Great Quality Headphones but...

I did not like having to use an app to have the control settings. The other brand I purchased is able to work seamlessly without the app. They are great-quality headphones but did not like the user interface.

While we are glad to hear that you are happy with your new WH-1000XM4 headphones, we are sorry to hear that it did not meet all of your expectations. You can use the headphones even without the application installed on your Bluetooth device. The Sony Headphones connect app will allow you to change the settings of the WH-1000XM4 and these settings will remain even if the headphones disconnects or pairs to another device. The settings will only revert back to default when the headphones are initialized back to factory default. I hope this helps and thank you so much for your feedback.

Quality Headphones with Extraneous Features

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, however, I do not think these headphones offer the greatest sound for the price range. It offers many touch control features such as being able to lower/higher the volume with a stroke of a finger, disable noise cancellation by hovering your hand over the right earphone and many others, but I did not see myself using these features often. Some things I think are important to point out: These are primarily wireless bluetooth headphones in that they need to be connected via bluetooth to be able to modify and get the enhanced audio quality settings via their app. If you use these headphones strictly wired, the audio quality is noticeably worse. This does not seem like too big of an issue for me since they charge relatively quickly. On that note, these headphones cannot be used while they are charging. With that being said, I still enjoy these headphones, but if I had the option to buy these again, I think I would probably choose the Bose QC35 that are available for around the same price since I have had a better experience with Bose overall.

Good cans. They gave me a headache...

I compared them with the Bose Q45s to see which sounded better and most comfortable. The XM4s sound was ok. It didn't blow my socks off. I think sound is subjective. Comfort-wise, the Sony's gave me a headache. I could not wear them all day when focusing when I am WFH. Too much squeeze on my head. Many reviews say that the XM4s are some of the best on the market. (I didn't try the XM5 because I want folding headphones.) However, I preferred the lighter, smaller profile Q45s over the heavier XMs. ANC was about equal. I also tried the new Beats Studio Pro that recently came out. I loved the sound. They were NOT comfortable. So.... the XM4 are good cans. I liked them. However, I prefer my Q45s. I forget they are on my head.

Great headphones

The noise cancelation on these is the best of its time. The price point is even better now that there are newer versions out. Please buy this if you have a need to listen to music at its core.

This was what I’ve always wanted. I bought these because they are highly regarded as having the best anc on the market. I believe this to be pretty accurate and the sound is also amazing.

Wanted these for Teams

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really wanted these for Teams use in the office, but they just don't handle switching between stereo audio and headset audio when going back and forth from Teams calls to videos or Spotify etc. My Bose 700 seems to handle the task just fine, so I'll just use those for calls and keep the Sony's at home for music, cause they do sound amazing. Definitely like the sound better than the Bose, it just feels more alive. I wish the app had more information in it regarding the different features and what all the different settings and modes were for. The noise cancelling seemed to be on par with the Bose for office use, but I didn't really like the 'speak to switch' feature, when singing along to Spotify it would pick up my voice and paused my music for 10 seconds. Couldn't seem to turn it off while keeping the additional features of noise cancelling. Very premium feel, love the color and the non-flashy styling.

For this, please make sure that your device has a Bluetooth function that supports calling connections (HFP/HSP). Re-establish the connection between the source device and the headset. Select HFP or HSP for the profile.

Good for noise cancelling, not so good for talking

The only problem I have had is the ear phones are a bit tight and after prolonged use it causes sweat and a bit of discomfort but it’s not to noticeable. I have had a bit of trouble with the app that comes with it but after a bit of trial and error I have gotten used to it.

Best headphones I've owned

Too bad I can't have this for all the music that I have. But without the 360, the sound is still very good. And I use it for video conferencing calls on PC and it's superb. This one has everything that I want. I can't ask for more.

I bought these to use at night time to relax at the end of day. The noise canceling feature is bar none the best I’ve used. The Bluetooth range is excellent. These are worth every penny. No regrets.
