Noise canceling or if you want to be able to hear your surroundings as well. The battery life is pretty good while I’m the noise canceling mode.

Being able to pair 2 devices was a feature I never knew I needed in a pair of quality headphones. Voice detection can be a bit hit or miss, so you either love it or not. There is a learning curve when it comes to swipe gestures and connectivity so keep that in mind. Other than that - these are top tier when it comes to audio and drowning out the noise around you - these are the headphones you want if you want to get lost in pure music.

Noise cancellation not working as well

Overall good headphones

But switching between devices isn't as seamless as I hoped, and noise cancellation is also much worse than I had expected. However, they are a very solid pair of headphones overall, and they've kept in good condition for 3+ years and many hours of wear.

Fantastic Sound Cancelling Headphones

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Something you need to understand going into the prospect of buying active noise cancelling headphones is that no review — not mine, not anybody else's — is a substitute for putting on a pair and trying them for yourself. That said, I absolutely love my Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, and wouldn't trade them for anything. It's perfectly possible to use these with no sound cancelling whatsoever, and they're fine for that, I suppose, but they really come into their own when you use them as they were meant to be used. Also, like some other manufacturers' offerings, these are intended to be used with an app installed either on a smartphone or a tablet, because in order to have full access to the range of capabilities they're capable of, you need the app. However, whether you have an Android-based phone or an iPhone, or you have an iPad or an Android-based tablet, you're good to go. Sony has made their app available on both platforms. So, if you're anathema to having or using a smartphone or tablet, then look at a much more basic model, whether from Sony or anyone else. That said, these units are INCREDIBLE at nulling out background sound. In fact, they are built to be able to identify and selectively cancel out different kinds of sound. This can mean something like train and subway noise, motor noise, and a whole range of other things. They can filter out — or not filter out — human voice. In fact, they can selectively not filter human voice yet filter out much of the rest of the spectrum, letting you have a very comfortable conversation with someone without having to take them off and put them back on again. The app, used in conjunction with a tablet or smartphone, can be set up to know if you're at home, if you're out at some specific location, or if you're on the move, and function accordingly. Riding your bike? Going for a walk? Well, perhaps you shouldn't mute out all vehicle noise for safety reasons, and these headphones allow for all those sort of possibilities. So yes, these are not cheap headphones by any means, but for what they do and how well they do it, they're worth every penny.

Better than Airpods Max

Excellent noise cancelling and stable bluetooth

However, AirPods Pro sometimes disconnects while a meeting that I struggled with. Sony WH-100MX4 has a better noise cancelling and over-the-ear style that doesn't harm to my ear, so I could use it for a long time in a day. In addition, Bluetooth connection to my mac is very stable. I never encounter unknown-disconnection. Overall, I'm very happy to use this product and keep use it while a meeting.

Big bang for your buck

Otherwise the sound is amazing as it the noise cancelling feature. Very comfortable, as well.

Once I have these on I focus increases like crazy. The only down side is you can’t really talk on the phone if they’re connected, you sound very muffled but that’s a given

Best set of headphones I had

Worth Every Penny

They recently released the XM5s which apparently have slightly better noise-cancelling and quality but honestly for the price(especially during a sale) you can't go wrong with these!

Comfy sound boosting headphones

These are my favorite headphones I've ever purchased to date. The only negative i have is that they slip off head while working out in different positions other than sitting/standing up straight.
