But you are right in relation to the touch control. I'm not getting the pause when I double tap, that I do when I use my Bose in NC700s. However the volume up and the forward and reverse or should I say forward track and previous track. Does seem to work.

The sensor of the touch sensor control panel is built into the flat surface of the right unit. Operate within the range of the sensor. When you swipe your finger forward/backward or up/down on the touch sensor control panel, the touch sensor control panel may not work correctly depending on the angle at which the headset is worn or the direction your head is facing. Also, the headset will not operate correctly when you operate the headset with your fingernail or a gloved hand. Remove your glove, and operate the headset with the ball of your finger.

My Xm4 review

A must have headset!

Good Headphones

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent sound, especially once you tune it in the app. Wired mode for low latency is great, and I can confirm there's no weird behavior with the Bluetooth when using it with Fedora 35 workstation (apart from my poor bluetooth antenna causing some stuttering here and there.) I can't say the same for Ubuntu 21.04 however; my laptop eventually got stuck connecting to the headset profile. Turning on multiple device connectivity using the app fixed this, but be aware it also disables LDAC. Noise canceling is outstanding, and once you get a little music going the outside world just disappears. The headphones' band does start to hurt after a while, and being closed back headphones your ears can get hot. I readjust it every so often.

Prefer Bose QC45

Why? -Way too hot and ear fatigue after 1 hour Zoom meeting. QC45s perfectly comfortable for recent 3 hour flight. -does not seamlessly pair with multiple devices. So much fiddling with Bluetooth controls to pair and re-pair between devices. Unlike QC45s, which pair seamlessly and immediately. -touch controls not very responsive. Best feature is holding hand over ear to pause music but I can live without that. -sound quality is good, but so is sound from QC45. -noise canceling is perfect but so is qc45.

Adjusting the headband and the earpads properly can help reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones. Multipoint is a function which allows you to connect 2 Bluetooth devices to the headset and use one device for music playback (A2DP connection) and the other for calls. Making sure that software is updated as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements and multipoint connection is turned on using the Sony Headphone|Connect app may help resolved the issue. Great heaphones but not premium feel for the price

A Blast to the Past

Okay, but there are better options in 2022

I tried them out after using the WF-1000XM4 and found the the ear buds to be superior in almost every way. The noise canceling is better, there's not a weird third option between ambient sound and noise canceling, the bluetooth stability is better, the ambient pass through is MUCH better (its pretty bad on these), etc. The only edge I would give to these is comfort, but the material does get hot after a couple of hours. I did ultimately return these and picked up the airpod maxes and have been happier with that purchase.

While we're glad you appreciate the comfort, we truly regret to hear you're not having the best experience with your WH-1000XM4. These headphones achieve a tight seal over the ears. If the effect of noise canceling is not sufficient, please check the guidelines and steps
To ensure optimal performance with noise canceling, please refer to the steps and guidelines below:
• Make sure that the noise canceling function is turned on.
• Adjust the headset into a comfortable position.
• The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
• Check that the Adaptive Sound Control is turned off.
Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient.
We regret to hear that the headphones had to be returned.
We hope you will consider Sony again in a future purchase. Thank you for the feedback.
