Thank you for reaching out to us. We're glad to hear you like the WH1000XM4. However, we're sorry to hear some issues that you are experiencing with the headphones. Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device
In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device
In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train

So when a call comes in, your headphones know which device is ringing and connect to the right one automatically. You’ll also be able to quickly, smoothly switch your headphones to either of the two devices at the touch of a button. The WH-1000XM4 supports Google’s helpful new Fast Pair feature. It lets you easily locate where you left your WH-1000XM4 headphones by tone sound, or checking their last known location in Google’s Find My Device app on your smartphone.

Hi UncleBen, Thank you for the feedback on your experience with your WH1000XM4. We're glad to hear you like the comfortable fit and quality materials of your new headphones. We appreciate your feedback about the Speak to chat feature. You can turn off this feature by holding your 2 fingers to the touch sensor control panel until you hear the voice guidance say, “Speak-to-chat deactivated”.

You can also use the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app to switch between enabled/disabled, change the sensitivity of the automatic audio detection, and change the time until the Speak-to-Chat mode ends.
