To improve the volume range, you can download in your phone the Sony | Sound Connect app and check for firmware updates: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-1000xm4/software/00261613

Also, you can adjust the Equalizer settings to boost certain frequencies or overall gain.
In the app, set Sound Quality Mode to Priority on Sound Quality, which can improve dynamic range.

Hi Nick, Awesome! We are glad to hear you like the excellent noise canceling feature on your WH-1000XM4 headphones. These headphones have great cushioning and adjustability. This will help the headphones stay on your head while working out. These will work great for you while working out “Non-Hardcore”. That being said, these headphones are not specifically designed for sports activities and it doesn't have an IPX rating since it's not waterproof. I recommend you practice caution when using the unit while you are sweaty or when working out with these headphones so they don’t fall or become damaged during your exercise.

We are extremely pleased to hear you're enjoying its incredible audio and you like that it came with a plug adaptor for in-flight use to enjoy the in-flight entertainment system. We appreciate your feedback regarding the operations when the unit is charging. Unfortunately, using the headphones while charging is not supported. When the headset is connected to an AC outlet or computer, all operations such as turning on the headset, registering or connecting to Bluetooth devices, and music playback cannot be performed.

The WH-1000XM4 headphones keep you going with up to 30 hours of battery life plus you can get 5 hours worth of charge after just 10 minutes with an optional AC adapter.
