Excellent headphones, defaults notwithstanding

I was cautious about wireless headphones after using Audio-Technica M50Xs for about five years, but the sound quality with these headphones is almost indistinguishable from a wired connection. I was not a fan of the out-of-box sound setup, but the equalizer is very user-friendly and allowed me to quickly find the right balance for me. I strongly encourage anyone who uses these headphones to immediately go to the equalizer in the app, since the default sound setup is a little hollow and wet. The headphones have excellent battery life and hold a charge quite well; I use them for several hours a day and only need to charge once a week. The noise cancelling effect makes me a little dizzy so I appreciate the option to turn it down. I also appreciate that the effect turns off when the microphone detects that you are talking. My only real complaint, as before, with these headphones is that the defaults don't sound too great. The app offers wide customization, however, so it's not a big complaint at all.

As someone who likes to still be aware of her surroundings at times, the ambience sound does an amazing job and so does the noise canceling. One of the best noise canceling headphones I had ever used, it covers my ears completely, not allowing any other sound to interfere. They are perfect.

The noise cancelling feature is top notch and fits perfectly with no movement during squats and bench presses at the gym. Overall love them

Best wireless headphones I have ever owned. I am sensitive to the "pressure" effect that some noise cancelling headphones can create - not a problem with the XMx's - and the sound is great! My Son hijacked my XM3s, so for MY birthday I bought HIM the XM4s, so I could have mine back - opting to keep the XM3s for myself due to the slightly longer reported battery life (I frequently travel internationally, and nothing sucks more than your headphones running out of charge mid flight!). My Son indicated equivalence of the XM3 & XM4 in most every way, with the XM4 seeing improvements in spatial imaging and bandwidth separation. He is also a fan of the sensors inside the ear cups that detect if you are wearing them or not, to extend battery life. Though I never experience any issues with the Bluetooth 4 in the XM3s, the XM4s are Bluetooth 5. Newer = better, right? (Side note - I had an issue with my WF-1000XM3 earbuds. Called Sony and they had me ship them back to them. 3 days later I had a brand new pair. Great Customer Support!)

At the time of purchase I could have bought the XM5's but still chose the MX4. The MX5's felt better on my head but I think I was hearing better bass in the MX4's and I'm more into the bass side. I just liked the sound from the 4's better than the 5's and I have the 100 Daily Listener Badge too that the app tracks.

XM4 are still great noise cancelling headphones

My two older children have them. This is the second set I have bought for my daughter. She - literally - wore the first pair to death (24 /7 - 7 days a week.) and they fell apart after 3 years. Unless you're a teenage girl, they will probably last you even longer. These are still probably one of the best pairs of noise cancelling headphones on the market and, these days, you can often get them on sale for much cheaper than Sony's current generation leader WHXM5s. I have enjoyed my own XM4s so much that I have seen no reason to upgrade - and probably won't - until my pair finally kicks the bucket. Unless you need to have the most current shiny - these remain a great choice in HQ NC headphones.

The sound is crystal clear and they are so comfortable that I've fallen asleep wearing them. The battery life is amazing - I use them every night and only charge them once in two weeks. Excellent Headphones!

Very comfortable on our flight from California to Hawaii and back. Barely dented the power reserve according to the excellent app. designed for use with these headphones. A bit tricky getting them back in the case, but that's about it for the criticism.

Gets the job done

The one issue I have found is that the touch controls on the right headphone are not very responsive, and sometimes take 2 to 3 times to pause the music. The sound quality is good and they are light on my head. I also like that the storage case is compact as can be, and carries the essentials.

Great headset

It is a little lighter on my head, so I don't feel it at all. The bass response is much better too, doesn't distort so fast like the other one did. I'm a fan.

I bought this product while it was on a flash sale, and this was one of the best investments I have ever made. The headphones sit comfortably on your ears, the sound quality is smooth with a sturdy bass, and the noise cancellation is astonishing. The battery life is great too as it can last for almost 20 hours for me. I mainly use it for the gym, and I could go on without charging it for a whole week. With a built-in swiping feature, I am also able to skip through songs and hold down the headphone to muffle the music and listen to outside noise. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to buy nice headphones for a decent price

The NC and the 360 audio is really impressive at this price point. I like the build quality a lot better than the Bose. I rarely have to worry about charging. Highly recommend. Also the case is perfect for travel. This is my second pair. First one got stolen :(

Best headphones you can buy

I believe that the Sony XM4 are superior in sound quality and noise canceling. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear for long periods, and I find that they provide a fuller sound for all content.

Best Headphones I've ever bought!

I take video meetings and people can hear me clearly. The sound cancelling function works very well. And the battery life is amazing. I can use them all day for 4 days before the battery dies.

I Love These Headphones!

I travel heavily for work and the noise cancellation is optimal. Zero noise from the airline or any crying babies makes this a plus to have. Allows for easy focus on what you’re listening. The sound is impeccable. Crystal clear and I don’t need go above 75% of volume capacity to hear at a good volume. Connects easily and the sound adaptive feature makes listening at home or on the plane seamlessly simple. Comes in a nice case with charge cable and aux cable for connection to in flight entertainment.
