Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the WH1000XM4. We're glad that you like the sound quality and noise canceling function of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are experiencing connectivity issues.
For optimum performance, make sure to update the software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app). You may also find these steps helpful:
-Set the headset to “Priority on stable connection” mode using the Sony Headphones Connect app.
-Remove any obstacles between the antenna of the connecting Bluetooth device and the built-in antenna of the headset.
-Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
>When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device. In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
>When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device.
>In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
>Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train.

Resetting and initializing the headset may also help resolve those issues:
Resetting the headset
-Press both the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.
If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize the headset to restore factory settings.
Initializing the headset
-Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times, and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

Beware - Not Worth the Investment

I only used them while working and made sure to keep them protected in their case while not in use. A few weeks ago, plastic at the right the ear cuff joint began snapping off and the piece has continued to disintegrate. It is now unwearable and functionally useless. I immediately contacted Sony and although the product is within warranty, they refuse to cover "physical damage". There was never an incident that would have caused this damage, so I'm very disappointed in these headphones and am now researching alternatives! I now know that there are many Reddit threads about this exact damage occurring. This was a terrible first experience with Sony customer service and I will be avoiding their products moving forward.

Great headphones with a few major drawbacks

You need a lawyer to explain what you're agreeing to. Honestly I have no idea why these are so complicated. No ps4 or 5 support even though they are superior to the sets they make for the systems. Pretty much a let down other than the battery life and sound quality after finally getting them set up. If you are getting them just for your phone and dont care about signing your life away these are for you.

You can connect these headphones to your television so you can get the audio from your PlayStation and other gaming consoles. PlayStation headphones are best to be paired with PS4/PS5 consoles.

You usually either get good noise-cancelling, or good sound quality, but this one has an excellent combination of both. It's expensive, so I recommend getting it on sale like I did. Either way, an excellent pair of headphones.
