We're glad that you like the noise canceling function of the headphones. Your feedback about the mic quality is greatly appreciated. For optimum performance, it is recommended to install the latest software version of the headphones. When using a video calling application on a computer, switch the Bluetooth connection to HFP or HSP with the computer. During a video call, sound quality may become low due to the conditions of the communication line. You can also check the settings of the app that you are using for mic sensitivity if available.

Do Not Get This!!!

I bought a set for myself previously, and they failed to charge. I got another headset, it also failed... Charging is an issue with these headsets... 1st pair, charging port failed, 2nd pair, will charge, but powers off and on within seconds and won't connect to my android after 2 weeks. My daughters headset, will no longer charge at all. I use multiple headsets, including Beats studio 3s, Sennheiser, and cheap Amazon offerings (they all still work) and have no charging issues. DO NOT GET THESE... How in the world 3 of these sets fail? I use their charging cable, have not had issues with any of my other headsets but these are no good. AVOID!!

Wake the computer up if the computer is in standby (sleep) or hibernation mode. When using Windows 8.1, update using Windows Update. Doesn't cause ear fatigue. The earpieces will break one after the other. I reached out to Sony before the warranty was up and they denied coverage. I paid $173 to fix the broken piece and now I will throw them out as the other side has now broke. I wont be buying another Sony product.

Sound wise, I wasn't blown away and expected much more for this price point. Ultimately, I decided to return the item because pairing to Bluetooth devices requires using the Sony app, which is pretty inconvenient if you're used to easy pairing with Apple devices.

Sound is good. Again my biggest pain with this product is that it's not for everyone. People with ears that sti k out even a little from average will experience pain.

We're glad that you like the sound quality and touch controls of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are not having the best experience with its comfort. Make sure to adjust the headband for optimum fit and comfort. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.

Squeals feel like an ice pick in the ear drum

White noise (a small electrical noise with continuous static sound) is heard. This happens because of the Noise Canceling function. To avoid white noise, turn off the Noise Canceling function.
If you are experiencing white noise while using the WH-1000XM4, please try these steps to troubleshoot the issue with your WH1000XM4. First, please make sure that the headphones are up to date with its software. When the Noise Canceling or Ambient Sound Control is On, the vibration of walking or running may be transmitted from your body and cause noise. To avoid this, turn Off the Noise Canceling or Ambient Sound Control.
If the noise is heard when you push the headphones into your ears, or when you tap the touch sensor strongly. This temporary noise can happen because of the Noise Canceling or Ambient Sound Control function and air-tightness of the headphones. This is normal, and not a malfunction.
