He had the original ones and really liked them. He used them so much that repaced the ear pads at least once. The new and improved ones (XM4), aside from being completely noise-cancelling, offer more bells and whistles. And I now have a pair, too!

Great Noise Cancelling Headphones

They try to be quiet, but there are just constant minor distraction sounds anyways. These headphones are perfect for this. Synched with computer and MS Teams real easy. Can use with just NC function. Or can us use with NC and soft music to concentrate, or whatever helps you concentrate. With the NC on and music on low volume I find it real easy to focus on work. Music sounds great louder too if I am just listening to music.

The software features are very useful. But 3.5mm headphone jack is not 4-pole so you cant use the built in microphone through a cable.

The freq response is wide (even wider if you run them wired) and the noise cancellation exceeded my expectations and my experience. While the Bose 700s are good, the XM4s are truly better. I did find them to be a little more brassy than the XM3s. My only disappointment was that the ear cushions are not thick enough to contain some of the higher volumes and someone sitting next to me can hear what I am listening to. But sound construction, wide freq response, full featured, phenom NC. What’s not to like?

Sony vs Apple vs Bose After multiple reviews on YT and other tech pages, I went with Sony over AirPod Max for 2 basic reasons: 1) Price 2) Package Sony are literally half the price of APM!!! Also, it comes with carrying case and other things whereas Apple comes with a funny looking pouch(?!?) and exposes the softest part of the device! Sound is great and the companion app is great too, have put in some hours on it already. Cups were initially heavy on my ears but its getting more and more comfy daily.

Great product, crummy app
