Sound Quality Is Good That’s About It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve used these headphones for many purposes and they’re not very comfortable compared to the BOSE and they don’t sit firmly on my head when at the gym. Yes I know these aren’t made to be used at the gym but every time I lay down on a bench the top part of the headphones comes loose and they fall backwards as I sit up. In general they’re very warm around the ears and my ears aren’t big by any means but they touch the inside of the ear cups. The sound quality is great but the noise cancellation isn’t what I expected. To be honest by AirPods Pro noise cancellation is just a little under what these are capable of.

I’m not an ancient Egyptian and I don’t like reading hieroglyphs to learn how to do stuff. Give me step by step instructions out of the box! That’s part of what I’m paying for these instructions are NOT easy. I bought these headphones for my hard of hearing 93 year old father in-law to watch TV. I have Sony smart TVs in the house so I thought I’d by Sony headphones thinking they’d be easy to connect and operate - they’re NOT!

A Disappointing Follow-up To WH-1000XM3

To begin with, I was a bit disappointed that I could not connect the headphones via bluetooth to two computers at once since the required app can only be used for a pc and a mobile device but not two pc's from what I can tell. The other unfortunate issue is the background noise while in noise canceling mode. I also noticed my connection drops out every few seconds. I'm really disappointed with this purchase, I expected a much better build.

We'd love to troubleshoot the issue and make this a better experience for you. In the meantime, please make sure to install the latest software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. For the noise-canceling feature, please check if the Adaptive Sound Control is turned off. Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient.
Also, adjust the headset into a comfortable position. This will help improve the noise-canceling of the headphones.
For the Multi-point feature, the WH-1000XM4 is capable of connecting to 2 mobile devices, 1 computer, and 1 phone.

Broke within 60 days of light use

The right headphone stopped producing sound within 2 months (october). I am unable to leverage the manufacturer's warranty because the sony customer support portal is "unavailable due to technical difficulties". Beware buying these headphones, if you don't want to risk losing $300+ on a defective product. Regarding the quality of these headphones, they have a worse form factor than the Bose QC35-II, which has a roomier earcup and physical buttons (Sony touch controls frequently get triggered unintentionally, so I had to disable them). However, the sony has more software features & a more reliable bluetooth connection. The ideal headphone would have the form factor of Bose, and the software of Sony. Luckily, my Bose headphones are still going strong (I use bose for my day job), so it's not a huge loss for me.

Posted .Hi babymastodon, good to know that you like the software of the headphones. It's unfortunate that one side is no longer working. Resetting and initializing the headset may help resolve the issue.
Resetting the headset: Press both the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.
Initializing the headset to restore factory settings: Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

Not what I expected

But I discovered you can use them as a gaming headset but the sound quality was bad while in discord. I found out that the 1000xm4s came out and expected them to fix the Bluetooth handicap only to buy them and find out it was the same problem. Not only that, but I am getting way worse battery life than my 1000xm3s and I honestly think the sound quality isn't as good or as loud. The noise cancelation is better however but that isn't worth $350 to me. I will be returning them soon.

Sound great, but the swivel connector breaks

But search “Sony headphones broke,” and you’ll find that the plastic swivel connectors routinely break, leaving the pricey headphones usable. This has happened to me twice, so I’m moving on to the better constructed Apple AirPods Pro.

Useless for online calls.

They disconnect mid-conversation and you only know after you see the other parties' mouths moving but you hear nothing. I turned off all automatic options per some user forums and they still disconnect. Having paid $350 for a basic function like being able to call others when working remotely, and not performing appropriately even on such a basic task, is ludicrous.

Turn the headphones off and on, and then reconnect them to your computer.
Restart the computer.
Reset the headphones.

Note: Depending on the computer or app, the headphones may not work as expected. In this case, try different apps or a different computer to determine if the issue is with the headphones, the app, or the computer.

not long lasting headphones
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought these headphones 2 years ago and i’m telling you, do not get them. i know they are popular and they look good but these headphones stop working out of nowhere! first they didnt want to connect to my phone and then a couple days later they don’t want to charge at all. and it’s not only me, there is tons of people with the same problem like mine. again do not get these headphones if you want to save your money, they will stop working on you out of nowhere!
