I am very pleased with this product. My only critique involves the ear cup “fingertip” controls: they just aren’t as responsive consistently as I would like. At times they simply “refuse” to respond with the desired action.

The XM4's are by far the best ANC headphones on the market, especially at $279. These headphones easily compete with the offerings from BOSE and have a wonderful sound signature. The midnight blue option provides a high end classy look. I use these for evening listening of a wide variety of genres. The ANC is excellent to the point I've not heard someone yelling my name from just one room over. The ANC is fully adjustable so you can set yours so you can hear someone talking to you. But to cut to the chase, great headphones, worth every penny.

Great at noise canceling, especially needed since I commute in public transportation. I always felt the bass on those were a bit too much but I could always change eq on my iPad. I finally decided to purchase the WH-1000XM4 headphones because I had heard a lot of good things. And they were not lying. They still have great noise canceling but the sound to me is more open and not too heavy on the bass. The app is also pretty cool. It's got a lot of features. I really dig these headphones and I'm very happy with dishing out over $300 for them.

There is a Sony App that allows you to adjust the EQ and that has made the sound profile very good. You can also adjust some of the features, like if the headphones go silent when you start to talk Overall these are near audiophile headphones with very competent active sound suppression. The only downside for me is that the ear pads are a little small and tend to get warm. They are not water resistant and the newer 5 series have better sound suppression But is you are cost sensitive these are a great buy when they are on sale

New features not that amazing

Switching between devices when connected to multiple is still very sketchy. Random disconnects even at close range. The mute-when-talk feature sounds great, but not if you find yourself singing along to your music at all. Not really worth the upgrade from the XM3's

Make sure to update the software of the headphones (via Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. You do have the option to turn off the Speak-to-Chat function by holding 2 fingers to the touch sensor control panel. When using the multipoint function, make sure to turn off or pause the music playback of the device that is not in use. You may refer to this link for more information:

They are sweat resistance and easy to clean. Once a month cleaning the leather part of the headphones will do it for the headphone. Wiping them down after every session of the gym, will get rid of the ordo and stains. AWESOME SOUND QUALITY AND GREAT NOISE CANCELLING. It does havea sensor on the left of the headphone to sense detect when the headphone are off of the head.

They became pretty flat around 3 months after i git them, but i wore them like 24/7. I dont regret getting them though. I sometimes go all week without having to charge them.
