They’re extremely comfortable and don’t hurt my ears or head. Battery lasts me a few days and I use these headphones almost all day.

A downgrade, IMO.

I've had the previous XM3 model for over six years and the only reason I had to finally move on from it was due to extreme wear and tear. So I thought I'd upgrade this time. The XM4 is, for me, a downgrade. Everything I cared about is worse. The distance from my computer before the sounds gets choppy and cuts out has lessened. The headset is finicky with which device it wants to connect to. Sometimes I'll have to actually disconnect one device so that another can join instead. But then other times, it's perfectly fine? There was also this awful feature where it would attempt to auto detect my surrounds and turn on and off noise cancelling at will. This is on by default. I will admit that the auto shutdown after a few minutes of detecting it's no longer on my head is nice. Just wish I could adjust how longe before it does that. Wish it were 10 mins. I honestly wish I just tried to get the same model instead of "upgrading".

Regarding the issues you mentioned, here are a few quick things you can try to make the headset behave a bit better:
-In the Sony | Sound Connect app, go to the Sound tab and switch the Bluetooth Connection Quality to "Priority on Stable Connection." This should help with the choppiness and range.
-In the app, you can disable the "Adaptive Sound Control" feature which changes your settings based on your location or movement.
-You can actually adjust or disable the auto-off sensor in the "System" tab of the app to give you more control over when they shut down.
If those steps don't fix the issues, please get in touch with our support team at https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=headphones so we can look into the connection issues further.

I’m sad Best Buy no longer sells it directly but they are affordable and sound great. Mine broke at the hinge. I now have the xm6s which are amazing but I wish they had bass like the xm4s and maybe the same comfort.

Listening to Washed Out makes me feel like I'm gravitating lol. These headphones are great. The main reason I bought these headphones is so I can connect to two devices. Connecting to 2 devices are a blessing because I'm on my laptop and phone all day and switching between the two without disconnecting on either is awesome. On my galaxy buds, I don't have to disconnect but I have to click on the Bluetooth on both devices to switch. With these, I don't have to. I'm using the free trial on Tidal and I listened to music with the 360 spatial audio. It sounded ok, but it's not that special to me. I still download my music (not tedious at all lol) so I will continue to use the app my music on and use Tidal until the trial runs out. The Tidal HIFI music doesn't have enough bass for me tbh. The touch controls are great. My only complaint is that I wish they were on both the left and right side. Maybe I just got spoiled with my Galaxy Buds or something, but for now just having touch controls on one side is kinda annoying. Long story short, these headphones are AMAZING and I'm glad I bought these while they were on sale.

Insane sound, battery life is crazy. I rollerblade with these on and the noise cancelling blocks out the wind.

Excellent headphones, defaults notwithstanding

I was cautious about wireless headphones after using Audio-Technica M50Xs for about five years, but the sound quality with these headphones is almost indistinguishable from a wired connection. I was not a fan of the out-of-box sound setup, but the equalizer is very user-friendly and allowed me to quickly find the right balance for me. I strongly encourage anyone who uses these headphones to immediately go to the equalizer in the app, since the default sound setup is a little hollow and wet. The headphones have excellent battery life and hold a charge quite well; I use them for several hours a day and only need to charge once a week. The noise cancelling effect makes me a little dizzy so I appreciate the option to turn it down. I also appreciate that the effect turns off when the microphone detects that you are talking. My only real complaint, as before, with these headphones is that the defaults don't sound too great. The app offers wide customization, however, so it's not a big complaint at all.

Great sound quality, sometimes laggy though

Only issue I have is that with short form content sometimes audio lags behind when videos start, after a couple of seconds it catches up though.

Bought my Son a pair for MY birthday...

Best wireless headphones I have ever owned. I am sensitive to the "pressure" effect that some noise cancelling headphones can create - not a problem with the XMx's - and the sound is great! My Son hijacked my XM3s, so for MY birthday I bought HIM the XM4s, so I could have mine back - opting to keep the XM3s for myself due to the slightly longer reported battery life (I frequently travel internationally, and nothing sucks more than your headphones running out of charge mid flight!). My Son indicated equivalence of the XM3 & XM4 in most every way, with the XM4 seeing improvements in spatial imaging and bandwidth separation. He is also a fan of the sensors inside the ear cups that detect if you are wearing them or not, to extend battery life. Though I never experience any issues with the Bluetooth 4 in the XM3s, the XM4s are Bluetooth 5. Newer = better, right? (Side note - I had an issue with my WF-1000XM3 earbuds. Called Sony and they had me ship them back to them. 3 days later I had a brand new pair. Great Customer Support!)

The only con for me is that I wouldn’t use them in the gym.
