The Very Best Noise Cancelling Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Before I had experience with a good set of noise cancelling headphones I didn't understand what all of the fuss was about. They don't look any different than my normal headphones so why would I pay more for these? Truth be told it is hard to tell someone how much better they really are. When you put them on the world around you disappears, and you are left truly immersed in your music. With that being said the Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless noise cancelling headphones truly take the experience to the next level. First things first the star of the show is the active noise cancellation, and it works brilliantly. I am completely isolated from the sounds of the outside world, and left with only my music, and my thoughts. Perhaps my favorite feature is the fact that while wearing them I can talk to someone, and the headphones automatically stop the music, and allow ambient sound in so that I can have a conversation. The convenience of this feature cannot be overstated! That really is the start of a theme with these headphones. Quality, and convenience. The earcup features a touch panel for all of your controls. I have never been a huge fan of this in the past, but the Sony - WH-1000XM4 makes things very intuitive with everything being controlled with a tap, a swipe, or a hold. To put it simply playback of my music actually sounds better on these headphones than any other speakers I have. Period. The associated app is really handy as well. Lots of options to play around with including assigning the function of the custom button on the headphones. The build quality of these headphones is absolutely fantastic. The nicest I have experienced in that regard, and I can already tell they will last for years to come. My next favorite feature is the battery life. Sony claims 30 hours and 10 minutes of charge will get you an astounding FIVE HOURS of playback. To my pleasant surprise I would have to say that these figures are accurate (depending on volume). Overall these are the finest headphones I have ever had the pleasure of using. They can take you from the crowded seats of a city bus to a journey where nothing exists other than you, and your music. Lots of noise cancelling headphones do things right , but the Sony - WH-1000XM4 do it best! These receive my highest recommendation.

Definitely worth the price! I get distracted easily so I think these will help me focus at work/school. However it does not connect to calls that well. I did not charge it for 1 month and it still held up.

The best headphones I ever owned!

First off the noise cancellation is the best I've ever heard without even turning the headphones on I could barely hear anything! I quickly downloaded the app and try to set the music to the way I like and it's really quite simple once you get the hang of it. I then Bluetoothed it to my phone to see how it would sound. I went to my music playlist and picked a few songs to listen to. I was singing Extremely Loud and I couldn't hear myself, but the music wasn't that loud in my ear which is amazing! Then I called my mom and my aunt to see how the call Quality was, and they said that they didn't even know I was on a headset until I told them. They say it sounds better than when I talk to them on the phone without a headset. You just have to be careful when you're taking a walk Outdoors because you can't hear anything behind you. You have to set the headset noise cancellation function , so you can hear outside noise. I almost got hit by a person riding a bike and didn't even hear him coming. I'm still learning a whole bunch of new features, but I would definitely say that this is worth every penny! It's extremely comfortable and the sound is phenomenal!

The battery life is the same as when I got them. I’ve slept with them on numerous times and I don’t even need to recharge them when I wake up. The padding is still in great condition too. The only complaint I have is that these have ruined other headphones for me! The sound quality and noise cancelling on these are too good. I can only listen to music and watch movies with these on. I highly recommend these headphones.

Amazing Noise Cancellation and Awesome Music

Pros - Punchy bass and awesome music - Good connectivity to 2 devices and switching between device is flawless (iOS and a mac) - Noise Cancellation is out of the world (Bose do check it out :D ) Cons - Been a bose user all along I feel pressure on my head with the headphones on - Voice quality on phone calls is pretty inferior the receiving person has difficulty hearing me, I have QC35 II and NC700 from Bose on both of them the call quality is fall superior. If Phone call quality can be improved through software update, I would give back the missing star.

We regret to hear that it hasn't provided you with the best comfort. Make sure to adjust the headband for optimum fit and comfort. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while. The longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt. You may need to limit your headphone usage.

To ensure an optimal listening experience, downloading the Sony Headphones Connect app lets you adjust your bass levels and gives you sound quality presets. There is even an EQ in there—which can be customized to fine-tune your music to your liking.
For comfort, try adjusting the headband and the earpads properly. Our WH-1000XM4 has a slider that you can use to adjust the length of the headband to get the best fit and for comfortable listening experience. These headphones actually support super-soft, pressure-relieving earpads in foamed urethane evenly distribute pressure and increase ear/pad contact for a stable fit.
Note: If you put on the headset without adjusting the slider, the headset may not be positioned properly on your head, resulting in discomfort or a weak noise canceling effect. These headphones have literally changed my experience in listening to music all day on a plane or doing work or just channeling out. I'd probably wear headphones for 45 minutes before taking them off. These bad boys stay on (and play) all day, in a completely immersed world of clean, rich, wow.. (also the battery lasts forever and they're super light).
