    BEST BUY OR SONY FIND A SOLUTION FOR ME

    The first moment I tried these headphones, one side didn't work. After several minutes, I dunno why it started to work, so I didn't take it this problem seriously. Two or three weeks later, it happened again, but this time it didn't get fixed and it is still broken until now. If I didn't ask for a refund, it's due to this happened when I had already returned to my country since I bought them during my last month of my holidays in the US. I'm not kidding, these headphones didn't even last a month. I wasted almost 300 dollars for nothing. Now, why am I writing this now? Sometimes this whole situation comes to my mind and it is really frustraring not to doBy the way, these hearing aids arrived on March 14, my flight to Peru was on March 27 and they stopped working before April 3. I also have evidence showing the date these hearing aids stopped working, just in case. So, why am I writing this after months? Sometimes this whole situation comes back to my mind and it's really frustrating not being able to do anything from outside the United States. Anyway, I wanted to vent and also demand that someone from Best Buy or Sony fix this. I'm going to travel to the US again in January next year, so you still have time to think. There are no excuses.

    Order never arrived and I was lied to about a refu

    They told me the order arrived and when I checked there was no package on my porch, I asked my neighbors checked everywhere and it was no where to be found. I then contacted customer support and was told I’d receive a refund. Then 2 weeks later I checked when the refund would be coming and they told me they were no longer sending it. At this time I had left the country for work and now have no means to figure out what happened to my package. Horrible service and I’m mostly angry that I was lied to about the refund which delayed my action until it was too late

    They sounded good and the app was user friendly and with several options, but the pair I bought had Bluetooth connection problems and I had to return them.

Having the latest software version will provide optimum performance to the headphones. These steps might have also improved your experience:

      -Set the headset to “Priority on stable connection” mode (using the Sony Headphones Connect app).

      -Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
      a. When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device.
      In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
      b. There is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device.
      c. In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.

      -Because Bluetooth devices and wireless LAN (IEEE802.11b/g/n) use the same frequency band (2.4 GHz), microwave interference may occur and result in noise, audio dropouts, or communications being disabled if this headset is used near a wireless LAN device. In such a case, perform the following steps:
      a. When connecting the headset to a Bluetooth device, use the headset at least 10 m (30 feet) away from the wireless LAN device.
      b. If this headset is used within 10 m (30 feet) of a wireless LAN device, turn off the wireless LAN device.
      c. Use this headset and the Bluetooth device as near to each other as possible.

      -If you are enjoying music with your smartphone, the situation may be improved by shutting down unnecessary apps or restarting your smartphone.

      -Connect the headset and the Bluetooth device once again.

    Stopped working after 5 months!

    I purchased a pair Bose QuietComfort headphones back ~2015. I never had an issue with them. I decided to upgrade headphones now that bluetooth is an option, and noise-cancelling has improved over the years. I purchased the xm4 headphones, and after 5 months I heard a loud high pitch sound coming from one of the headphones and now it stopped charging, all in the same day. Seems like a common problem from other reviews. I will never buy Sony headphones ever again, and will just go back to Bose. Don't buy these headphones if you want reliable, durable, long lasting headphones.

    Bought these ro use while flying. Well i just went on the first flight and the engine noise would cause them to clip out and essentially turn off. Whatever i was listening to at the time would stop

      We can try a few simple things that often clear this right up:

      -Make sure you use the Sony | Sound Connect app and run the "NC Optimizer" function. It basically calibrates the Noise Cancelling for your specific fit and the current atmospheric pressure.

      -A quick reset can fix many minor electronic glitches. With the headphones plugged into charging, press and hold the Power and Custom buttons at the same time. The headset will be reset.       -Just to be sure, connect them to the app and check if there's any new firmware update available.

    Ear cups are already breaking down. Controls are horrible to figure out. Inconsistent connectivity with multiple devices. Only one ear sensor on left side to sense on or off your head to stop music. on top of that Best Buy no longer offers 30 days returns....... so now im stuck with overrated overpriced head phones.

It's unfortunate that you are not having a complete experience with the connectivity and touch controls features of the headphones. For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is updated (via the Sony Headphones Connect app).

      In the factory setting, the built-in proximity sensor in the left unit and the built-in acceleration sensors in each of the left and right units detect when the headset is attached to or removed from your ears, and the headset automatically controls the touch sensor control panel’s operation, powering off, pausing music playback, etc. (Wearing detection). By using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can change the settings of the wearing detection automatic music playback pause and resume function and the wearing detection automatic power off function (the battery saving function).       Resetting the headset

      -Press both the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.
      If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize the headset to restore factory settings.

      Initializing the headset

      -Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more.

      The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times, and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

One of the possible solutions to the issue is by updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes. If your WH-1000XM4 Headphones turn off unexpectedly after few minutes of use:

      1. Make sure the batteries are fully charged.
      2. Connect the headphones to an audio device, computer, or mobile device with Bluetooth or the supplied audio cable.
      3. If the headphones turn off, listen for the Voice Guidance message:
      • When the remaining battery charge is low: “Low battery, please recharge headset”
      • When automatically turning off due to low battery: “Please recharge headset. Power off”

    Left ear piece fell off after 60 days. I had to use electrical tape to secure because manufacturer refused to repair. Should not have to purchase a warranty to receive a quality item.

    After 2 bose sets i thought id try the sony. Mistake, sounds ok but I use them for phone calls while driving. They pick up too much background noise and the person on the other end cant hear me. Waited too long to take a trip and try them now I cant return them.

While we are glad you like the sound of the XM4 headphones, we're sorry to hear the issue that you are experiencing when using the unit for phone calls while driving. You may hear noise (such as a creak, click, or static) through the wireless headphones when traveling through tunnels, or other environments which air pressure changes easily, even if the noise canceling function is on. If this occurs, temporarily turn off the noise canceling function on the Headphones Connect app.

      Note:
      This symptom has been confirmed to occur often when traveling through the following places at a fixed speed:
      Places where the tunnel widens.
      Places where the tunnels exits into an area shaped like a ditch.

    These are a worthy replacement for the Sony XM3s. They took everything great about the XM3 and refined them. PROS: +Very full sound with excellent bass +Excellent battery life +Type C charging +Ability to connect to 2 devices at once +Comfortable head band and plush earcups, less "cabin pressure" than many competing headphones. +Superior Bluetooth range to the XM3 and Bose QC45 CONS: -The plastic components can creak if you move your head a lot. However, it's much better than the XM3 and isn't noticeable when music is playing. Overall, these are my favorite headphones and are well worth the investment, especially when they're on sale.
