Hi Tech, While we are glad to hear that you are happy with the overall performance of the WH-1000XM4 headphones, we are sorry to hear that you had issues while wearing them. Please note that the longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt. You may also use the adjustable headband for a more comfort fit.

While we are glad you are satisfied with the superb performance of your new XM4, we are sorry you are encountering an issue with the noise canceling function. The Noise Canceling feature of these Bluetooth® headphones is initially set to automatically turn off after five minutes. You can change the Automatic Power Off setting in the Headphones Connect app from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 3 hours or, if you want Noise Canceling to stay on all the time, just simply tap Do not turn off. Also, the automatic power-off feature has only one setting, power-off after 15min of not wearing.

The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
