked #1 on so many lists, because it tests so well, if you judge simply on a few calls. As some have said, it must not be the mic itself (hardware), but the firmware is just not right, or is trying to do too much. I say this because I read that Sony put in an update to not detect mic frequency response under 150-200Hz, as a further way to suppress proximity noises. What this means is that if you have a deep voice, the mic will begin to filter you out. I have no idea if this is accurate, but as a deep voice cis male myself, this would cause me issues if true. I pray Sony gets their act together, because at this price point, it’s unacceptable, but in the meantime, I’ve gone somewhere else. I just purchased the Bose 700 (my first Bose), as many reviews say the call quality is up to snuff, we’ll see…

Actually hate these headhones

If I wasn’t 16 days outside of my return window they would be going back. They randomly switch between sound types even with downloading the app and setting it through there. They do hold a charge for many hours, but the ambient, noise cancel feature switching is annoying, and there are “buttons” on the side of the right earphone that if you accidentally hit one it makes a change as well. Super bummed - should have stuck with Bose.
