If you are referring to the Sony Headphones Connect app, the headphones will still function without the app. Uninstall the Headphones Connect app to prevent it from collecting and transmitting personal information. While we're glad you like the overall features and performance of this unit, we regret to hear that you're having an issue with the comfort and fit. At Sony, we are always looking to improve our product quality and features. We have noted your input about the lack of comfort and will be sure to forward this feedback to the appropriate department.
As a suggestion, aside from having a super-soft, pressure-relieving earpads foamed urethane that evenly distributes pressure, you can adjust the left and right slider of the headset to ensure a comfortable fit and to use it for longer periods. Hope this helps!
