If you can find these on sale, these are terrific wireless headphones. I did have to tweak the EQ quite a bit until I found a curve that felt really good to me, but it can be done. These are way overloaded on bass from the start - which can muddle other frequencies. But the bass certainly is punchy, and honestly when it's tweaked these sound really good. They're not AptX-Low Latency or anything; if you have LDAC turned on you can't use multipoint; I still don't think they sound as good as my Shure Aonic 50s. But they do fold down really neatly, battery life is great, noise canceling is powerful. Can be a great value especially if you aren't paying full price.

I use them 7-9 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. I am comparing heavily against the XM3's. My reason for replacing the XM3's was the battery was dead from overuse(I replaced the battery myself, voiding the warranty). Noise cancelling and battery life have seen a significant upgrade. Enough that I would consider purchasing the XM4 if my XM3 was still working. Sound Quality wise, it is a decent boost, wired and wireless. Plugged in, it is a smooth sound from the earth shaking bass to the smooth high pitch sounds, these deliver. Throw these babies on in the dark with a scary movie and there is literally no escape. Voices are crisp and warm, while the bass can(and will) blow your mind. Sony typically runs higher on the bass side of things. The 3D audio is pretty awesome as well, from a technical standpoint. Being able to correctly situation 7.1 channel audio in these headphones with an accurate space sound feel. Been using noise cancelling technology since the Bose quiet comfort over the ear headphones(20 years ago), and these are the best I have found. The changes from the XM3's noise cancelling is a solid leap forward. The XM4's noise cancelling seem to mute out more of the mid-hi tones that the XM3's let through, or else it lowers it more. More of the mid to low ranges are effectively canceled as well. My Laptop is the loudest made(seriously, 66db) and is hoisted at above head level in the air. With nothing playing, background noise is audible, but with a little noise playing these headphones really do their job well, enough that my family can be playing 5-6 feet away(they are loud lol) and with something playing at low volume keeps it silent. Another area they do really well in is the noise cancelling adaptation that it allows you to do. I go from my noisy editing area to outside for some fresh air and the headphones automatically adjust for the noise in order to cancel it better. On the streets, it blocks out almost all car noise when tested about 15 feet away from a 4 lane street when busy to a point where it was jarring how disconnected from the loss of hearing.

Loving the sound of these! The fit is super comfortable, and don’t make my ears sweat like some other over the hear headphones. The touch and voice-activated operations seem a bit overly sensitive, but I just turned them off through the app until I can figure them out. And love that they came with a great case for travel and protection. Really enjoying them so far!

These are much better than the ult wear if anyone is wondering, Ult wear’s are not good. I purchased both and returned the ults immediately and kept the xm4’s. for $200 or even $150 I can’t recommend the ult. Xm4’s are clean and clear in all areas and similar bass as the ult. The old sony xb900n are vastly better than the ult in everyway, new is not always better for the ULT. XM4’s for gaming it’s surprisingly very good. Clean bass and soundstage is good for closed back, some gsmes im finding myself hearing new sounds and shocked out good they are for gaming. As Someone who games with the audeze maxwell headphone ($300) the xm4 are better than maxwells when gaming wired to a controller. (Consoles) very impressed and on sale for $200 its a great buy. These will stay in the collection

Battery life is nuts, noise canceling works well and the sound is very good as well. Ive had my headsets these are some of my favorite. Light and comfortable as well.

Recently got these for my girlfriend. I got rhe XM5s for myself and she wanted the 4s because of the fact they fold. the XM4s have largely the same pros as the 5s i love the light and gentle fit it doesnf hurt your ears after hours of use. the battery life is amazing and the charging is ridiculously fast. The ambient sound control and noise cancelling are really good too. and i generally just really like the way they look.

I never really had a pair of nice over-the-ear headphones before but had gotten tired of earbuds and wanted to get something sturdy and quality to last me for a long time, and I’m so glad I chose these. Not only are they super soft, but completely cover/cup my ears so there’s no pressure on my cartilage piercings (something I was initially worried about causing irritation). I have a pretty small head so they fit comfortably without extending outward, but are still tight enough to stay in place on my head without slipping. I also absolutely love that I can switch between the different equalizer options to cater to what kind of media I’m listening to (audiobooks, different genres of music, etc). The noise cancelation isn’t as powerful as the AirPods, but it definitely does the trick. I also deeply enjoy that you can adjust how much ambient noise you want and the feature that allows noise transparency/audio pause when the headphones detect you talking or the headphones are removed. Has been used and helpful more times than I can count already. Overall, I’m super happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to spend a pretty penny on some headphones.

Pretty good noise canceling. Not audiophile sound quality but good enough to listen to all your favorites. Good battery life. Got myself a pair and bought another pair for my dad i liked them so much. Pretty comfortable. Not a big fan of that fake leather stuff just because if you sweat it can get sticky but thats partly me being a headphone snob.

Super comfy! I keep forgetting I have them on except of course for the lack of ambient noise gives it away lol. Relatively simple setup. The fact that it supports 2 BT devices at a time is also a great feature. I can have it connected to my phone while I teleconference on my computer. The battery life is UNREAL. I charge it daily but on occasion, when I forget I'm still wearing them and step away for the day, I just turn them off and use them the next day without worrying about them dying. I usually use them for work 12-16 hours a day and that's just amazing to me. My only critique would be the included USB cable is stupidly small. More like a patch cable(to my fellow IT pros) at only 6 or so inches in length. I almost forgot to mention the sound quality is some of the best I've heard from even wired monitors.

I always wanted to buy Sony headphones and XM4 was right in my budget. They have excellent sound quality, connectivity and amazing battery life. They are comfortable and my ears don’t hurt when I’m using them for longer time periods. I have started enjoying my music even more. They are my companions at home, work, and travelling. Hands down they are the best over the ear headphones I have ever used.

My last headphones were fake "refurbished" Beats earbuds from Wish that I bought 4 years ago. So preface, my bar was probably pretty low. The battery life and audio quality are awesome. I've been enjoying going back through my music and am really noticing the difference that comes with quality. Also, I use it as a gaming headset and works just fine for that as well. I tried the XM5s in store and although there was a slight improvement in audio and fit, it was not enough to justify the extra money and larger size. As a big-eared individual, the headphones do get uncomfortable after a couple hours. But that's a me problem as all headphones do that and after that long of a time, I should take a break to not worsen my tinnitus.

Amazing. Sound is clear and noise cancellation works well. I love the feature where you press your palm on the side to hear ambient sound when you want. Battery is phenomenal—I’ve had these headphones for a month, used them almost every day for an hour on average and only had to charge them once. Comfortable as well, even on a small head like mine.

Probably one of the beat purchases I have ever made for myself. The headphones are comfortable, have great sound quality. And most importantly cancel noise when I need to. The only downfall is that the headphones does pickup sound that is extremely close by. For example, I may have the noise cancelling setting on at work, and keying in numbers on a 10-key. Because the key strokes are so close, (less than a foot away) and loud, it seaps through the headphones. However, noise coming from further distances the headphones do block out. Other than that, the headphones have amazing battery life, are comfortable to wear for long periods of time, and I really do like how taking of the headphones pauses the music.

Absolutely love these headphones. The noise cancellation works great for tuning out background noise and helping me focus while at work or the gym. They stay secure on your head without that feeling of suffocation, and are comfortable to wear with glasses and earrings. The equalizer offers enough to perfectly balance any genre of music and the clear bass will make any bass lover like myself salivate. Definitely beyond satisfied with my purchase and would recommend anyone looking at these to just go for it.

Sony has their act together! After four sets of trying to get the Bose 700 corrected to no avail I decided to switch course and purchase the WH-XM4, my only regret is why I didn’t do this sooner. The Sony’s are AWESOME! Great sound, best noice cancelling, best App, best equalizer and best battery. 30 hours of battery compared to well you don’t know with Bose 700s, their firmware is all messed up, and after four pairs it only got worse. Sony offers a great, stress free listening environment. Music is crisp and clear, bass is awesome, however you like to listen to your music you can customize it to your liking. Great highs, midrange and lows and all adjustable. I have a wide range of music, so I tested them with all types of music and so far after one day I’m totally impressed, Sony M4s gives the best sound for your dollar, I’m sold!

The predecessor, the WH-1000XM3s, were game changing for me. I’d never owned a pair of over-ears that I could comfortably wear all day and even night. These carry on much of what’s best about the XM3s. The padding is a little thicker, which is mostly great, but actually just a teeny bit less comfortable than the 3s to wear as a side sleeper at night, if you happen to need to. It’s a really minor difference though. The sound quality is better than I thought any bluetooth headphones could possibly be. The noose canceling seems very slightly improved over the 3s. Battery life is phenomenal. I can’t say if mine actually reach the 30 stated hours, but I can say they get over 24, which is pretty incredible. The 4s also have the ability to auto pause if you take them off. That’s kinda nice. They can also pair to two devices at once, which works... okay. If I use that, I get more “traditional” bluetooth issues like sudden un-pairing and re-pairing at random times. When paired to only one device, however, the connection stability is superb. Overall, it’s a great pair of headphones. Personally, I’m not sure if they’re worth the price premium over the WH1000-XM3s. I’m also not sure they aren’t worth it, though. It’s a close call. I still use both pairs every day.

I have been using the XM4s for over a week now and I must say I’m very impressed. I did a lot of research and watched reviews online before buying and I think the overall consensus is the same. The XM3s where and still are great headphones, but the XM4s fix all of the minor setbacks of the previous model and then some. Hands down I think the active noise canceling is among the very best and I can wear them comfortably for hours. I tried the new Bose 700s and although they are good, these are superior. The build quality is excellent, the audio quality is stellar, and the advanced features of these headphones bring the overall package to a whole new level. There really isn’t anything quite like it on the market as of yet, and it just shows that Sony has been paying close attention to their consumers. I highly recommend them!

Very satisfied with these. I had the Bose 45s and they were great but lacked the bass. The beats are good too but they gave me ear fatigue. These are a good mix of both. For being wireless headphones, the sound is clear, full, well balanced and the bass is present, pretty clear and punchy. Having the ability to EQ on the app is cool too. I recently flew to Italy and the noise canceling works great and they were comfortable enough to wear the whole 12 hour flight. As a musician, they also work great as in-ears both in live and in studio settings.
